  • I love when Eddie talks about how much he loves the who and how as a teen he stole a walkman with a recorder just to get a bootleg of the concert he was attending.

when he speaks of them it's like how I speak of pearl jam :')

  • what the fuck, this is a shit version! THE WHO ALL THE WAY !

  • @uncthreesixtee Ahh, go away. These guys are doing their tribute to a kickass band, leave them be. Even if you don't like it.

  • POS.....Give me the original authors and performers....The Who....These numbe nuts can not write their own material.

  • @classicjessy its a cover so chill your shit.

  • @classicjessy You are a fucking idiot.

  • THIS.

    IS A GOOD.

    BAND.

  • One of the greatest rock songs of all time done by one of the greatest rock band of my generation. Amazing.

  • @mikegetty yeah suree!!!

    sincerely,

    Kurt Cobain

  • As Eddie once said; the only thing that disgusts me about The Who is that they charged through every uncharted hallway of rock & roll with leaving just debris for us to lay claim to.

  • Who fans, don't be ignorant. This is a great cover and Pearl Jam are huge Who fans. Yes I like Pearl Jam more (second favorite band) but not like most fans, I can at least recognize the greatness of The Who and won't say " The Who's version sucks". Don't be angry that a band as great as Pearl Jam covered one of their songs. Be happy that The Who influenced a great band, and not some shitty group that just says they are so people will like them.

  • With all due respect, the Seattle grunge sound comes from guys who spent too much time growing up till their 25 in their parents cellar. I joke about that with my teenage daughter. These guys could not hold a candle to The Who. She agrees with me.

  • @1776freedom .................no

  • @1776freedom first off alot of these guys were out on the street not living with there parents and saying they could not hold a candle to the who is a little absurd considering what pearl jam has accomplished both are two of the greatest bands in history im a fan of both bands but i feel pearl jam will stay a bit more relevant

  • @1776freedom Actually, before you speak, know what you're talking about. Grunge is a combination of pretty much all influences of music. Rock, soul, r&b, country, etc. And I'm sure you and your daughter are rock magazine critics for Rolling Stone. So please, by all means Bob Rock..go ahead and speak some more and make yourself sound like an old man that just can't appreciate anything beyond 1979.

  • Come on man, you just can't say bad things about grunge. Sure, the movement got overblown by the media, but the music was still great. For the whole generation, with few exceptions like yourself. :) Just look at the state of the music nowadays. Cheers.

  • @TonicGeek Compared to today's music, sure, I'll say Grunge is superior but I think the decline in mood from the 80's to the 90's was significant enough for many of us not to get into it. It was the Seattle sound and it didn't appeal to everyone.

  • I love the who but this totally sucks ass

  • Pearl Jam blows!

  • no one surprissed the who version

  • i love both classic rock and grunge so this cover is perfect for me :D

  • we should all be singing this.

  • why doesn't eddie vedder sing like this instead of that dumbass way he always sings? haha

  • They played a bunch of Who in the early '00s after Townshend got arrested. definitely a tribute.

  • I was a teenager through the 90's grunge era and could never figure out how and why kids my age liked grunge.

  • @HowFarAreWeNow 1st of all grunge doesnt exist, and second of all nirvana pearl jam alice in chains soundgarden mudhoney... kick ass

  • @HowFarAreWeNow Let me throw a wild guess here... you are having hard time figuring out things in general, right? Can you figure out why the kids your age didn't like YOU very much in the 90's?

  • @TonicGeek A HA HA HA HA ....that's hilarious Mr. Geek !

  • <3<3<3<3<3 THE WHO <3<3<3<3<3

  • little pearl jammies having a go at the classics. excuse me while i throw up eddie>

  • This concert was Gimli Motorsport Park, Gimli, Manitoba, Canada(14-08-1993) and not winnipeg

    Regards

  • fucking stupid habit to compare every fucking group, can't you just fucking enjoy?

  • I'm 62 years old and I'm amazed at this performance. Venturing a guess that this was probably not even their best effort--I'm blown away! A die hard Who fan, the unbridled energy of these boys really took me back! My eyes have been opened this day to what my teenage daughters have been saying for years; These fellas rock!!

  • @McClintock1313 ---- I just turned 50 and the Who are one of my favorite bands. I can also appreciate the energy that this band has.

  • @McClintock1313 I am 12 and what is this.

