@Mieden - What they mean more power and more fuel efficient is simply if they were to make a naturally aspirated 400HP V8 vs a forced induction V8, its a lot less fuel economical making power from a natural aspirated motor. Same with the new M5, turbo. And no, the 5.5L was amazing. The LS600H only got 2mpg better than the S550. Great motor and fuel efficient for its size.

@IPGAuto Dude, Im a benz tech, see these cars every day...M273 is a LOVELY engine...dont get me wrong. However, with CAFE changing, Mercedes had to step up their fuel economy game. With smaller displacement, piezo direct injection and tiny turbos the M278 replacement is about 20% more efficient compared directly to M273. LS600 is not a valid example. That is the most wasteful, inefficient hybrid arrangement ever contrived. M273 is great for old tech, but the game has changed!

All rear wheel drive cars are terrible in the snow, RWD s-classes can't handle the snow. But this car was in testing, so it isn't production ready, and it will probably be improved. Also people who have an S class, but don't have a 4-matic one, would also have another 4x4 car for the snowy days.
