  • The last piece has probably been sped up as The Crave has. The Crave is actually in D but its playing back in E flat due to the tempo being sped.

  • @jakehenryuk you know you can actually speed up a song without changing the key, even on garageband right?

  • and this is the Italian school of cinema!!!

    one of best movie ever!!

  • Did you notice that when Morton is playing the left hand "stride" part, the camera is off the keyboard? Maybe Clarence Williams III (the actor) couldn't play that fast. Stride can get really hard when it's sped up, which is why they probably spared him from having his left hand jump left and right 4 times a second. Any ideas?

  • Fingerbuster > some random crazy freestyle played by 1900 at the end.

  • someone got pwnd!

  • ?you do know that its not tim roth plays the piano right

  • @gagovich100 yes there's a musician playing that piece, not tim roth. Obviously Tim Roth isn't a pianist.

  • @Santosificationable i wanna find the musician that could play this

  • he bended him over.

  • the magic starts from 3:11

  • 43 people fucking SUCK!

  • WoooHoooo! Now that is some SERIOUS piano playing! And that last dude was SERIOUSLY HOT! 05:25 HaHaHaHaHaHahaHa! Show em how it's done, 1900. :o)

  • Damn, didn't know Roth could play so well.

  • Ahhh... 240p. We meet again!

  • @Snipehunter09

    shut up

  • This pianO. Makes Me love

  • EL VUELO DEL MOSCARDON...

  • The audience must be idiots to boo down such magnificent listening skills. Playing a piece by ear at the spot would require someone of sufficiently advanced musical maturity and sensitivity. Take Art Tatum, who, when he was challenged by Bud Powell, said, "look, you come in here tomorrow, and whatever your left hand does, I'll do with my right".

Interesting to know that there ARE indeed people who could do such marvelous deeds.

  • @Santosificationable Good point. Most musical audiences are really not very musically educated.

  • hahaha 5:01 I want some of that purple stuff...

  • anyone know where I can download this song? and not regular version that you can find that ennio morricone does, but THIS exact version where he rolls the bottom chords. sounds soooo much better with it.

  • hahahaha, I love how he makes everyone's jaw open. I freaking love this movie!

  • I absolutely love how 1900 imitates Jelly Roll Morton so exactly that he even replicates his mistakes.

  • My brain just exploded from that last piece which must mean that my brain can grow back since I've watched this sooooo many times in the past lol

  • nevermind...foun it :))

  • こんなんで火つくか!

    とツッコミたいが、面白いですね!

    大好きな映画でした。

  • He is such a prick! But you gotta love him! :)

  • one of the greatest films ever made.

reminds me of the titanic, but The Titanic was mindless crap compared to this movie.

Tim roth is a great actor.

look up early tim roth films called 'meantime' and 'made in britain' made before he went to USA and became the big star he is now.

tim roth came from one of the biggest slum shitholes in thatchers england.and escaped to the new world and made his fortune ,Good luck to him.

  • Thats a cool way to light a smoke lol

  • xD

  • I believe that is called "Pulling a Chuck Norris"

  • Ennio Morricone and Giuseppe Tornatore, ladies and gents... This is an amazing piece of art. I would not tire from this.

  • Where's your god now?? LOL....

  • just watched this motion in picture again and it's a wonder-full tale & music. 10x.

  • ooo yeahh i got it .. Jelly Roll Morton "Finger Breaker" but it not same version just like in 1900

  • what the song which Jelly Roll Morton plaing on 1:15 ?? how i can find it ?

  • @goshapsplayer It's called "Finger Breaker"

  • hmh... the pieces doesnt seem to be hard and the last one is physically not possible to play by one person, I think

  • @orleomarty

yes its a piece for 2 pianos, and what you hear playback is played by 2 pianos. its intentional, because the symbolic and poetic idea of the original story is that this pianist was said to sound as if he had 4 hands.

