This is a great example of a pilot that feels entitled...as if he has a right to be where he is and have such a negative attitude. The better example comes from his RIO or co-pilot - whomever was flying with him. He's Cool, Calm, Collected...and if you notice...the calm guy is the one that called the passing traffic. The angry guy has poor CRM, poor SA, and poor ADM skills.

You should still be watching for traffic.. at all times the pilot is responsible for traffic separation and ground.. so dont yell at the guy who has one of the most stressfull jobs in the world. because your to lazy to look over your shoulder!

coming from an air traffic controller the controller had to have been new or somthing cuz that was horrible, and he is lucky he didnt get a HATR filed on him...if you listen at the end of the video he had to send around the navy planes cuz the f-4's on the runway.

34 yrs as a military controller, 22 yrs active duty, the rest as a contractor. Sh&* happens sometimes but this one...  controller screwed up BAD!!! I've watched this at least 2 dozen times and I crack up! Dude, pay attention!

VFR your right, it looked to be a clear day with unrestricted visual. Humm? This is what can happen when you have aircraft doing radar approaches and some not. The ATC did a good job and so did the pilots. And we all know what happens, how good things can go bad quick, fast and in a hurry. I will say good thing a microphone was not stuck.

I agree he should have gotten a traffic call on that guy, but he's in a VFR pattern. See and avoid.

There's a reason he didn't fill out the HATR (Hazardous Air Traffic Report).. it's because he knew it wouldn't go anywhere.

Partly. Although the AIM tells us that pilots are responsible for VFR see-and-avoid, FAA order 7110.65 (the controller's reg manual) states that a class D tower is responsible for separation of all aircraft on final. Additionally , if this was class C, ATC is responsible to provide separation services throughout the airspace. Military towers & pilots must proscribe to the same regs (may not violate civilian regs).

How long ago and where was this?The Air Force was the last branch to fly F-4s in the reserves and they were all retired in 1996 with the exception of the ones flown occassionally out of the boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB,AZ.I use to be stationed there when I was active duty.

Pilots with Terrets are so funny, LOL. I had this happen to me once already and I only have 35hrs. I was cleared to land #2 behind the traffic but there was no traffic in front off me, the traffic was 100ft off of my left wing tip!! on final side by side. I guess you would call that ATC assisted formation flying!!
