1-3 hours of ride time depending on how you ride. 2.5 hours to charge. How do you charge it when you are out in the bush? I know bring a generator and spend more gas charging it then you would have if you just brought along a proper bike.

@JcXtreme72 Obviously this thing is not meant to replace dirt bikes in the outback. A lot of riders live in cities and a nearly silent and zero emission mx bike may be the difference between riding indoors or in the suburbs compared to driving another hour to somewhere far away from normal people.

The problem with electric is that NOBODY ever puts transmission related components in them,

thats because its almost unnecessary! the nature of electric (full torque at almost 0 RPM) makes using a transmission redundant. there are a few designs though, where a transmission could be helpful! and if you see the other videos here on youtube, you can clearly see a secondary drive system, from belt drive to chains and there is 'some' gear reduction occurring ( almost a transmission) . check out the all electric KTM! nice!

@mellifluouschinook but if it has full torque at all rpms then they could have a transmission because the motor could shur surely pull it, so the motor doesn't have to spin so fast at high speeds, aka: less battery useage and less wear.

@1Watwilje silent mx opens up new possibilites, mountain & trail riding, extreme sports, indoor etc. The macho types with something to prove always want to leave noise and smoke in the air, thats fine if you've got an mx park with a long future. Sadly the world has become a more noisier and stressfull place, general public are slowly becoming anti-bike and will discriminate against noisy hobbys. I admit EC bikes don't *look* right, but it should be about the rider having fun, not how they look

Two major downsides to these still: Runtime, and price. Harder riding can cut the run time to as short as 30 mins according to the official web site. At $10k US they are just too expensive for what they offer. I would rent one to mess around on but buying one would not be an option.

I build electric cars and I don't go around with my head up my ass thinking they don't leave an enviromental footprint. Electricity doesn't come for free and tell me what are you going to do with the batteries later on? What about the plasic bodywork, the neoprene and foam in the seat - what are they made from Super Eco Hero? If nobody starts driving these, there's no reason to change electricity producing means. Moreover, don't forget that explosion engines have a fucking awful efficiency that hardly reaches 25%. Even if a part of the electricity you cas use to reload your bike is produced by burning coal or gas, the efficency of this process is much more important, as it directly uses heat. Explosion engines are no future, you don't want them to heat, but that's what the explosion mostly produces.

the voltage is very low and the wires are very insalated, so even if it does get wet or soaked as long as you dont submerg it its fine. and a nother thing, i live where theres no woodlands mostly urban and new development so the only reason i would get this bike is because its silent. iv got the cops called on me too many times mainly because they can here me comeing miles away, i have an atv it would be cool to see an electric one, even cooler if i could ride a bike with no noise

This is my second year on two different electocross bikes, in US. I have plenty of moto and mountain bike experience...took that to the electrocross and I have never had a better experience. Ripping through mountain bike trails at night with dual beams is the very best, no-ones on the trail, you and your bro hauling ass through the woods on perfectly quiet machines...it is the best!
