  • omg I love this camera so much

  • wow.............................

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • its good, but it doesn't seem like you using ints full potential or something. im not that blown away.

  • This is great how much did you pay for this camera??

  • @FCfantastic9

It costs around 2k, and that's without a lens.

  • for the price, id definitely stick to the t2i. that is if all you're doing is internet videos.

  • @SpencerYoungTV the quality is alot nicer than the t2i tho. :/

  • @domtriga as expected with a camera that costs almost triple the price

  • @domtriga Not at all.. The sensor is slightly upped to a 35mm, but there's barely any real effect other than a very slight upping of the amount of recieved light and another small boost to the Depth of field.

  • Love the focusing!

  • SO HD!!!1!

  • 19 people don't like birds

  • Can the Canon 5D Mark 2 shoot 24p

  • @surfsolon yes, with the new firmware

  • @surfsolon Yes

  • Yes

  • Dude can you list the setting you use to video this thanks .am8tam@yahoo.com

  • Yo quiero una de estas camaras =D más bien dicho, voy a tener una de estas =D

  • It looks awesome !!!!!!!! It's more than HD

  • wow... and to think i wasted $3K on an XH-A1.... this blows it out of the water

  • @keenanmartens

Not a waste man. But I almost made the same purchase. It depends what you need it for. The Mark II is one sexy biatch though I'm not gonna lie. I love love love mine.

  • this is what you'd expect from a $5000 nzd camera?

  • can i change the shutter speed on it?

  • it looks edited for sure

  • @brianaperkins he could have done this, edited straight from the cam. Anyways I have one and i tell you the image, even without edition looks even better than this.

Thumbs up for Canon 5D mark 2 (vid)

  • Well, the camera is not the 'rate limiting step' here.

As most of the time it is the guy behind the viewfinder.

No amount of technology can replace the guy who's using it....

  • Ok if you like extreme out of focus effects, but non of it is really sharp! The Panasonic GH2 looks nicer, and has much less aliasing - see 'GH2 daylight test shoot'

  • Makes me want to destroy my camera.

  • Ah, the glorious sounds of nature...and...police sirens...

  • watch?v=d7uQHvqr6k0 This professional music video clip made with 5d mark ii in January 2011. Director: Altan Dönmez

  • I soooooo want this camera!!!!

  • damn i like Canon EOS 5D Mark II

  • Beautiful!!! Could you tell me what you think of this camera when shooting video in low light conditions? Any noise problems?

  • @andrus9000 F 2.8 with a 24/105 L lens (the best for low light)

  • I'm looking for a prime, preferably around 300mm for the same camera, but maybe this lens will suffice. I love the aperture.

  • you just need to invest in a tripod and learn how to focus your shots

  • who the heck is that talking?lol

  • @DreamerCafe he's right

  • Best thing is the lady talking with the ducks, jajajajaj

  • wow.. this is like on animal planet, I want the camera so bad!

  • the only thing that I was bumped about, was the manual focusing.I have to ajust ficus everytime I change focusing levels.bemmer, overall a piece of art camera.

  • @GIORGOSGUNIT thats the good thing about it

  • @Putomiguelgil

no,especially when you're shooting and need to change levels instantly without loosing focus..

  • the L lens boost the video!! nice!!!!! ;)

  • Really nice video. How much did the lenses cost you ?

  • what was first? 400d or 5d

  • Are you kidding me? Woah now I love this cameraaaa!

  • i can see why even tv crews are using this as an alternative to shooting with bulky, expensive film cameras, or more recently digital film cameras.

i think the BBC are filming loads of new tv shows, both standard def, and high definition.

  • @rorrt yup. i heard SNL films with this camera. They even filmed an entire episode of House using the 5d mk ii.

  • @turgore

i found the episode to be extra blurry, and there was loads of movement. But still for a DSLR, with that capacity to shoot beautiful film with great lenses it can only be a good thing.

  • @turgore Correction, the entire 7th season with the 5d, and SNL definitely uses this camera, if you are going for a picture camera that is great... than yes the 5D is amazing and even gives the D700 a run for its money big time, but in all honestly the 7D was made to be a better video camera due to its more robust recording options and enhancements.... the 5d is full but the 7 pwns for video.. for the price and quality of video, you can beat the 7d :-)

  • Wow I've never seen a park with so many different kinds of birds!

  • what picture style you use?

  • when did this camera come out? i've seen a couple used camera bodies for sale on ebay and elsewhere. just wondering if it would be a smart purchase...

  • Wow esto si es calidad de imagen!! yo quiero una de esas tb! :D

  • AMAZING!!!

