Over here in Germany it is harder to actually find a dealer. Also as you might know, Germany is the country if you are searching for high quality cars. Actually, the original name of Datsun was Nissan. Nissan of Japan was scared of failing and tainting their name as a car company in America, so they named it Datsun instead.

this gtr is incredible for the money. It beats almost every supercar in the world for very little cash. I saw a used 2009 switzer p800 with 4,000 miles for $88k at a nissan dealer today.

@TheEuroperules The factory is in France, everything else is German. All the engineers were VW engineers, so calling it half German makes little sense. That Renault was a rental car, I don't live in Europe.
But I will say I do not like how Top Gear would not put the Viper ACR on the track while it held the production record at the Nurburgring for so long. I doubt they will be as scared to test it now that they do not think it can beat the Veyron SS's new lap.
@Curveball There's a lot of cars they don't test. Pus, the Viper would not have beaten the Gumpert anyways. The Gumpert laps the ACR quite a bit faster around the Ring. There are not too many ACR's, and I don't know if any made it to Europe. I don't think Dodge would send a car just for Top Gear if that was the case, it wouldn't help sales, especially since the Viper is discontinued.
Just because a car beats the Viper at The Ring doesn't mean it will on a smaller track. The ACR is not good on top speed because of the down force it generates. Top speed on the SRT-10 is like 200-205mph, and the ACR's top speed is 170mph. That gives you an idea how functional it is.
The Viper was discontinued? The name was, not the car. Not that I'm aware of anyway. They are called STR-10's now, not Vipers.
@Curveball The Gumpert produces way more down force then the ACR. The body was designed with only aerodynamics in mind, no style.
Also July 1st, 2010 was the last production day of the Viper, SRT-10, whatever you want to call it. Dodge no longer makes a big V10 sports car. In feburary 2010 the started taking orders for the 'final edition' cars. They made 50. So unless you buy one off the dealer lot, you can no longer buy a Viper.
@Curveball Gumpert claim it can run upside down at 190+mph. Its only a claim, but they found a tunnel to do it in, but they can't find a dumb enough driver lol.
I've seen 2000 - 3300lbs at 190- 200mph. IDK official numbers. It mostly due to the under tray, no other street car is so similar to a race car. I believe the ACR is the highest downforce producing mainstream car.

But look at some of our oldtimers. 500 000 Miles and the Engine is still like after 3 or 4 Years.
There is only one Porsche that can beat the ZR1 on the Nurburgring, the GT2-RS, and it cost over twice as much as the ZR1. That is the point in a Corvette. To give Supercar performance at a fraction of the price. It's a working class hero car, and one you don't have to be a millionaire to own. And the Z06 is almost as good with a 74k base.
German's don't need a motor that big? No, they just need boost. The most powerful naturally Aspirated motor is a Chevy V-8. The 572 with 750hp.

The cost of ownership of a Corvette is about a fifth of the cost of ownership of a Porsche, and the cost of repairs are about a tenth of the price. The point is, the only Porsche that can beat a ZR1 you have to be a millionaire to own. Are you a millionaire? Ok then. If you make 60k-70k a year, then you could own a ZR1. 40k-50k a year you could own a Z06.

Gustav, I think you should also mention the real Problem Nissan has with the GTR =). Engine failures, losing warranty when using it on the track or using launch control. They nerfed the launch control times because they killed their own gearboxes with these sharp timings. So every car has it's downsides =). But most of these "Fanboys" don't want to hear that. The GTR is great value for money, true. It's an awesome car, true, but it isn't the perfect car everyone thinks it is.

There's a reason why the guarantee is going down the drain the the Anti-spinn is removed on the Nissan. And a huge problem with the GT-R is the transmission. It get busted A LOT. It's the asian quality we have. Sure the GT-R is a fast car for a lot LESS money. But you get a NISSAN and not a Porsche no matter the specs. When you buy a Porsche, you buy some great performance AND history, class, a feeling you can't feel in the Nissan. You buy a quality car which can go for MILES after MILES!

U can find some used 09 gtr for around $65k, while brand new 2010 gtr will be around $80k. A lot of high hp kit(including switzer p800) for the gtr usually cost less than $20k, but the spe1000 kit for the gtr may cost more than $30k(including labors).
this is amazing with under 100k (switzer modification inc) you can have a car that is faster than 599,slr .. . ,switzer also have package for 911turbo (p750)which make this car faster than p800gtr .