  • my fav m0vie i love 1900 me and my dads fav part is the duel

  • kicking ass!!!

  • And fuck jazz too

  • Like a BOSS

  • "AND FUCK JAZZ TOO!!!" best line ever...

  • Dayum, he got served.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my God.... does Tim Roth really play on piano like that or has he a doubling actor??

  • 4 hands looks like a kid annoying you while you're trying to play

  • 3:30 ORGAAAAAAAASM

  • If anyone is wondering, the version 1900 plays of The Crave here is slightly more difficult and you can hear in his improvisation that he is just messing around.

  • Is that Flight of the Bumblebee???

  • 3:36 Mind fuck

  • if you only look at the scenes of his face, and not his playing, youd swear he's being controlled by a demon D:

  • You have to love those "Who's The Bitch Now?" Moments.

  • Is that really possible to play that 1900's last song with one person?

  • @ippei2mamoru

The last piece is called "Enduring Movement" by Italian composer Ennio Morricone. It's a piano composition for 4 hands so, no, a solo pianist could never perform that in it's original version.

  • @ippei2mamoru

Oh, unless said piano player is Goro from Mortal Kombat...

...or Chuck Norris (in this case the piano would play itself out of fear).

  • @svevo goro would shatter the piano

  • Speed, it's not what can best-represent music

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Fantastic scene, bravo.

  • 3:07 The war started!

  • he asked for that!

  • "You asked for that asshole" I came

  • Stick that in your ass and smoke it. That's what he shoulda said.

  • what is the name's last song???

  • @2hyqtanto "Enduring Movement" by Ennio Morricone

  • danh qua vai dai

  • super! super!

  • believe it or not, the crazy fast song 1900 plays was actually recorded by one guy who actually played it. it's the guy who wrote all the original pieces for the movie, Ennio Morricone.

  • fucking photographer!!! he destroys my headphones!!!

  • @MusicGeneration2008 You should have turned the volume lower :)

  • and at 4:48 my head explodes

  • The audience in the film was pissed off to hear the same piece of music played by 1900 - but I wasn't.... I loved the piece and was happy to hear it twice! In fact of the 937 593 times it's been played on Youtube, 937 500 times was me.

  • what is the songs name that 1900 plays with 4 hands??pls reply!

  • @MYNAMEISJOHNIS put it down on me - 50 cent ft. jeremiah

  • @schutzstaffel1000 suck your own dick.

  • @MYNAMEISJOHNIS you too(sucker who don't know to search for a soundtrack)

  • @jbryner05 ty mate!!

  • From 2:56 and on (about 3 1/2 minutes of video) has taken up my entire afternoon. Badass.

  • "you smoke it, i don't know how"

    gave me the CHILLS! :D

  • "you asked for it Asshole"

    badass line!

  • ELEW

  • aw man that cigarette is the definition of ownage

  • Seriously, was Jelly Roll Morton THIS arrogant? I mean, claiming to be an inventor of jazz would require someone of guts and pride, but could Morton really walk into a bar, call his opponent "an ass", and frown snobbishly whenever he plays?

  • very nice pianist two boys are special great

  • Magnifico!!!!!!!!

  • simply owned :P

  • the movie has a similar title to my user name.. lol

  • Haha 0:31 cabeza shot

  • Lighting a cigarette with piano strings? This calls for... Mythbusters.

  • @rasalgethi999 Hey, I made that same comment a while ago!

  • @SpartanUnDead Sorry 'bout that, I was too lazy to check on previous comments, and Mythbusters came to mind the moment I saw that cigarette lighted.

  • When you know your opponent played one of your original pieces without difficulty on the first try, you know you're fucked.

He then raped you with four hands, and left you with a dirtied suit.

  • 37 people dont have ears

  • !!!THE BEST!!!

  • We just always need to see a chubby character doing what we would do if we weren‘t socially aware of ourselves, don‘t we?

