Also Atlantic Arms has some other Russian part kit AK's assembled in the USA made by Red Jacket Arms. Check Atlantic Arms sight. Expect to pay $1000 to $1500.

However, the G3 is still from what I know an extremely reliable weapon, and because it is a "battle rifle" being full 7.62 x 51, arguably, it shouldn't be compared.
@mobius1aic wait. is the g3 full automatic or semi. i fired an akm before ( bulgarian version). i found it easy enough to control when fired in bursts. it was also easier to fire on semiautomatic.i know that the nato round is much more powerfull than the 7.62 mm but shouldn't that round call for more recoil than the ak?
@cossack9991 Full auto G3s are the norm. I'm not familiar with each weapon's recoil characteristics, my gut feeling is that the AK climbs and jumps around more because the G3 is a straighter design that should help transfer recoil energy into the shooters shoulder better. It was this aspect that the standard M14 lacks that made it a terrible weapon to use in full auto when moving. However, like the G3, the M14 is an awesome battle rifle when used as such.
i've never fired the AK, but the G3 is very difficult to control on full-auto after the 3rd round. Controlling the trigger isn't that difficult though. Also requires a lot of practise cause it kicks like a mule on single fire.
G3's more powerful than the AK as well, but the FN-FAL is the most powerful auto-rifle. I think the AK is best in a war situation, because it's tough and doesn't need so much cleaning like a G3.
no at all, if you can strip an AK, the G3 shouldn't be a problem. Once a lorry drove over a G3 laying in the mud and it was bent and useless. On discovery channel I saw an AK take more punishment and it could still fire.
@CJBombaYe G3's are an inbetween rifle meaning also for longer distant shooting. So hence the need for a 30% more powerful bullet. G3's have longer barrels and are bulky. The AK is close skirmish gun. Less recoil,light and more agile. The C series Cetme is fairly light though. Different guns for different needs. I understand that platoons in east bloc countries would remedy the problem of distance shooting with issuing at least one or two marksmans a dragunov or variant like the PSL.
AK has cheaper and easier to find ammunition, it's more reliable, and certainly easier to be taught how to use, strip and clean.
The G3 is much harder hitting, much more accurate, and longer ranged. I wouldn't be worried about reliability at all, as I hear the G3 is well beyond other weapons in this regard. Ammunition would be my main concern, though it wouldn't be hard to find it the US, but it is heavier and more expensive.

Why do they keep bragging about how easy it is to use? Pretty much every rifle I have is easy to use, You load the mag and place inside, put the lever back then you aim and fire at the enemy, simple. All these people just parrot the same info over and over again. The best parts about the AK47 is it is tough and doesn't jam, you don't have to take it apart ever so why people go on and on about taking it apart, no need to, just add some grease and go kill people. Though we've come quite a ways from Kalashnikov's era, when the 'assault rifle' was almost completely nonexistant (Outside of germany anyway). There's certainly better. Nothing will ever be quite as simple or as durable, but there's certainly more powerful, ranged and accurate rifles out there.
I mean, An F2000 is pretty awesome, more accurate and debatable in power compared to an AK74, but unlike an AK74 if you drop it it may break into a million pieces lol.

The 5.45x39 bullet can actually inflict more damage inside a persons body cavity because of the way it's designed. The bullet is your typical full metal jacket (a lead core surrounded by a copper jacket) but a small piece of the lead inner core in the tip of the bullet is removed This makes the bullet Keyhole in targets, spinning inside them
@peepeevagi While the .223 round is a smaller bullet that does the same effect, but the larger bullet can inflict more damage because, well, it's a bigger piece of metal going through your body and it tends to spin more than the .223 would. As far as accuracy is concerned, the AK-74 is indeed very accurate (a common misconception that it isn't) And for range, most modern warfare is held within about a 300 meter range thus Kalashnikov designed his weapon to be highly effective in this range.
@peepeevagi dont know what your talking about the ak74 is just as accurate as the m16, the 5.45x39 does more damage to a humen body than a 5.56 NATO bullet and the ak74 will shoot any time and everywhere. the russian 5.45 bullet is simply better than a 5.56 NATO bullet for causing damage to humen body.
5.45 may be better, but versus other 'small caliber' assault rifles the difference is almost negligible. 5.56 carries more force to the target than 5.45 (1700 joules to the 5.45's 1300), and it's accurate at much longer ranges with less drop over distance than 5.45. But they're both about equal as far as real usage goes, both perform well in combat.