  • this footage is absolutely incredible!!!!

  • is this a video camera ? lol

  • @maika0staretza its not a video a legit video camera, its a DSLR camera. Which are usually made for pro photography, but it takes better video than your average consumer camera, some people do use it for filming

  • WOW!! The video quality is SPECTACULAR!!!

  • Green grass with still or video with the canon...using even my new 100mm 2.8 L lens, well the grass goes video/smeary. Doesn't matter what len's opening...very frustrating. I play with sharpness setting, and of course, it just starts looking sharpened. Note the final cut vignetting done to this video.

  • That 1.4 is stunning.

  • Beautiful footage. Can't wait to try out that camera.

  • Wow, almost 35mm feel!

  • @Skawucheck well the 5dmk2 sensor is 35mm so that may be why it looks that way

  • At this footage you can see how useful a OIS is.

  • couldnt all this be done on the t2i?

  • @roborovskihamsters yes also with the crop factor

  • @roborovskihamsters Main advantage of the 5D Mark II is it's superb handling of low light situations with higher ISOs because it has very little grain.

  • so cool~

  • jsjs i lovr skateboarding

  • This Camera Makes Everything Look AMAZING

  • which is better?

    canon eos 5d mark II

    or

    Canon eos 500d

    ?

  • @00bleeding I played with my cousins eos 5d mark ii at a wedding the other day and it is just the best camera i have ever been able to use. Coincidently, my other cousin brought his 500d and i had a go with that to. its a great camera as well but does not have that crisp photo finish or the amazing depth of field the mark ii has . :)

  • @00bleeding Don't you mean 550D?

And they're both completely different kinds of camera/

  • @00bleeding google and check on the price mate..then ull know which is better

  • amazing shot mate , did you used so kind of rig ?

  • Heyy i am desperate. everyone films with a special lense he has bought in addition to the camera. But i really would like to watch a video sample of the cam without any lense that has been bought afterwards. So could you tell me how the quality looks like filming only with the camera as it comes from the package..? thank you

  • @marquessmi You can't use the camera as it is out of the box. You'll be exposing the internal mirror and CMOS which is not a good idea. You can buy a separate lens that's cheaper as long as it's compatible but will definitely not be the quality of the 24-105mm lens that comes with the camera.

If you don't already have a DSLR then your best bet is definitely the 5d Mark II +24-105mm lens kit which costs I believe around $3200. You're only paying about $800 for the lens which is worth twice that.

  • Looks Awesome, did you record the sounds with an external mic? or did you use the onboard one?

  • This camera shits all over my sd1000 lol.

  • Comment removed

  • some wonderful imagery.

  • do you use an external mic for the sound? please reply!

  • FUCKING AMASING!

  • Very nice footage and shots! Well done :)

  • Do you have a boom microphone attached to the camera?

  • señoras que les dan de comer a los patos xDD por cierto vaya pedazo de camara tienes, no me extraña que la hayan utilizado para grabar un episodio de House.

  • Beautiful shots, it looks like you've filmed it with a true 35mm movie camera...

In what speed (fps) you filmed it? Did you used any filters?

    Thank you

  • amazing quality!

  • great quality for the photo camera! I want to buy it :)

  • Amazing video. How did you get the 2x Extender to focus with the 400mm f5.6? My 1.4x works with the taping of the three pins. The 2x attempts to focus when I tape the same three pins but seems one step away from focus when it stops? Any one have any tricks that might work?

  • @jimbox Is this camera able to focus while in Video Mode?

  • how do you record video on the camera, which button actives video recording?

  • The video quality of this one is really crappy compared to part 2. Is that because the 400 prime is better than the 70-200?

  • @odinata The camera can record at 1080p. I think the quality just depends on what compression you use before uploading it on Youtube and Youtube's own compression as well. The video you see here is nowhere near how the original video actually looks. It's compressed at least twice and YT does not use a very high bitrate for its HD videos.

  • Interesting.

  • You can't record HD video using a flash recorder in the HDMI output of the Canon 5D mark II because it's limited to VGA quality. You need to crack the camera to get better quality. Will you crack a camera of this price? I think it's too risky.

  • ducks! yum.

  • Why are the people in the video talking to the goose in a foreign language? Don't they know geese only understand English like they do here?

