I heard it's gonna be 2012 when its closed, because they made a contract for liscensing garfield for the ride or something and the contract finally ended this year, so im hoping theyll change it by next year... i also heard the new theme will be like an old steel mill to bring back the original old mill name....

Although I'll be the first to admit that the old mill was never so scary, I always loved it--replacing it with the garfield thing was just a horrible choice. I used to work at kennywood in the mid-nineties, including a stint painting in the off season and got a chance to walk through the ride with the water drained into the middle room-- so cool how this old school ride works. I hope you're right and we get a restored old mill back! p.s.my gram used to tell us there were snakes in the water lol

The rid looks like it could be way better. I like the idea of them using the comic strips in the ride, but I don't really like how it's all insane. I think Garfield would defiantly have a nightmare about all this, except theres a number of things that could be way better. It also looks like if you watch the ride online, it'll be way better than actually riding it.

This ride is terrible and an insult to the classic Old Mill. Why do they feel the need to mess up these classic rides? They screwed up the Old Mill with this Garfield garbage, they took out the Gold Rusher for that dumb Ghostwood Estate, they took out Le Charot, the new version of the Phantom sucks, and they took out the Magic Carpet. I love Kennywood but why can't they leave these rides alone, what's next, take out the Jack Rabbit and/or the Thunderbolt?

Kennywoodjoe, have you heard any rumors that they are replacing this for 2010? I hope so!  This ride is absolutely terrible! My boat got stuck three times during the ride. Water built up behind the boat, then finally plunged it forward.

Thanks, Kennywoodjoe, I really wondered. I loved the Old Mill. Maybe they will change it back after a while? Your name wood imply that you love Kenneywood. We live out of state now and don't get back there often, but it is my favorite park of all. It's just the perfect size and has many great rides for such a small place. Wish they'd kept Noah's Ark the same, too.
