@emtildeath You cannot vinyl wrap an actual mirror chrome look. It's a silver-nitrate paint that is painted on. Search "how to chrome plastic" on Youtube and you'll see how it's done, quite amazing to see a piece of plastic turn into a chrome piece.

I've got a neighbor with a Shelby Cobra replica (yet another 427 body style kit car... ugh) and he had it painted in Cosmichrome. He literally uses a diluted glass cleaner out of a spray bottle to clean smudge spots and tire-shine overspray off of it.

Personally, I think he should've gotten an aluminum-bodied replica and had it polished, but instead he got fiberglass and had it painted. To each his own. .

none of these cars are chrome :) that Audi A8 is in fact just polished prepainted aluminum out of which they make all A8 cars.

@spanky489 ok you got it right with the A8 but the rest are inface chrome painted. for example the Tvr Sagaris is infact Fibre Glass so would have to be painted to make it chrome.

@04cscholes most of these cars are in fact polished metal my friend, chromium can only be applied to aluminum, zinc and another metal i cant remember right now, and its just easier to polish a metal because it loses its porosity which gives it a "chrome" look. im a metallurgist in the making and i know my metals sir, i can even tell you the basis of all this through crystal structures.

@spanky489 They are not polished metal, or plated metal. They are painted with a new paint with an extreemely finely ground pigment. If they were polished metal, the plastic parts (like bumpers) would not shine,a dn the different metals (like the die-cast door handles and mirror housings) would not match the steel body color. Also, steel does not polish up to such a bright white color. Chromium can be applied to many metals, including brass, bronze, steel and nickel.

@tomato6999 You would have to check what material your body is made of, sometimes it is made from different materias to evenly distribute weight, if its 100% Aluminum or any of its alloys you can etch the paint off and polish the bare aluminum it will create a shine like in the pictures above, considering you will have to polish the car regularly. Of course im speaking theoretically my friend i have a masters in mechanical engineering taking a few coarses of metallurgy.

and ill tell you a secret, dont chrome paint it-it decreases the hardness of the aluminum, you crash a car with a chrome coated body and you are a dead man, because it doesnt absorb as much impact energy as before.
