I used to defend Frankie boyles and steward lees style of comedy and now I just realize they are just horrible people who wanted to be famous. After reading his autobiography, Michael was just someone who wanted to make as many people as he could laugh. Michael is the genuine article, and far too nice a person to make jokes about dead babies or sexual remarks about disabled children. We need to demand higher standards for ourselves and the TV stations that put this excuse for comedy on air!

Michael McIntyre talks about how guys get dressed in changing rooms, and their willies' hang out. Great art should make us ask new questions, or look at something in a new way. Michael McIntyre's whole routine is about confirming what the audience already knows. That is not art.

I'm eternally grateful for clever comedians (believe me, because I live in Japan and there's no clever comedy over here) but I'm grateful for more commercial comedians too. Daniel Kitson was once in the toilet at a break in one of his gigs and he heard some audience members talking and he really didn't like what they were speaking about, and decided he didn't want these kind of people at his gigs anymore. So, he deliberately made himself more alternative and harder to grasp. Also QI isn't intellectual or alternative comedy.

Michael has nicked a substantial part of his act from Louis CK, but who cares. He's mainstream now. He's been on the circuit long enough. Stealing jokes doesn't matter. Les Dennis doesn't care so why should McIntyre. I'm sure one day he'll write his own.
