This is going on my Top 3 Transformer-wish list, after ROTF Mindwipe and RID Optimus Prime

Mindwipe cause he is a B2 and I already have Skystalker so I could make Mindstalker and RID Optimus cause he's the coolest figure from the coolest transformers show I watched during childhood (ah, nostalgia)

You mistransformed him. The hood piece folds up BEFORE you collapse/slide the legs in.

I have all three. Don't really like them. Got them in a lot with RID Landfill so I have them. Must say though, Prowl is the best looking one.  X-Braun is super clunky.

You mistransformed him Peaugh You can fold the hood in alot further if you push it in before pushing the legs up.

I still have all my RID toys from when they hit the States, and watching these reviews reminds me how far engineering on these toys have come. RID was kind of a sore spot for me due to the ridiculous complicated transformations (for many of the figures, at least), with the amount of kibble you were left to sort through.

one note is that X-Brawn's rear wheels can fold in to be parallel with the front of his legs

The RID Autobot Bros. has a quite shelformer-like transformation (except X-Brawn where most of the carmode is intergrated to his left arm and weapons) and requires an orderly step to do so.

These case also occurs to ROTF twins though they only has a blocky backpack.

you transformered him wrong, the front folds up before you push the legs up, that way it stays neater and flush

The backpack folds up tighter if the series of panels connecting to the front of the car is folded up before the waistpeice is pushed upwards, there is a space for the hinge built in to his torso.

The hood can actually lay flatter on the back. Before pushing the legs up, you collapse the hinge and insert that into the square hole in his chest. That also allows for the windshield to lay flatter as well. I don't know if you just forgot that or just did not know. Just a friendly reminder either way.