  • shite .........LONG LIVE WHO

  • lol- I read these comments and then I think to myself- Are you in a band and have you covered this song?? Funny how people are so quick to voice opinion.... Great Job Pearl Jam and Eddie!!!!

  • lol- I read these comments and then I think to myself- Are you in a band and have you covered this song?? Funny how people are so quick to voice opinion....

  • Terrible...just terrible.

  • This drummer kicks ass!

  • Comment removed

  • @cambruoso Yeah! It's Dave Abbruzzese, my friend :)

  • Why would people dislike this, it's a bunch of amazing musicians having fun, there's more energy in Pearl Jam than there is in the who.

  • @Jackstanford7 if you were around when Pete and the boys made this song, and seen The Who live back then, you would know they had GREAT energy for their time....both bands were raw, groundbreaking, amazing musicians....but to say The Who had less energy??? You sir are wrong! No disrespect, I'm not being an ass, but go check some old Who live clips on Youtube....you might be surprised! VERY ENERGETIC! I'm sure Eddie would tell you the same! Enjoy friend and CHEERS!

  • I sound's like the guitars are off key. It's either that or the audio of this video sucks.

  • i was expecting a total butcher...

    not bad

  • should have stuck to doing covers. their actual music sucks

  • @joemoe23 Millions and millions of fans WORLDWIDE. 90+ million records sold. 20+ years of performing live shows all over the world. Their own(successful) satellite radio station.

You and your opinions are what sucks.(That is why you see a failure in the mirror)

  • @smashmasterjohn boo hoo someone critized my favorite band. boo hoo. you fucking pathetic baby. so scary with your stupid opinion of me while you sit your probably fat ass behind a computer. It was an opinion loser get over it.

  • @smashmasterjohn I forgot to also mention that most people in this world are also fucking retarded so record sales and a fan base isn't a good barometer of quality nitwit

  • @smashmasterjohn Btw your screename sounds like a gay pornstar stage name

  • Well I'm a huge Who fan and I think this is fucking great

  • pearl jam,,,, we love em,yes we f do !!!!!!!

  • @nickdpark you're an idiot for think the who didn't write baba o'riley.

  • @nickdpark what you talking about?

  • Damn PJ, how much shit can you guys do?? Come out with 20 years of amazing original music, and then have such an amazing repitoire of covers too? Baba O'Riley, Rain, Hide Your Love Away, Rockin' In the Free World, Growin' Up, Hard Sun...

That's why they're the best band, ever.

  • Comment removed

  • @nickdpark lmao at you for thinking the who (pete townsend) didn't write baba o'riley.

  • What fucking performers. :|

  • wow that was actually awesome!

  • awful sounds like a cover band at the local bowling alley

  • EXCELENTE versión!

  • Leave it alone Eddie, you and your band are amazing at doing your thing but that was awful.

  • so who is better now?...

  • this is back when Pearl Jam was the one of the beast bands in the world!

  • @southkid1992

    yo kid, they still are.

  • @vipondan there still good but they don't compare with the early 90's pearl jam, all there older songs sound rushed through live now and it's just not the same, and don't get me wrong i still love them but i prefer this time in their career

  • i know all about eddie he loves the heroin still today

  • my only complant isnt that they didnt do it well, its the quality of the video

  • dumbasses a cover isnt supposed to sound exactly the same. every band puts their own twist on a song. its a damn good version for a grunge band doing acid rock

  • These idiots suck big time. Major suckoids.

  • An awesome band paying respect to another awesome band. LOVE IT! I wish I was there to have experienced it!

  • All of you The Who-snobs: Shut the fuck up. I obviously love The Who really much but that doesn't make Pearl Jam anything bad. Learn to respect other groups or stay in your cages, fucking assholes.

  • You can't compare them to the who. Pearl jam is a garage band.

  • @jcmagicalmysterytour Garage band? One of the greatest garage bands of all-time.

Why the hell do you need to compare bands? Fucking retards do that. Learn to respect both groups.

  • I hope they had fun but they will never be ever to compare themselves to the Who.

  • see what you like facts are these will never in a billion years come any were near as close as the who

  • I THINK THIS WAS DONE WITH RESPECT SO CUT THE FUCKIN' CRAP AND GET OVER IT.

  • Hay hay its only teenage wasteland.

Good to see a band playing

    Just enjoy the sound

  • fuck this grunge band they got nothing on the who

  • @tomdabom713 hey fuck you, Eddie is a fan of The Who and obviously likes jamming to it, if you don't like it, DON'T FUCKING LISTEN TO IT!

