Same here; I've been doing this kind of thing since I was, what, 11. XD You can do this to a Mac, too (and you can boot it into Open Firmware to clear it).

You can't boot into Open Firmware on an Intel Mac, although you can still run the nvram command (but preface it with sudo) ;)

Right, otherwise you're not running it as root, which means permissions errors.

I don't have an Intel Mac, so I boot into Open Firmware every once in a while to clear NVRAM out (usually if I've done something to cause a crash). I remember one time I tried manipulating an extremely large amount of icons, which caused a kernel panic.

Open Firmware isn't used on Intel Macs because it's not supported by the processor architecture; they use EFI (don't think there's a way to boot into that, though.)

I've removed a string of comments because they were all pretty horrible. To sum it up, some people were making fun of me for giving out my IP address, I told them that it's a local IP address, and then they told me that I can be hacked even if someone knows only my local IP address (which for the record is wrong, plus I'm on a Mac anyway, and I have a NAT firewall)
