Skiing for beginners

Now about skis.

What is a forgiving ski? I wanna buy a pair and I dont want the beginner ski, just to buy again next year. Im on the northeast and I'm about as good as this dude . A pair of volkl ac20 used on cl is about 300

I just DID THAT YESTERDAY on the Poconos - Alpine!! The top of the slope was all iced up, and no matter how much I tried to stop, i couldn't and ended up going off a jump about 20 ft in the air at 35 mph and handed hard about 40 feet downslope with me skis 30 feet downhill even further. Thanking god i didn't break anything, just have a LOT of blackened bruises and "ice-rash" on about 2/3rds of my back.
