  • you wasted my time on this bullshit? fuck you, there is no comparison of tony iomy and jimmy page....

  • Dazed and confused was recorded 1 year before paranoid. Jimmy page never ripped off them, but dazed and confused was rip offed of jake holmes song ''im confused''. Jimmy page reworked the song with a new riff.

  • OH MY GOD, 2 rock bands used similar pentatonic riffs! Stop the fucking press.

  • It is a fact that Iommi wrote the riff after hearing Zeppelin dazed and confused . I have read the interview

  • yeah yeah two great songs

  • two great songs

    the riff isnt similar

    no much

  • similar but different, and it's only the opening riff.

  • its OK because Zeppelin covered dazed and confused and plus they ripped off most of their riffs anyways

  • @upsetMISFIT First, no one is saying that it´s not ok, as you can read in the video text. Second, I hope you really don´t believe that they ripped most of their riffs, do you?

  • @Clemenzaa dude its a known fact that zeppelin took a lot of blues riffs and changed them a bit get your facts strait OK

  • @Clemenzaa dude its a known fact that zeppelin took a lot of blues riffs and changed them a bit get your facts strait OK like i would have no problem with it but they gave zero credit to a lot of the artists

  • @upsetMISFIT The fact that you can't even spell 'straight' suggests that you are either illiterate or 12 years old (or both!), so you're not worth the bother of educating.

  • @Bodycage lol I win deal with it grammer attack means crying zep fan

  • @upsetMISFIT 'grammer' haha, you can't even spell the word. Owned yourself again, kid.

  • @Bodycage lol I have English as a second language so keep attacking my grammar you still are just crying because Zep rip off all of their songs. Attacking grammar is the worst way to try and argue with somebody it shows you cant keep topic because you lost or you are to dumb to understand the situation...I.E you

  • @upsetMISFIT "because zep rip off all of their songs"......please, child, we are still waiting for this 'list' of ripped off songs from you :)

  • @Bodycage Dude listen to 90% of early 60's and late 50's blues songs i love Zep but they are not 100% original. I'm not going to go search up all these 50's blues songs and link them to you believe what you want but anybody who knows anything about zep knows they did rip off a lot of songs

  • @Bodycage Hahahahaha, how did I know that you wouldn't be able to answer...

  • @Clemenzaa i guess i should say this also it wasn't always the riff at points they ripped off whole songs just changed them a bit god man every body knows that get with it

  • @upsetMISFIT which whole songs, please? You're talking nonsense, kid.

  • @Clemenzaa sorry to say but zepplin did rip off alot of riffs even there signiture song whole lotta love was a rip off from some older blues band, do some research and you will see

  • @bdoginit01 Please, list these riffs. It's hilarious that you regurgitate such garbage. The reality is, they credited a few tracks where they either took inspiration/lyrics. Your comment is typically internet sensationalist bullshit, so well done for perpetuating that.

  • @Bodycage Hey Dipshit.....Who Gives a fuck in the first place?.....It was 7 months ago when i made a shitty comment about a shitty band......So do me a favor and fuck off.....It's done and over

  • @bdoginit01 Yeah, it was a shitty comment haha. You owned yourself, kid,

  • @upsetMISFIT This riff isn't present in the folk version of Dazed and Confused by Jake Holmes. Nor is the drumming, the heavy metal part, the bass guitar, the lyrics. The name is the same and the bass riff (which can't be called a riff actually because it's very simple) is the same.

  • @m3th0dman2005 who cares if Sabbath copied Zeppelin anyways which they obviously didn't Zeppelin used to rip off whole songs

  • @upsetMISFIT they did not copy, zeppelin and sabbath were at the same time

  • @Ben0itZ if you read post i say they obv didn't plus im a huge huge HUGE Sabbath fan so I obv know they are the same time DUH!

  • @Ben0itZ No shit really duh read my post also. + im a HUGE!!!! sabbath fan you cant tell me facts especially such an obvious one as that !

  • @upsetMISFIT me too i was saying that cuz you said they copied but they definatley didnt

  • @upsetMISFIT Haha, you are seriously ignorant if you genuinely think that, although you're no doubt regurgitating it in an attempt to sound cool and edgy. Please, list the riffs they "ripped off"?

  • Holy shit thats true!!! They probably didn't even realize it.