  • @tomdabom713 Fuck you, asshole. Pearl Jam's music was influenced by The Who, and they created amazing classics just like their idols. Ignorant guys like you should be shot on sight.

  • Its humorous to see these Who fans go apeshit and soil themselves over a band that Pete and Roger are good friends with and respect. Such snobby, holier than thou elitist jerks.

  • @Ycjedi Well said, man.

  • the best band to cover this song is pearl jam very few covers will ever be better than originals

  • Eddie Vedder is a smart guy but this cover is no where The Who.

When is the world gonna learn that the UK runs the show when it comes to groundbreaking music.

  • Drums are too loud.

  • wtf is this shit

  • @Powderwombat it's your moms vagina... stop sneaking a peek while she's asleep.

  • @godbegone Go watch some more pearl fail plz ok?cool

  • Alot of the suckage comes from the shitty recording

  • i hate how everyone expects it to be better than the original..THATS WHY ITS A COVER. BECAUSE ITS NOT AS GOOD AND IT SOUNDS DIFFERENT. it wouldn't be a cover if it sounded exactly the same and better than the original

  • PEARL JAM NEEEVEERRRR TRIED TO COVER THE WHO .... PEARL JAM MADE A TRIBUTE.... if u listen to them .. u should know that...(Vedder loves THE WHO, and as they do with all songs... they adds some features to be like "Pearl Jam stile!!"

  • @jlucas1995

100% agreed m8 , eddie is a massive fan of the who and this is a mark of

    respect more than a cover

  • @jlucas1995 techically it is still a cover since it was originally a who song, but its just in their on version at the same time. so it is still a cover, just pearl jam style like u said

  • @jlucas1995 You are VERY RIGHT !!!!Shit song and not THE WHO !!!!!

  • @stoneroller1

    Idiot

  • @wolliam666 Idiot your father !!!!the pearl jam version is a shit !!!!

  • The Who. Long live.

  • i love pearl jam but they didnt cover it properly...

  • Epic fail. And I thought Pearl Jam sucked before.

  • @jpheitman Pearl Jam trying to be rock legends. Sorry guys, you will never be as good as The Who.

  • @EddieAlda Lighten up. As @TheSpeedReviews mentioned, of course the Who are better, but PJ ARE just trying to have fun. Eddie is probably drunk during this performance, anyway! Plus, this is early in their career, and they haven't proven themselves to be legends yet. I think their performance at the VH1 Rock Honors in 2009 shows that they can more than handle a Who cover, probably better than anyone else out there. Baba O'Riley is not the Who's best song anyway. ;)

  • @mramirez1974 baba o/riley IS their best track

  • terrible sounds like a bad cover band playing at the local bowling alley.

  • @brobra41 Agreed!! This blows.

  • wow this is god awful out of pitch & just doesn't work on any level....

  • you should listen a more recent version.... last one i heard was in Chile i think

  • fuck you guys, sure the who is an amazing band but pearl jam is just too different to compare to them. just look at the energy and performance. Pearl Jam rocks

  • Well, that was....awful. No, wait a minute. That was FECKING awful.

I've heard Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall sing this better.

  • @Kashvenali., Hey Douchebag. That's their biggest unrealsed cover they've had live. So shut the fuck up., You ignorant moron.

  • @giutar24 Wow, you're obviously a brilliant elocutionist. I guess we all should have guessed when you couldn't even spell "guitar". This is pure garbage. I'm guessing you'd have a hard-on if Eddie Vedder was puking, which might actually sound better.

  • Ripping!!! It's not the Who...but this is some good energy going towards a great song...It's raw in 1993 for Pearl Jam and not as polished as the late 2008 stuff...I think the who would rally and say cool!

  • Ripping!!! It's not the who...but this is some good energy going towards a great song...It's raw in 1993 for Pearl Jam and not as polished as the late 2008 stuff...I think the who would rally and say cool!

  • HORRIBLE !

Look, I love PJ forever. but this was a bad choice for a cover.

This song is too unique to the WHO, and ANY band who attempts it will look

    plain foolish.

Still PJ and the Who are timeless..

  • Too fast sorry. Doesn't work and is unnecessary really.

Hearing the singers "whoas" and "yeahs" and general screaming just pisses all over the original.

Just a bad cover really. Not far enough from the original to be worth doing and not close enough to be a covers band.

