  • Hi I love your Helicycle. I am interested in buying one also, can you please guide me ion how to obtain a machine, cots toi build etc

    Many Thanx

    Costa

  • y don't any company launch it in India. I sure I ll buy one if it's in under 1,50,000 INR (3000$) ;)

  • Those blades look pretty light on inertia wise, have you auto rotated this yet?

  • it is this type of turbine that generates horsepower, can cost as an equal

  • @MOYCAN1 it is this type of comment that generates confusion, can head with your mess

  • cool

  • I really NEED one of these.

  • Also, you must consider that some of us are just plain bored and need some really fun toys to play with. It has nothing to do with maintenance intervals or fuel burn or overhauls or time building... just sheer fuel burnin fun.

  • do we need a license here in oz for one of these ?

  • I want one of them for my first cars

  • 35k, is cheap for a ride like this. he'll a R-22 would set you back 250k for one extra seat. He'll throw some doors on it for a little extra sound Cushing and your set. only thing left to figure out is were can I land this thing.

Oh, you might try learning to fly helo's first, before you run out and buy one.

  • That thing is sweeeeet! Sounds awesome!

  • extra design

  • when and where is this available for sale and how much.

  • Is the welding needed to this kit?

    What is a necessary tool?

  • how much 1 unit ?

  • Killing my ears

  • Very well... but remember the mosquito xe

  • awesome device

  • Sad to say that Herman was killed in an accident while flying two weeks ago. Aug 2009.

    RIP

  • I looked up VH ZHR which appears to be this aircrafts registration and couldnt find anything??

  • H e has an accident in a Angel Experimental Helicopter, not the HeliCycle shown in the video.

  • Reminds me of my mosquito xe.

  • i always wondered could you fly an ultra light and land/take off from anywhere like lets say a driveway? i read somewhere that you don't need a license if its under X amount of pounds in weight.

  • HOW much does these cost ?

  • ~45K USD

  • oooh i can buy 1 :)

  • hey if anyone knows the price for a regular mosquito because i'd like to know...if it is a mosquito

  • yeah the oridgional is about 30,000 bucks give or take

  • mosquito full assembled runs for 33,500

  • the daily running cost might be low but come overhaul time i'd imagine it to cost a fortune.. i can understand the cool factor of having a turbine powered helicopter, if i were rich i would have a turbine powered everything, but at 50L an hour with jet fuel at anywhere from 1-2USD per L, that's pretty pricey. i guess if you were using it to build up turbine helo time it would definitely be worth it if a cushy turbine job were to be the payoff.

  • i'm just curious what's the point of a turbine helicopter if it is only single seat and not designed to carry a load?

does this time count towards turbine flying time on a license? i'm guessing no since it's an ultralight and single seat. just seems like a waste to me considering the expense of fuel and maintenance of the engine compared to a conventional engine which at this size would cost only a few dollars an hour to run.

  • Hours would count as turbine time because it was VH registered experimental. Very low maintenance cost on a turbine. (few moving parts) Fuel rate is high 50 l/hr!

the Point ??????? if you have to ask then you just dont get it.......

think about the fun/the challenge/the sound/high power to weight etc etc

  • is there a clutch or a viscous-coupling that connects the engine to the main rotor??

  • marek0086 i could be wrong in this case since i know nothing about helicycles other than they look like fun! it appears to be what's refered to as "gas coupled" meaning the compressor section of the engine is driven off one turbine and power is extracted off another. at least that's how most of them work. i know of a few turbo-prop fixed wings that are direct-drive but i don't know of any clutch-coupled turbine helicopters. gas coupled is the k.i.s.s. way and that's probably what this is. cheers

  • @itsumonihon The reliability of a turbine compared to a reciprocal engine is much better so safety is the biggest advantage, a turbine also requires far less maintenance.

  • @raoul33duke

Turbine reliability is a myth. Tim Tucker (robinson test pilot) did a great write up about this topic. In the end, both engines ended up having a similar failure rate. The advantage of the turbine is high power to weight ratio. That and they are plain badass.....

  • @itsumonihon Flight.

  • @itsumonihon

Except from what mechfx said, you get a stunning better power to weight radio, which is quit crucial for air vehicles... Piston engines are heavy....

  • @itsumonihon the same point of having a hobby.....(fun)......

  • how much $??

  • its around $40 grand

  • what engine is it? cool heli

  • is this the same heli cycle that apparently had the main blades strike the ground while doing blade tracking?

  • Yep, No longer flying, It was a nice chopper

  • man i have got to steel myself one of these.bout the only way i could afford one.lol

  • You could always enter an English competition with a large grand prize... no wait you are a literary tard.

Steal is to take, steel is Iron with a low carbon content.

  • m1leswilliams,you are a mechanical tard. carbon is the main alloying constituent in steel the higher the carbon content the harder the steel. steel is not iron with a low carbon content.

  • You are right about one thing wrong about another. Steel is Iron with carbon I stand corrected, but knowing that is Chemistry not Mechanical, I may be a chemical tard but not Mechanical.

  • keep up the good work,i have 2 of these machines theyre good fun

  • how did you go about getting it registered, and your type endorsement? Insurance?

  • How far can it travel?

  • wow its so cool it looks like a 3d rc helicopter, they must invent some heli like this that can fly inverted :D

  • VH Registered?

  • cool, i like gas turbines, nice litle chopper

  • a little wind and you are dead! But it's cool^^