@Curveball There's a lot of cars they don't test. Pus, the Viper would not have beaten the Gumpert anyways. The Gumpert laps the ACR quite a bit faster around the Ring. There are not too many ACR's, and I don't know if any made it to Europe. I don't think Dodge would send a car just for Top Gear if that was the case, it wouldn't help sales, especially since the Viper is discontinued.

Just because a car beats the Viper at The Ring doesn't mean it will on a smaller track. The ACR is not good on top speed because of the down force it generates. Top speed on the SRT-10 is like 200-205mph, and the ACR's top speed is 170mph. That gives you an idea how functional it is.
The Viper was discontinued? The name was, not the car. Not that I'm aware of anyway. They are called STR-10's now, not Vipers.

@Curveball The Gumpert produces way more down force then the ACR. The body was designed with only aerodynamics in mind, no style.
Also July 1st, 2010 was the last production day of the Viper, SRT-10, whatever you want to call it. Dodge no longer makes a big V10 sports car. In feburary 2010 the started taking orders for the 'final edition' cars. They made 50. So unless you buy one off the dealer lot, you can no longer buy a Viper.

@Curveball Gumpert claim it can run upside down at 190+mph. Its only a claim, but they found a tunnel to do it in, but they can't find a dumb enough driver lol.
I've seen 2000 - 3300lbs at 190- 200mph. IDK official numbers. It mostly due to the under tray, no other street car is so similar to a race car. I believe the ACR is the highest downforce producing mainstream car.
Production was put on hold due to money problems, the 5th gen Viper 'should' come out in a few years, I hope it does.

@SuperleggeraVW the acr hasn t got the highest deportance at all among sportscars (and in this case we r speakin about a car with race tyres..), it is just a powered-up viper with race tyres, the difference with another real fast car using this kind of tyres on nurburgring is huge,i m referrin to the 599 gto for example..anyway 450kg at 240km/h is the most relation deportance/speed the acr can have, while enzo got 700kg at 300km/h, decreasing to 500 at 350 to help reachin a higher top speed

Unlike in a Corvette Plastic isn't used a lot in our German cars. This is why our cars cost a lot. We use expensive materials. And are sometimes a bit cocky on the price tag i have to admit. But look at some of our oldtimers. 500 000 Miles and the Engine is still like after 3 or 4 Years.

There is only one Porsche that can beat the ZR1 on the Nurburgring, the GT2-RS, and it cost over twice as much as the ZR1. That is the point in a Corvette. To give Supercar performance at a fraction of the price. It's a working class hero car, and one you don't have to be a millionaire to own. And the Z06 is almost as good with a 74k base.
German's don't need a motor that big? No, they just need boost. The most powerful naturally Aspirated motor is a Chevy V-8. The 572 with 750hp.

Seriously? The GT2-RS gets 22 mpg. The 2012 ZR1 gets 23mpg. The Z06 gets 24mpg. The cost of ownership of a Corvette is about a fifth of the cost of ownership of a Porsche, and the cost of repairs are about a tenth of the price. The point is, the only Porsche that can beat a ZR1 you have to be a millionaire to own. Are you a millionaire? Ok then. If you make 60k-70k a year, then you could own a ZR1. 40k-50k a year you could own a Z06.

Gustav, I think you should also mention the real Problem Nissan has with the GTR =). Engine failures, losing warranty when using it on the track or using launch control. They nerfed the launch control times because they killed their own gearboxes with these sharp timings. So every car has it's downsides =). But most of these "Fanboys" don't want to hear that. The GTR is great value for money, true. It's an awesome car, true, but it isn't the perfect car everyone thinks it is.

There's a reason why the guarantee is going down the drain the the Anti-spinn is removed on the Nissan. And a huge problem with the GT-R is the transmission. It get busted A LOT. It's the asian quality we have. Sure the GT-R is a fast car for a lot LESS money. But you get a NISSAN and not a Porsche no matter the specs. When you buy a Porsche, you buy some great performance AND history, class, a feeling you can't feel in the Nissan. You buy a quality car which can go for MILES after MILES!

U can find some used 09 gtr for around $65k, while brand new 2010 gtr will be around $80k. A lot of high hp kit(including switzer p800) for the gtr usually cost less than $20k, but the spe1000 kit for the gtr may cost more than $30k(including labors).