  • Way to go Pearl Jam, it's nice to see the current bands pay tribute, even someone as big as Pearl Jam, and they did a damn good job.

  • FUCK*NG AMAZING!!!!

ONE OF THE BEST COVERS EVER!!!

the people who said that the who is better.........is a cover, if they try to play the song exactly like the who it would not be pearl jam!!!!!

  • @josemaja Thank you!! For once a good comment ;) xoxo

  • The pace is simply way to fast. It loses the entire feel of the original.

  • the cover is pretty good, but the drummer sucks. he didn't capture the style of moon at all. and it was a pretty sad attempt

  • @l0c0m0nster yeah, but then again, who can honestly capture the style of moon?

  • @l0c0m0nster Are you fucking kidding? He slammed it hard enough and with enough groove to make Moon proud.

  • best cover ever

  • 太差了,不能和THE WHO相比。。。。。。。

  • ...and Keith Moon rolled over in his grave when he heard this. Stop covering shit and come up with something original, otherwise you aren't contributing anything to music.

  • @atkndfan92 with all due respect to your opinion, which you are entitled to, i think pearl jam has contributed a thing or two to music

  • @lutiad Fair enough. Pearl Jam was a big contributer to the grunge movement, and they still remain large names in music today. The second part of my statement is wrong. The first part isn't. This cover, in my opinion, was terrible.

  • Respond to this video... piss poor attempt at a classic

  • God DAMN. Pearl Jam is the only band that can do The Who covers justice.

  • bellissimo,grazie carlotta

  • stone used to be so active and crazy on stage........now he just stands and paces in place. ha. still love them though......

  • The Who for the win!

  • Oh Eddie...

  • winnipeg!

  • rock on pearl jam!!

  • All of you that say bullshit about this, You know what,No one cares, speak when you make a band who break ages, Pearl Jam is the only Grunge band who survive the 2000's...who then now...

  • @thelostvikings999 rite on seen p.j 2 times they were so good. peace

  • @thelostvikings999 Local H, Melvins, Mudhoney, Alice in Chains, Blind Melon, Hole, Stone Temple Pilots... do i need to continue?

  • @Dirtmurder and how many of that bands break up (no matter if they returned or not) or simply it's not the same (alice in chains)? I just say that Pearl Jam will ever be that greath...that's all

  • if you haven't seen this entire show you really should, having been a fan for almost 20 years i think this is probably my favorite full show of all time- they had been opening all summer and this was their only full show and they fucking let loose! this was the last song and they were obviously pretty drunk at this point, check out the rest of the show though and you'll see how this song caps it off nicely!

  • Looked to me like these guys were enjoying this. It's no secret that Pearl Jam loved The Who. I doubt they were trying to do anything but cover a great song..

  • never heard such a shit. Now I know, where Petes ears got injured.

  • pearl jam rock man !!!really fuckin music they ever play....edd keep up tha goodjob,me people of indonesia waiting for your tour.......pearl jam gw bgt coooy....

  • My God is this awful.

  • Us canadians must have been Inspiring ;)

  • this has to be the worst thing i've ever heard. fuck pearl jam.

  • @xxKYLExGxx No, fuck you!!!

  • @xxKYLExGxx Yea...someone dressed in a black robe in front of a fog machine screaming "tyrant" over and over is much better.....

  • There are some songs that you just can't play.

  • Pearl Jam doing this cover in Chicago (year?)...anyone have that? Please!

  • puf que buena rola, anímese a escuchar esta canción originalmente de The Who en cover por esta banda noventera. Por cierto @Indra: "sabes que estás ruco cuando te acuerdas de The Who y de Pearl Jam

  • sorry i didn't mean to post so many..

  • It's not letting me post the link..but search "BRING PEARL JAM BACK TO WINNIPEG" on Facebook and join the page to bring them back to Winnipeg!

  • No. Just no.

  • duderott o me

  • wait who sang it first? the who or pearl jam?

  • @orange3543 the who

  • wot no keyboard

  • I haven't seen eddie head bang in a long time. :)

  • very very nice cover, i would love to hear a studio version... but the battery is too "simple" in comparison with The Who, and let's not talk about the bass... anyway, grat work, PJ FTW ! xD

  • Good cover - same vocal range as Roger Daltrey.

  • @thrillandfrills I think eddie has more actually he goes incredbily high in some songs

  • Holy Fuck!! Eddie that was phenomenal!!! I can't believe I've never heard this yet...