  • The real man the challenger was playing, was not an asshole. He was pretty down to earth and loved knowing others could play jazz at any level. Hollywood always seems to make villens out of people and saints out of monsters.

  • Aw you left out the "fuck jazz too!" part. XD

  • after he had 1 the challenge, 1900 says "fuck jazz"

  • If any person of color walked into a such a room during the early or mid-20th Century and behaved as Jelly Roll Morton was depicted in this film, he would be swinging from a tree like strange fruit before his black fingers had the privledge of touching those white keys. This pair of scenes may be a fantasy, but it is also an insult history and to the memory of Jelly Roll Morton.

  • @odotson Not every nation or person was a racist, but I can agree with you to a modest degree. I also agree that its a shame how they show Jelly in a bad light when he was likely a good person [without searching for some article on him in real life].

  • Acting should not be considered profession; sure it's part of the movie. But hiring actors is determined rather by -- physique looks, voice, AGE, and other non skill factors than how good the person can ACT. That's why you see little kids on TV drama or movie film. Professional? Not really, as long as the person is outgoing , positive, and fluent to the language of the film, anyone can act, even movie director . I'm not putting their effort down just ridiculous to label acting as professional.

  • @KoreanMale12 I disagree with you about acting isn't a profession, I agree anyone can do it to a degree, and I [in an off beat way you did not mention at all] agree that putting down acting for a résumé would be a joke for most jobs.

  • EPICCCCCCCCCCCCCCC !

  • does anybody know the name of the first composition?

  • @abutidzesaba The Crave by Jelly Roll Morton

  • im learning how to play the crave! im fourteen XD

i might be performing it too,

    WISH ME LUCK! =)

  • Wow I love piano

  • FUCK JAZZ! ^_^

  • i didnt know that being a pianist was such a work out

  • "You smoke it.. I don't know how.." I couldn't breat while he played that last part! I was frozen! Completly frozen! O_O

  • Does anyone know the name of the piece he plays to kick that guys ass?

  • @nogameben I think it's called enduring movement by ennio morricone

  • I miss non FSC cigarettes!

  • Jelly roll morton - FingerBuster epic

  • In this movie, if I were Jelly Roll Morton and I heard a man play my piece identically to the way I just played it after only hearing it once, I would congradulate him and just go home. The skill it would take to do that would be equil to that of Mozart. That alone would prove that 1900 was almost unbeatable.

  • @bnizzio sad thing is Jelly Roll wasnt an asshole like this guy is portraying... he was a very friendly man who loved working with other musicians

  • @bnizzio Correct. I mean, if this were real, the audience would be idiots to boo 1900 for copying EXACTLY THE SAME PIECE Morton played.

It takes only a musical giant to do that.

  • @Santosificationable I think that the audience was expecting 1900 to bring in his A-game at the point where he copied Jelly Roll's playing. Actually, for me, the fact he could hear something and replicate it it perfectly was even more impressive than the piece he played to kick Jelly Roll's 'ass'....

Takes something special to do that..... Even if it's just a film, and not real!

  • @TheYorkMan Yes, right.

Hmm...the last piece, isn't exactly doable, isn't it? xD

  • love watching this over and over again!!

  • it's not fair, 1900 has 4 hands

  • @kreion no he does not have 4 hands he has 6.

  • @kreion Ok I just laugh a lot on that one.

  • Wow - I never knew Tim Roth could play the piano like that. I bet it was just him pretending to play, and just a recording or something like that. The other guy too - I don't think he was really playing the piano. This is all fake.

  • @braducsb2 True, that's usually how music movies are; the actor pretends to play, but it's really a musician playing it.

There's no point in criticizing a movie for that, it's how it usually is.

  • @Santosificationable

apparently tim roth took some piano lessons for this movie though...just so he could get the hand positions right. i liked that fact, that is dedication to your work. yes, he's still pretending, but he went through some of the motions.so koodos to him.

  • @Santosificationable Dude - it was a joke!

