3:32 Is that City Hall building still there? I remember lots of people got married there in civil ceremony. People who did not want to get married in a church, got married in that City Hall Building. I lived in So Uk Estate since I was a child, I love that place, there were trees everywhere.
Most people abroad dont really care.. I live in London and I dont really care whether people from abroad appreciate I come from the United Kingdom and live in england. Get over it mate....
hi, i also lived so uk, when i was born. it's so heart movie. i also want to come back to video & photo. but all blocks needs key in pw. i lived in Peony Hse (16/F) 29yrs ago.
@keisre889 : 麥理浩 must be a good man. I lived in So Uk for many years. When I was a small child, I saw people lived in wooden hut in the hill behind the No.2 Bus Terminal. They had not tap water or any facilities. I think they eventually moved to government subsidized apartments similar to So Uk. No broken huts in the hill there later on. 麥理浩 is a good 港督.
This is just great. The place is everything to us especially me as I spent half of my years living in it and thereafter overlooking it as my dad and mom are still living there. Sadly, it's going to be demolished 2011and with this luck, I can recap these great old memories for my big family. Thks.
Thank you for this upload. I lived there since I was 4 years old. Lots of memory. So Uk Estate does not relate to United Kingdom. In Chinese, the word house pronounced as "uk". All the names of the building named after a flower. I love that place.
So Uk is a Chinese name, nothing at all to do with UK. This was one of the first public housing projects started after the influx of refugees after 1950. No where did so public housing so fast as HK. Something to be proud of. Also at So Uk they found an almost complete Han dynasty tomb, from nearly 2000 years ago, still preserved, open to public. Love the shots of lai cha and daan tat. Ethnic soul food !
Dear Mr. yuzufilm, thank you for your visit. At 4:17, the disappearance of Boundary Stone of the City of Victoria erected by the Government in 1903 (the 7th stone) 維多利亞城第七號界石 on Magazine Gap Road located outside of Magazine Heights. Half of the Stone was found embedded in a retaining wall under private lot and was missing in 2007. The government just shirked their responsibility and no further action or investigation has been taken.

Excellent video, particularly shots from the past: Princess Margaret, So Uk North School, the Globe on the playground near Lily House.
Thank you for sharing
