  • its got nothing to do with japanese anime nor does it reflect its style. the writer is swedish-finn. this was animated and produced orginally in finland and originally published in sweden. finland even has a theme park dedicated to the moomins. none of the animation process was done in japan nor does it reflect japanese style. the cartoons simply reflect the style of the artist ans author who made the moomins: Tove Jansson

  • @alisajoosab91 lol did you notice all the Japanese names in the credits? Animated in Japan, the heart and soul of Finland (and Sweden).

  • so hang on... is this a Japanese Anime or a Finnish Cartoon? :/

  • @Cardcaptor1996

It's a Swedish-Finnish franchise, but the show itself is a Japanese Anime.

  • @sega310982

Right....I'm glad thats cleared up now :D

I didn't realise how much animie i watched as a kid... I just used to think they were all english cartoons xD

  • I'm sorry, but comforting? This show terrified me for some reason.

  • @lshaw17 haha me to i remember being freaked out by the guy in the green and the little ginger woman

  • Search for: "Mumins ending song (german Pierre Kartner)" The most beautiful version!

  • The most beautiful version:

    youtube.com/watch?v=taLUMUAkR5A&feature=feedf

  • God I'd love to be a moomin LOL

  • freaky looking bastards, damn i loved em :)

  • With this english song i dont wonder anymore why some countries wont allow moomins in the tv.. This sucks so bad. Its like some propaganda

  • Nepali version is the best but i cannot find a good quality of the song

  • Was just thinking how long the credits went on for. I'm surpised CBBC in the UK showed them in full without squashing them down.

  • @Meanmanmartin2007 They did squash some of them down I have a lot taped on video, the song was squished from here, 0:00 - 0:22 to here, 0:51 seconds :/

Dunno what they did with the text, probs sped the text up or something :S

  • @vulpix2007 Now you've mentioned it, I didn't think the theme tune went on as long on the episodes I saw. Thanks for explaining what happened.

  • @Meanmanmartin2007 Np :)

But I don't think they did it with all of them, I remember all of the ending theme and all of my Moomins eps were taped on video from CBBC. It probs varies depending on how busy the day is :)

  • David Graham did the Daleks and Thunderbirds! and Susan Sheridan was in Noddy, The Litttle Polar Bear and THe Lampies! Kewl! 2 of the UK's most greatest voices!

  • @vocrobot the books are finnish-swedish, not swedish. ugh..

  • This was recorded in Cardiff?

I don't live too far from there... Wow.

  • mmm i love his voice

  • Waaaugh, I have some vague recollection of this song from watching it when I was very small. DAMN IT I want to live in the Moominvalley and pick flowers and skip in circles.

  • "They love the laughter and they love the women, the Moomins"

  • I may have had a misunderstanding of the Cardiff mention because I don't know if the theme music was recorded there or if the cartoon was made there.

  • @Stompgal The song might have been recorded there, I'm not sure, but the cartoon was made in Japan.

  • @ItsSitka The cartoon's Finnish

  • @ItsSitka The cartoon's Finnish

  • @ItsSitka The cartoon's from Finland.

  • @ItsSitka No, this is a cartoon lol so it couldn't have been made in Japan (their animations are known as Anime), this was produced in Finland and released into the UK in the 1980's.

    Peace

  • @MaffiasAngelO88 It was animated in Japan beginning in 1990, and all the storyboarding etc was done there. If you look closely, you'll see the anime style, though it's not super apparent since the character designs aren't anime-styled.

  • 0:50 Cardiff?! BOOYAH! SCORE ONE FOR THE WELSH!

  • I remember this from my childhood. I was just singing this to my mum! I love the song, shame the blokes voice is awful.

  • *sniff*...So much lovely memories, I always watched this when I was young with my sister~ ;w; <3

  • I've been looking for this song for aaages... I thought it was the intro.

  • The Moomin Valley. A place without religion, war or sexual discrimination. That's what the author intended.

  • The 1990s really were great years for animation.

  • 20 years since 1990...

    ...O_o

  • this cartoon was shit but I definately remember the theme tunes lol

  • i used to love this when i was a kid. hmv sell it i still love im thinking of buying the dvds. =)

  • Muumitaloa ei lukita yöksi...... :=)

  • @TaraKea Ei muumitaloa lukita yöksi... ;D

  • this scared me as i kid, i had no idea what was going on half the time :O

  • finnish and swedish themes is better :D but this good too :) ♥ sry my bad english...

  • Ahh <3 Moomins... Thank you Tove and Lars Jansson <3

  • such an awsome show, its funny when i was a kid i didnt find this strange at all.

  • the moooooomins!

  • I wish i had one of those pink clouds to ride on :D

  • watching this is like having some kind of soft pillow-man massage your brain with its fingers of comfort

  • I can relate to that!

  • @misterlaufeyson ha ha ha ha verry good!

  • @misterlaufeyson unfortunately I can only thumb this comment up and not clap for it. well but I still did clap. however for me it should be 'pillow-women'.

  • What the hell was that show about? its a rhetorical question.

  • Is there a japanese version of this theme?

  • No, there isnt. the japanese op/end are very different

  • There is a Finnish version of this theme, however. Possibly a Swedish one as well, I'm not sure.

  • yeah theres a swedish one...

all other languages besides jap have this song :p..well..im pretty sure of it. ive seen it in many

  • ehhh...all the scandinavian country's got "Moomin" its called in Norway "I mummidalen". Now those rock!!!!

  • @ItsSitka;

Most western countries versions use this melody in the outro theme. Some mid-east and far-east countries have different outro song melodies used (usually some background music took from the TV show and rearranged as vocal song)

  • @ItsSitka the original is in swedish-finnish

  • @ItsSitka i know there's estonian too but i can't find it anywhere :'(

  • @ItsSitka Tove Jansson was fennosvede, meaning her native language was swedish. So yes, the series in also in swedish, meaning the themesongs as well.

And in fact, because the swedish voiceacting is, of course, fennosvede, so in Sweden, the swedish fennosvedes (and other finns) talk has becomed really popural. They call it muminsvenska.

"Du talar så vackra muminsvenska", they say.

  • @ItsSitka There is a japanese version.

  • @MattRaizoku The Japanese one has different music though (I actually prefer it tbh). The Finnish and Swedish versions use this same music but with lyrics in those languages.

  • @ItsSitka There's also a Dutch version of this one. :)

  • @Halick of course there is one lol

  • @Halick There is also one on danish, I know cous I come from denmark and when I was a kid, this cartoon was one of my favorit.

And there is also one on japanese

  • @Halick

    Yes, there is.

  • awesome. one of the best kids shows of the 90s

  • oh gosh I remember this 0.o very lovely

  • So lovely~ ;0;