  • slit your own throat idiot

  • This camera makes a 40 grand Sony f900 look like a peice of shit! It gets VERY close to a RED and kills it in low light and noise levels..Its piss easy to use beware professional camera men and cinematographers like me you are soon to be history

  • @sodiumwinter never... no dslr user is using it for filming purposed. Its the "big thing" to have 1080p ability inside ur DSLR. I never use it, sure I've tried it out when i got the camera, but if I wanted to take clips, i would buy a proper canon video camera not a dslr.

i still mean what ur saying tho:)

  • I use it as a B cam with RED and with a flash recorder and rails matte box etc and carefully graded it cuts in seamlessly. I also use a quarter pro mist filter and soft boxes to combat its weakness in shadow detail and high lights. As long as your not blowing it up to 4 k its great. Just desaturate a bit in post , lower detail and convert to 25f. Yes it doesnt have the build or features , but i enjoy working around it...nce you have it cuts it with the big boys like RED XDCAM , vari cam.

  • @nerxboy

Season finale of House aired 5/17 is shot almost all on 5DMkII. Good enough for them is good enough for me :)

  • @MisterGoodspeed shit.. i didnt know that.. where did u get that info? send me a link if u dont mind. i wanna check out for myself.

  • @nerxboy

Sure, there's first couple of mins in SD linked in this blog.

Damn, can't link. Do a google for philip bloom house 5dmkII

Looks awesome and just goes to show how quickly these things go from gimmick (I thought that initally too), to mainstream tool.

  • @MisterGoodspeed holy fucking shit ur right ;D thanks for the info man :)

  • ahh no it doesn't kill a Sony F900. The data rate is much much less and it records to h.264 codec.

  • Thats why ,i use a flash recorder...with that it looks better big sensor low light what more could you want? in image its better depressing but true i know i have an f900.

  • how do you use a flash recorder with a 5d MarkII? how do you get the video not to capture to h.264 format?

  • convergant makes h.d.m.i to.s.d.i adapters but they are not cheap.

  • I didn't think the 5d MKII would give you full HD output thru HDMI while recording.

  • Holy shit! These optics KILL my FX1 & DVX!

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark II is an a fucking machine!! have a CMOS of 24x36 mm!!!!!!!

  • @luseja yeah full-frame

  • yeah is a fantastic camera! i wish one =/

  • ohaa süper makina..

Türkiye'de kaç paraya satılıyo bilen var mı ?

  • Nice Video... pls check out my short film in video response... completely shot with Canon EOS 5d mark ii...

  • Nice vídeo!

    Marcos Galinari - Blá Filmes

    Brazil

  • whoa~ so nice~~ I'd love one~~ maybe when the next one or two versions come out and the price relaxes a bit ^__^;;;;

  • the t1i looks sharper

  • you couldve just corrected me nicely

  • what the heck. i just gave my opinion.

  • magnifique

  • AN AWESOME CAMERA !

im saving up for that camera :P

  • that's gonna take a hell load of time. An EOS 5D Mark II still goes for $2600 I believe.

  • This is very pretty.

  • Great!..the 1.4 lens gives wonderful Bokeh!..keep up the great work!..

  • My only beef is that it only provides half of the temporal resolution as an HF100 records...

  • the 5D Mk II supports full 1080p, that doesn't sound like half.

  • *Temporal* resolution does not mean *image* resolution. *Temporal* resolution is the amount of information available in *time*.

    It only records in 20 frames/second, whereas the HF100 records in 60 fields/seconds (30 frames/second).

60 interlaced fields / second can be converted to 60 frames per second.

So the HF100 has more than twice the *temporal* resolution than the 5Dii.

  • its also a dedicated video camera...

  • i think ur confusing the hf100 with the t1i which shoots at 720p 30 but 1080 at a retarted 20fps. Are u serious the 5d has a full frame sensor and the hf100 has crappy controls and a 1/3' sensor (which is really good and is the same size as prosumer cams that cost 2k to 6k) but a 5d has a sensor 7x times bigger! The hf100 is not a good cam, the hv30 and hfs100 are much better of the canon hd series for many reasons. The hfs100 is more prosumer the hf100 is more consumer.

  • The HF100 does a great job for a consumer camcorder, but it doesn't perform very well in low light, not surprisingly. In the consumer camcorder category, the HF100 and the other similar Canon camcorders are rates one of the highest.

The stabilizer and sound quality is very good.

And you get a temporal resolution of 60 fields per second.

Eventually, when DSLR's produce faster full frame video, I agree that that would be better. A couple of years I think.

  • 60 fields means interlaced. So 60 fields is the same as 30 fps which is the frame rate of the 5d mark II. I know in post u could change 60i to 60 (done it before) but you slightly speed the video up in the process, so for making film/documentary its useless (cause u can't mix in the same timeline). Its only good for slowmo analysis i guess. The new 7d from canon shoots at 30p 1080, 24p 1080, and now 60p in 720p!! Yes and its sensor is about 4 times bigger than any camcorder. Read up on it.

