So my "cheesy" comment came from me feeling extremely inadequate even attempting to cover this beautiful and powerful song.

@MendingSilence The original song was recorded by the band Steelheart. For the movie "Rockstar" a fictional band called Steel Dragon is credited for the song in the movie and on the movie soundtrack. There are a few differences too in the original recording and the movie version but the cool thing is the orignal singer does the vocals for the movie version.

@SDCDIABLO Thanks! Yeah the first version I heard of this song was actually from the movie and I thought overall it was a pretty solid rock song. Then my buddy gave me the Steelheart album and the original version is definitely different. It's kind of new age sounding, maybe experimental at the time, but it was refreshing to hear. It gave me more respect for Steelheart, which I had wrote off back in high school when I was more into rap and R&B.
