I respect the teachings of jesus as written in the bible for the most part, on a philosophical level but I don't believe parts of the old testament that are disproven by scientific method.

I think people should abandon the old religious misconceptions about science and history and strive to understand the universe through scientific method.

Look at Romans chapter 13, verse 10. It says that Love is the law's fulfillment.

I know the Bible very well. I have read it extensively. The OT laws were fulfilled unjer Jesus, and now it isn't necessary to keep them because we are now under God's undeserved grace.

Galatians chapter 2, verse 21 says that if keeping the law of the OT lead to our salvation, then Christ died for nothing. -- So the OT law is no longer necessary.

Actually, the New Testament says point blank that ther reason for the new testament was to make the old testament "obsolete." (See Hebrews 8, verse 18)

Also, Jesus himself said that those older laws were written ONLY because our hearts were hard, and not because God wanted them. (See Mark 10, verse 5)

In other words, the harsh laws in the OT were not God's original intention.