As far as the actual guns themselves go, the AK-74 IS NOT as accurate as the M16. It comes close though (Again, negligible difference). It has variants that surpass the M16 in accuracy though, including that one model with the two shot burst that basically puts two rounds in the exact same spot as if they were one bullet lol.
On paper, the M16 is better. But as far as actually fighting using them, they perform similar enough to be called the same. Only the AK-74 has a tumbling bullet :P

@peepeevagi That is total bullshit, I've fired every AK47 type made and none were more accurate as any AR15 with a heavy match grade barrel that is free floated. You don't see anyone ever going against M16s/AR15s in service rifle matches. The 7.62x39 round is not as accurate as the .223/5.56, that is a huge limiting factor, the fact you can freefloat the barrel on an AR15 is a HUGE factor, heavy free floated match barrels and match ammo.
It's still not .223 accurate. It's close though. It's an assault rifle round, .223 is a regular small rifle round. Different purposes, one's just outright more accurate than the other by design.

Learn some history bud, in WW2 the US used the same tactics as the Russians, just on a smaller scale. We relied on force of numbers to achieve a tactical advantage.

No Internally they're completly different, only the concept of a select-fire, automatic rifle, firing an intermediate catridge was copied from the Germans.
True, M-16 and AK-47 cannot be properly compared. Most important to note is that the AK-47 is a machine gun then rifle, while the M-16 is a rifle. What is the difference? IT has to do with the action of firing from open and closed bolt, which also decides the rifle's accuracy. M-16 is more accurate, but the AK-47 is reliable. AK has a better round while the M-16... can ... yeah.

@cossack9991 To be honest, I don't think a G3 could take the same beating, but the G3 will put more rounds on target with better accuracy with the more powerful 7.62 x 51 mm NATO round. However, the G3 is still from what I know an extremely reliable weapon, and because it is a "battle rifle" being full 7.62 x 51, arguably, it shouldn't be compared.

@mobius1aic wait. is the g3 full automatic or semi. i fired an akm before ( bulgarian version). i found it easy enough to control when fired in bursts. it was also easier to fire on semiautomatic.i know that the nato round is much more powerfull than the 7.62 mm but shouldn't that round call for more recoil than the ak?

@cossack9991 Full auto G3s are the norm. I'm not familiar with each weapon's recoil characteristics, my gut feeling is that the AK climbs and jumps around more because the G3 is a straighter design that should help transfer recoil energy into the shooters shoulder better. It was this aspect that the standard M14 lacks that made it a terrible weapon to use in full auto when moving. However, like the G3, the M14 is an awesome battle rifle when used as such.

i've never fired the AK, but the G3 is very difficult to control on full-auto after the 3rd round. Controlling the trigger isn't that difficult though. Also requires a lot of practise cause it kicks like a mule on single fire.

G3's more powerful than the AK as well, but the FN-FAL is the most powerful auto-rifle. I think the AK is best in a war situation, because it's tough and doesn't need so much cleaning like a G3.

@CJBombaYe G3's are an inbetween rifle meaning also for longer distant shooting. So hence the need for a 30% more powerful bullet. G3's have longer barrels and are bulky. The AK is close skirmish gun. Less recoil,light and more agile. The C series Cetme is fairly light though. Different guns for different needs. I understand that platoons in east bloc countries would remedy the problem of distance shooting with issuing at least one or two marksmans a dragunov or variant like the PSL.

AK has cheaper and easier to find ammunition, it's more reliable, and certainly easier to be taught how to use, strip and clean.
The G3 is much harder hitting, much more accurate, and longer ranged. I wouldn't be worried about reliability at all, as I hear the G3 is well beyond other weapons in this regard. Ammunition would be my main concern, though it wouldn't be hard to find it the US, but it is heavier and more expensive.

Why do they keep bragging about how easy it is to use? Pretty much every rifle I have is easy to use, You load the mag and place inside, put the lever back then you aim and fire at the enemy, simple. All these people just parrot the same info over and over again. The best parts about the AK47 is it is tough and doesn't jam, you don't have to take it apart ever so why people go on and on about taking it apart, no need to, just add some grease and go kill people. Other rifles are so simple also

Though we've come quite a ways from Kalashnikov's era, when the 'assault rifle' was almost completely nonexistant (Outside of germany anyway). There's certainly better. Nothing will ever be quite as simple or as durable, but there's certainly more powerful, ranged and accurate rifles out there.
I mean, An F2000 is pretty awesome, more accurate and debatable in power compared to an AK74, but unlike an AK74 if you drop it it may break into a million pieces lol.

@peepeevagi Actually I wouldn't say the F2000 is more, "powerful" (by powerful, I'm assuming you are meaning more damage that can be inflicted to a person). The 5.45x39 bullet can actually inflict more damage inside a persons body cavity because of the way it's designed. The bullet is your typical full metal jacket (a lead core surrounded by a copper jacket) but a small piece of the lead inner core in the tip of the bullet is removed This makes the bullet Keyhole in targets, spinning inside them

@peepeevagi While the .223 round is a smaller bullet that does the same effect, but the larger bullet can inflict more damage because, well, it's a bigger piece of metal going through your body and it tends to spin more than the .223 would. As far as accuracy is concerned, the AK-74 is indeed very accurate (a common misconception that it isn't) And for range, most modern warfare is held within about a 300 meter range thus Kalashnikov designed his weapon to be highly effective in this range.

