1986, basically: Hogan squashes everyone. Funny how he faced the likes of Bundy and Savage back then as well, and later on they were huge money matches. People forget easily
This when wrestling was wrestling no garbage no drama. superstarsof wrestling on saturdays going to the hamburg field house to see andre the giant and hulk hogan and roddy piper in the early days of there careers the 80s were the greatest for wrestling
Freakin beautiful video, I love the unabashed patriotism in it too that makes stuck up college professors and journalists roll their eyes. I Love how Hogan desecrated the Soviet Flag in the ring, probably too politically incorrect for today and I love the harleys, cowboys sheer bravado of it all. Wrestling sucks today because it is losing it's southern roots, get back to the South
@Daemonocracy Wrestling today is too interested in "entertainment" and having actors and crap in it. There are no jobbers so matches are "special" anymore and they give too much of what happens behind the scenes up. That was the biggest mistake that idiot Vince did! It's like showiong how all the magic tricks are done before you watch the magician...you have no interest as it's not spectacular anymore!
@spyguybuy Name one country that has liberated more people than the USA. that's right, you can't, because you sissies sit around and talk all day then come crying to us at the first sign of trouble. Funny thing is, you are so insecure with your inadequacy as men, that you hate yourselves for needing us so much.
@spyguybuy What wars did we start? The American Revolution, we actually avoided taking up arms until it was no longer possible. The American civil War? The south fired the first shot and secession is illegal. Spanish American War? Yes, we liberated Cuba and drove Spain out of the Americas. WW1? WW2? Are you upset the Germans lost? Vietnam? The French got involved in Vietnam first, to combat the spread of Soviet/Chinese backed communism, we joined them and stuck around longer.
@spyguybuy Noriega in Panama? He was a menace and leader of a Drug cartel, good riddance. Operation Desert Storm? Hussein invaded Kuwait for their oil with plans to move on to Saudi Arabia, we put a stop to it. Kosovo? We prevented Genocide. Somalia? We were there to prevent genocide. Afghanistan? Al Qaeda attacked us (NOT the first time), the Taliban gave them refuge, we invaded. Iraq? Well if you're upset Saddam is gone, too bad for you America is NOT perfect, but we have a lot to be proud of.
@spyguybuy You are driven by ignorance, no surprise. Iran funds suicide bombers in Israel, as did Hussein. Iran kidnapped American diplomats during the Carter administration and houses enemies of America and brutalizes their own citizens, but I guess that's your kind of government. Russia invaded Afghanistan, occupied Eastern Europe, delivered Nukes to Cuba, Occupies Chechnya and recently invaded Georgia. North Korea would invade South Korea, USA stops them. China - Tibet, Taiwan (we protect)
I snagged this a while back from a wrestling forum. This was the first year I watched wrestling religiously. I miss these days so much. Old school Wrestling Challenge, Superstars of Wrestling, All American Wrestling, Prime Time, SNME, Wrestling Spotlight. What a great year to be a fan. I can't stomach it anymore.
Ah! That opening theme of this song was the opening song on the WrestleMania game for NES when the match would start. I always wondered where that song came from.
i'll admit i was a hogan fan back in '85 when i first started watching wrestling. but by the time '86 rolled around, it turned out that i liked all the heels far better. mostly because hogan's act got stale fast and the heels were far more fun (piper, heenan, orndorf, ventura, muraco, etc.) not to mention i discovered a little promotion called the NWA :p
@keithyw I was a big Hogan fan back then too but was more of a fan of Orndorff due to his build. Hogan wasn't stale for me for a long time mainly because you hardly saw him on T.V. Mainly on SNME and sometimes local shows in Toronto. They didn't overuse a heavyweight champion on television so the champion seemed "special".
@gymrat29 true. it was rare seeing Hogan on TV. i remember my first SNME and how i was freaking out because they had Studd/Bundy vs Andre/Hogan. huge dream match back then. i loved Orndorff's turn when it happened. i remember how he invited Bundy/Studd into the ring to take care of Hogan. good times :)
@jeremy6238100 Well, both wrestlers do work with eachother behind the scenes, going over and practicing maneuver after maneuver with eachother, to see if it works and if the crowd buys it. So, I'm pretty sure some of the same moves were used in the other match.
In New York, this was the first WWF TV show to air on Fox (then WNYW, if I remember correctly) Channel 5, after years of the WWF being seen on WWOR Channel 9. I remember turning the channel dial on my TV and being shocked to see WrestleMania 2 highlights (as seen later in this episode) on my TV and on Channel 5.
@wndebu Hogan, from what I remember, was originally a rule breaker. i think only in Japan when he was facing guys like Inoki, you'd see him wrestle more pure scientific based wrestling. in the states, i think his style varied very little but people just dug his gimmick of hulking up and his interviews/patriotic stance.
Im so sick of running into comments from u little faggots on how wrestling is fake. WE KNOW ITS FAKE. And a wrestling fan loves it reguardless...Just like how your favorite movie and TV show is fake too...So why do u keep watching it over and over again...its just a move, acting, ITS FAKE..Now fuck off.
videos like this creeped me out cause i was too young when they came out. Now to watch this is very interesting.....the Hogan package is so lame it makes me laugh
Cmon this video suck big time 1986 is not only about hogan in wrestling lol the guy only having clothesline-bodyslam-bigboot and legdrop even Cena is better than Hulk on the ring.
Hogan having 4moves
Cena having 5moves
The best of best of all time in wrestling world was Ric Flair wooooooo even in 1986 Flair was biiiig.
Ahhh, mon Friend... that is what I had said to the initial comment.. and you should respond to the original comment with that same view point... Thanks for agreeing with me!!
This is the first time im seeing any wrestling from '86 and i can say that wrestling was a spectacle back then, now its just something that happens. You never hear crowd responses like that anymore.
why it wouldve been ugly. We all know hogan cant actually wrestle worth a shit its just that no one realized that until his era was over. Hell John Cena may as well be billed as Hulk Hogan 2 b/c wwe is using him just like they did hogan and their in-ring skill is the same ZERO.
