  • My dad was in the parlour in 1972 when the plane crashed in sacramento. (hes still alive). The parlour wasnt suppose to be there because of the planes runway. It didnt put it out of business. They just dont have a parlour there anymore (its a good thing they didnt rebuild it)

  • I remember the Farrell's at Westshore Plaza,I used to eat there alot when I was a kid!!

  • Back in the early 70's I used to go to the on in Monclair Ca. Wow I remember the pigs trough and the shirley temple. and the CANDY STORE!! I used to take my girl friend at the time Lisa Ball. when I lived in San Dimas. Great memories!

  • A majority of these are defunct. A few still operate.

A deadly plane crash in the early 1970s sealed the fate of this terrific chain.

  • I don't know where you get your information from but the 1972 plane crash at the Sacramento store did not put the company out of business. Bob Farrell had 130 locations nation wide that he sold to Marriot Corp. in 1971. I went to the Farrell's in Santa Ana, Ca. from the 1960's until it closed in the mid 1980's. There still are Farrell's in operation including one in Santa Clarita, Ca. and another in Hawaii.

  • From what I understand, Farrell's was sold to another company in the early 90s who mismanaged the franchise leading to the demise.Another Company sold the list to the government who used it to send out draft notices to young men, which of course led to a whole bees nest ...that is what sealed the fate.

the good news is two guys from California own the franchise now and after all the legal issues have announced that they plan on bringing back Farrell's to this new generation once more...