5.45 may be better, but versus other 'small caliber' assault rifles the difference is almost negligible. 5.56 carries more force to the target than 5.45 (1700 joules to the 5.45's 1300), and it's accurate at much longer ranges with less drop over distance than 5.45. But they're both about equal as far as real usage goes, both perform well in combat.
I dont know, i still prefer my cetme in .308 to any 'lighter' weapon xD

As far as the actual guns themselves go, the AK-74 IS NOT as accurate as the M16. It comes close though (Again, negligible difference). It has variants that surpass the M16 in accuracy though, including that one model with the two shot burst that basically puts two rounds in the exact same spot as if they were one bullet lol.
On paper, the M16 is better. But as far as actually fighting using them, they perform similar enough to be called the same. Only the AK-74 has a tumbling bullet :P

@peepeevagi That is total bullshit, I've fired every AK47 type made and none were more accurate as any AR15 with a heavy match grade barrel that is free floated. You don't see anyone ever going against M16s/AR15s in service rifle matches. The 7.62x39 round is not as accurate as the .223/5.56, that is a huge limiting factor, the fact you can freefloat the barrel on an AR15 is a HUGE factor, heavy free floated match barrels and match ammo.

It's still not .223 accurate. It's close though. It's an assault rifle round, .223 is a regular small rifle round. Different purposes, one's just outright more accurate than the other by design.

I am from Eastern Europe myself. I am of military heritage, meaning a family members of mine has faught in both World Wars, and some were later deployed to Middle East and elsewhere as officers of the Yugoslavian army. I have never heard any of them speak of Bulgarian AK the way you say. When i mentioned what you just said to one of them, he just looked at me trying to figure out if i was serious or joking. This is a career soldier here, a highly ranked officer, so no GROW UP.

I fired one. The heat on the front grip wasn't vented properly. It MELTED IN MY HANDS after two magazines. That's faulty manufacturing right there. You won't get skips in quality like that from Izhmash.

Yea that's really a great rifle. Im 15 and I can dissasemble AK 74 for 8-10 seconds. Our trainer that the best result he saw is 3 or 4 secs.

@UFCMania98 yes im aware of the German superiority, however the Russians still deserve respect for their accomplishments...you say the ONLY reason the Germans were defeated was because of the amount of men they threw into battle, which is a huge slight to every Russian who participated...and as far as material is concerned, what about the T-34, or the KV-1, the Katyusha rocket launcher? the PPSH-41? The Germans greatest superiority was their general staff which was severly hampered by Hitler

Learn some history bud, in WW2 the US used the same tactics as the Russians, just on a smaller scale. We relied on force of numbers to achieve a tactical advantage.

@FcK2420 Russia had no AF??? Soviet Union had the largest Air Force that ever existed. And the Soviets pushed the Germans from Moscow to Berlin, that's more than just cites, that's a LOT of ground (mountains, forest, and plains) Also, the Soviet Union was the first country to use paratroopers, they pioneered the concept, the US thought the idea was ridiculous in the '30s.

@Goodspittin Western allies bombed Berlin not the soviets. Cos their airforce got destroyed by the germans. Germany was the first country to use paratroopers in the Invasion of Crete. Your right on the US's thought of it tho. I wish i could give you links, many german vets compared the eastern front to the western front. All said the eastern was more like a constant bloodbath with close quarters combat, and the western more like "real" war.

You are right. Germany was the first to use paratroopers in combat, but not the first nation to have paratroopers their first airborne unit was established 9 April 1940. The Soviets had paratroopers as early as 1936 but never deployed their airborne in great number for a number of reasons,.
And I'll stand by what I said. The Russians had a MASSIVE air force, I never said it was effective, but they still had an AF throughout the war.

They didn't feed the Russians and didn't supply them with necessary materials. And don't you ever refer to any human's life as a rat. If you where in their position you'd do the same- There it was like that- go fight or weather you're sick or hungry or be shot by your own officer.

@UFCMania98 i didnt say the T-34 was better BUT the Germans MADE THE PANTHER AND TIGERS BECAUSE OF THE T-34...the T-34 came first....the Germans had to upgrade their tanks because it its superiority....and yes the Panther was the best tank of the war...The advantages of the T-34 were its sloping armor and wide treads...

Secondly-eastern front was the longest in Second World War(thousands kilometers of war and destruction,you should look at the maps of WWII),this is means that USSR forces was every too.Most of Wehrmacht armies fighted with Russia.

True, M-16 and AK-47 cannot be properly compared. Most important to note is that the AK-47 is a machine gun then rifle, while the M-16 is a rifle. What is the difference? IT has to do with the action of firing from open and closed bolt, which also decides the rifle's accuracy. M-16 is more accurate, but the AK-47 is reliable. AK has a better round while the M-16... can ... yeah.
