@AlienShip95 If you know anything about the context of field hollers and folk spirituals, the last adjective that should come to mind would be "brilliant."
@LongTallYamlaJay I'm not sure what your problem is, but if you know anything about the definition of the world "brilliant" the last thing that should come to mind would be that I was referring to the subject matter as a positive thing rather than the song as a great one. I called the song brilliant because it's so deeply sorrowful and authentic, and obviously the history of it is a big part of that.
@LongTallYamlaJay Seriously, what is wrong with you? I just explicitly said that I wasn't calling the subject matter positive, and you ridiculously misread my comment again! You are obviously so set on pinning me as some supporter of slavery that you misinterpreted what I said to the exact opposite of what I meant. Go back and read my comment again, I think the syntax and sentence structure may have tripped you up the first time.
@AlienShip95 Dear sir, I have no interest whatsoever in pinning a specific person down as anything. My responses were to posted comments.
The syntax continues to trip me. Punctuation might help clarify what I now understand as your intent, "but if you know anything about the definition of the world 'brilliant,' the last thing that should come to mind would be that I was referring to the subject matter as a positive thing; rather it is the song that I find great." Or add "to" before "the song"
@LongTallYamlaJay Now if your trying to tell me you don't think it's an amazing song, then I guess I understand the point of your comment, but if you were just assuming I was a clueless person who was doing anything else than appreciating the quality of the song, then I really can't wrap my head around how you could misread what I said so ridiculously.
Fantastic! Glad I lived long enough to see him. Better than elvis, beatles and bob dylan (who was great at writing but damn, all he can't sing, all he can do is grunt.) Those still living & playing might just as well stay home.
Paolos absolutely brilliant, amazing even, in his own category.. He can only get better, and i cant wait to hear his future material, but if you are going to leave numerous comments dont repeat yourself, and write something thats more realistic :)
Fantastic! Glad I lived long enough to see him. Better than elvis, beatles and bob dylan (who was great at writing but damn, all he can't sing, all he can do is grunt.)
like it better than Vera Hall. Sorry Vera. I can understand the words when he sings but not when talks, I'm sorry to say. I've tried. Need a course in Scots English.
Wow! He's so talented it just takes your breath away! So talented at such a young age. I hope he doesn't burn out. Or have some nasty upset with manager or producers, or whoever, stealing money......man, he's cool in front of a crowd.
excellent set!!!! crowd look pissed off,if it woz me there i would stick out like a sore thumb coz i would be the 1 jumpin about like a man possessed i thought the crowd would be rite up for paolo they were at T in the park wich in my opinion is the better festival now cant wait to see paolo this year woz lucky 2 get pair o tickets and wot aline up it is this year best ever
@McSweetex24 Becuas they are all baked, i went other year and everyone was smoking weed was crazy, the tent next to me i don't think ever actully went to any of the music... they just got high
Well actually "Trouble So Hard" is an old gospel song that Moby used a sample of in his song "Natural Blues". So Technically he is singing "Trouble So Hard". However on a radio show Paolo said he was covering the Moby song "Natural Blues". Then again he might have changed the title to avoid paying royalties to Moby (probably large) so he would only have to pay royalties to the estate of whoever it is singing this on the Alan Lomax collection cd
I love this song by Paolo..I also like the more acoustic version that he has aswell. His accent, his voice, just him in general are absolutely gorgeous!
serious man

@AlienShip95 If this is "positive" "subject matter," why not enslave another couple million people and flog them for a couple centuries.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
As we say in Brazil, "taste is not to be discussed... it is to be pitted" :-)
Moby's version is sampled on the authetic vocals by Vera Hall. Close to that this baby face screeching voice is very bad joke.
