That doesn'tleave much room for large people: only 5 6+foot people with a decent frame. Less if there's a weight problem, or muscle-heads. That is weak. Wonder if it's an error? Don't want to find out.

looks like it used to be like the one in JCPenney at Ross Park Mall. Sears always modernizes there elevators.

They probably want consistancy between the store's appearances. They seem to all look alike, especially when the stores themselves get a design redo.