  • A 60i recording has a snap shot of the world 60 times per second, odd and even interlaced fields each 1/60 second.

60i can be converted to 60p, without loosing vertical resolution, and the video does not get sped up at all, and it has nothing to do with slow motion.

So, read up on de-interlacing, you *think* you completely get it, but you don't, otherwise you'd not be saying things like speed up, and slow motion, because that's wrong.

    60i -> 60p, heck every flat panel tv does this ! ! !

  • i don't understand why when i convert 60i to 60p it speeds up about 5 percent marginally. I change the sequence settings in final cut from 30 fps to 60fps and the clips get slightly sped up. Can u help i can't really find any forums with this topic. Do u use final cut or even compressor or some other non linear editor.

  • Something else that's causing that. Does the sound become too fast too? How about checking out other video programs? They're all a dime dozen....

  • its not a camcorder.. its a DLSR..

  • It's a DSLR with video capability.

The topic is about that video capability.

  • its ofc that it wont be as good as a camcorder to record video.. its not its primary job..

anyway.. the EOS5D is broadcast quality picture.. and videos made by it have been broadcasted**

    **afaik

  • Oooh nice indeed, SLR's + Video well skeptical I am about that. But then again if you look at this, you can use any lens you desire and the DOF is highly improved.

  • What is the best chep lense for this camera?

  • haha that's a hard question to answer. best lenses will cost you a good chunk of the paycheck. Since the 21MP sensor on the MKII is very good, you'll need a lens to go with it. In such case, probably any of the canon's L series. On average, they're about $1000-$1300 but can get much higher with telephoto and unique lenses. but if you have the MKII, you're already a lucky man! haha.

  • Hells yeah Jimbox, this is really really beautiful footage. I'm really impressed by the camera but also by the way you've made it work for you. The composition and DOF are awesome. Can't wait to get hold of this beast. Greetings from Cape Town

  • no cc? then this camera is bad-ass!

favorited. one of the best things on YouTube, i've seen so far!

    favorited.

  • The shot of the peacock is SO BEAUTIFUL.. >_>

  • wonderful video! congrats!....the sound is recorded from the camera ?? it sounds good! until how minutes the camera can record on its memory ?

  • i'm not sure so dont quote me on it but i think it can record about 15min on a 8GB card.

  • I love your video; it is truly nice and pleasant to look at.

I love the part when you can hear a man talks Chinese, and just when you pan left you can see his hands full of food and how he speaks with his hands to the duck. The video a lot more exiting when you can build a story on location with sound and video. And I am not talking only about music.

  • um. that wasnt chinese.

  • sorry.

  • VERY NICE! i want one of these cameras too, what kinda lense were you using?

  • What framerate was this shot at?

    is 24p an option?

  • can you change the exposure and the temperature of the video on that camera?

I' thinking of buying it on 2010 or 2011 once its price goes down at about $1K

  • what shooting settings did u use? and what compression/export settings? And what software do you use to edit?

    PELASE REPLY

  • I got the firmware upgrade since I left this question. It won't do aperture priority (unfortunately), but it will allow full manual control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO all together.

  • Does this camera have autofocus while shooting video?

  • no. Their are third party people making a very fancy follow focus for this around 600 dollars...all these films are about bokeh...using a narrow depth of field with the new firmware, I imagine. Nice warmth, too.

  • SHURE

  • really the quality is far superior to anything in it's pricerange, and it's just an extra feature of a photocamera!

  • Nice shots.

You and your viewers should visit the smart pod channel to check out a unique camera and video mount accessory that attaches just about anywhere. It works well with all cameras.

    Also, looking for product reviewers.

    Thanks,

  • SWEEEEET, this is the next camera im looking at

  • WOW ... amazing... :)

  • This camera is amazing!

  • I think you would do well with little more DOF to keep the whole bird in focus, doesn't look very nice when only the birds ass is in focus.

  • pero porque no te haces romper el ogt a ver si le podemos hacer foco bien al momento

  • Love it! What techniques did you use to control aperture?

  • new firmware for 5D will give you aperture priority with the 5D Mark II.

  • beautiful!!!

  • Radical sweetness.

Excuse me now, while I go into "wishful thinking" mode, and try to convince myself that : "If I can just wait long enough, the price will drop."

"If I can just wait long enough, the price will drop."

"If I can just wait long enough, the price.....

  • this is QUALITY!