  • NOT.. dudes... any guitar player will tell you these two riffs are very different, Dazed uses six notes in that riff, and Paranoid uses 8, if you wanna analyze music similarities there are thousands of tunes that use the same notes, some played differently and some with different tonal sounds. lets just play it backwards and see what it says !

  • Then years later you have guitarist like Slash and Kirk Hammett who take from Hendrix, Zeppelin, Sabbath, and they filter the sound through their mind, soul, body, and fingers and they make it their own.

ALL musicians take from other musician.

For music is just an idea come to life.

And it is good to share your ideas with the world.

  • Both riffs sound similar because both guitarist (Page and Iommi) probably had similar musical influences.

They both grew up learning to paly blues.

So they probably listened to a lot of the same musicians.

    That's how music works.

Example, Robert Johnson probably has the greatest influence on most rock musicians from the '50s-'90s.

He pretty much created blues and everyone took what they could from that.

    Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Iommi.

  • @jordanmacintosh702 also they all grew up together

  • Now I know why Paranoid looks so familiar when I hear it although I do not hear it often.

I am very used with Dazed and Confused, which I hear it regularly.

  • Tony iommi did say in an interview inside Guitar World, "We just wanted to be Led Zeppelin."

  • Definitely taken. Well, I guess Toni just ripped off a rifffrom a ripped off song.

  • @NeverAloneForever yes page did kinda steal the dazed and confused but in my opinion he did so much with the song that it made it his own

  • @zoso522 Kinda steal? No, Toni Iommi kinda stole the break riff (one thing Page actually did write in the song) for the song Paranoid . . . seeing how it is only about ten seconds of the intro. Page actually stole a piece of music. There's a big difference there. Besides this riff, musically Page only put in his own mid section. That's hardly a major part of Dazed and Confused. The only thing left (the main part of the song) is Jake Holmes' music. That falls into the category of cover.

  • @NeverAloneForever of course the main riff was a steal but look how much he did with it, the wa intro, the mid riff, the bow solo, guitar solo, and the outro. but they shouldve have given jake holmes credit like you said.

  • @zoso522 I concur. Just like "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" Page did make new arrangements to it. The difference being that Page changed the music only along with "Whole Lotta Love".

It's apparent that Page is quite the revisionist when you listen to both songs.

As for what he wrote, the wah intro is apart of the chords. The bow solo/guitar solo is the mid section. The start of the mid section is the outro. Jake Holmes had all of them except for a mid riff.

    Plant planted the lyrics, right?

  • i noticed that and in iron man too. ozzy copies zeppelin ALOT! like the IE IE IE in crazy train he copied that from Dazed and Confused too

  • besides this riff there's intense similarities between zeppelin and sabbath that are undenaible. They're both rock bands from the 70's completely influenced by the blues, but i'm glad you captured this song. It's a good song, but not a bad song, now I'M GOING TO GO KILL SOMEBODY.....!!!!!

  • I didn´t get the part with good song bad song and killing someone :)

  • @Clemenzaa babe im gonna leave you and killing yourself to live also have a simliar riff

  • @Clemenzaa I think he wont answer, he most be in jail right now.

  • there in different time signatures.

  • this is not a break through discovery. its pretty obvious. waste of time to make the video

  • I don´t remember myself writing anything about break through discovery.

It is obvious, of course, since it´s the same riff, isn´t it? Yet not everyone realizes that...

I rather think that posting such a comment as yours was waste of time...

  • Is that Paranoid from the Randy Roads Tribute album? About the similarities, I've always that Both Songs had the same riff in one part. Good Call Mate.

  • To be honest, I don´t know :)

    Thanks!

  • Well, first of all these are the two greatest

    bands of all time!

But yes, they do sound similar

In the "Symptom of the Universe:

    The Original Black Sabbath 19701978"

booklet, Geezer Butler says that they

listened to LZ and mentions that

Led Zeppelin "paved the way" for them

and that the rest of the band had to talk

him into doing Paranoid because he thought it sounded too much like Led Zeppelin. But who cares - best bands and great songs. Long live Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath!!

  • True, man, true... who cares, especially when they admitted the similarity...

  • i thought so. thx for posting this so i can send to my friends and prove it!

  • You are welcome mate...

  • really? I didn´t know that... interesting... it´s a great song anyway...

  • well Iommi has said that Paranoid was written in about 15 minutes to fill a track on the record.. so maybe they picked a couple of ideas from Dazed to make the song

  • the singing sections of paranoid also sound alot like the riff in Communications Breakdown