  • @braducsb2 Look, yes, it's not Tim Roth playing. Why didn't they hire a musician to act for his role instead? I don't know exactly, but why hire a musician when you can get a good actor and make the musician play the soundtrack instead?

Your rants against these dubbings are useless. That's how many movies are. Accept it; you hire a good actor for the protagonist musician, you hire a good musician to play the soundtrack.

    This isn't a showcase of a real musician's talent through a movie.

  • If there were a duel between Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson, it would be something like this.

  • If Art Tatum played against 1900, I bet they'd be equally matched.

  • The last one is not Flight of the Bumblebee and is far harder. Period.

  • 3:05 - "You asked for it Asshole.." ---- WOW- OMG- That was Brilliant!

so many good quotes in these scenes.

His performance is so stunning, so HOT, he lights a fucking cigarette off the strings of his piano.... 5:51 "You smoke it, I don't know how" sticks it in Jelly's mouth. SUCKA!

  • @MrShaun42088 Yes!!! And you forgot "...fuck Jazz too" Brilliant!!

  • I just encountered this movie on Youtube just now...... I LOVE IT

  • 37 people can't hear oceans voice

  • 37 ppl have Tourett's syndrome and we're trying to press "like" actually

  • just so everyone knows it's not possible i would explane but im goning to bed

  • sexy. straight up sexy

  • Enduring movement is going to be my ringtone from now on. I remember watching tihs movie for the first time when I was like 15 years old and thinking how cool and amazing this scene was. I was like that lady, mouth open, except that I have hair.

  • "You asked for it, ass*ole" Fu*k yeah!!!

  • Andy Ricther?

  • his pure soul didn t know the meaning of a duel....but that's what made him a great player..... :)

  • only 36 Jelly Roll Morton fans could have made dislike to this even though he is freaking awsome...

  • Comment removed

  • If he hadn't moved so much on the last peice he wouldn't have been so tired and it might have gone over better. Gotta love hollywood.

  • Comment removed

  • I really like how they portrayed the piano duel.

Firt part played: yeah, you came to duel me, but I don't really care.

Second part: I can play that also.

Third part: Well, fuck you too.

  • whats the song at 1:30? does anyone know?

  • @junghyun292 its called "the crave"

  • Comment removed

  • his fingers have fingers

  • there are 35 stupid pepole that they don't like this masterpiece shame on you!!!!

  • ForzaAquila,

1900 indeed "showed-off" his technical talent more than his musicality, because that's what he sensed Morton showed out of him anyway.

Morton in this video is portrayed to be extremely arrogant, and thinks he's "star" of the show. 1900 wanted to prove him wrong swiftly and quickly...by playing that hard piece.

  • everyone here is talking about how he owned him cuz 1900 played another piece which was so complex and fast..half of the people commenting here have not played a piano in their whole life. yes 1900's final piece was harder, but it seriously had not musicality to it it was just a bashing of keys. i prefered morton's final piece to 1900's because that's music. but then again i may be biased because i love playing jazz/ragtime on the piano.

  • @ForzaAquila It took a while for me to get into the piece, but once I did I really like it now. It's like... Flight of the Bumblebees: Piano Free Style.

I think it's the high key notes along with the repetition of lows that you need to listen for (which is why I only got into it halfway, before I caught onto what I needed to hear it also sounded like notes being pounded on)

  • @YourHorridDaydream so you're saying that if you had to listen to morton's last song or 1900's last song for a whole day you'd prefer 1900's? XD

  • @ForzaAquila Wait, what? I say no such thing..

I didn't particularly care for Morton's last one mostly because of personal preferences... I just didn't like the piece (I felt this even before I heard 1900's).

1900's last piece was like information overload. It made me breathless just trying to keep up with keeping track of the notes! Yet there was something about it those occasional high picthes that pleased my ears.

But IF I had to listen to either song for a whole day... I'd go nuts.
