Indeed I did - it was very frustrating... I think I addressed them by encoding the vid differently in my follow up vid, "girls, geeks and drifting techniques"

It appears that WMV works a lot better for YouTube HD than AVC... If you know anything about this issue, I'd appreciate any suggestions ;)

Check out his cost of living vid in particular, it is spot on. As for the language, it's not hard to speak, it just comes down to if you can handle learning how to speak all over again. Most people who come here get by, so if you want to come, go for it :)

Woah! Hiko this vid hit the spot for me since i am a auto enthusiast myself. I have been to the tokyo auto salon before and it is not open to the public. Were you there working? Are you in the auto industry?

Sorry for the late reply - I think that the first day of the Auto Salon is for businesses (on Friday) but the Saturday and Sunday were fully open to the public for 2000 Yen admission. I'm not in the auto industry and had never been before, but I think I'll be back next year!

Haha, yes, it was very dangerous,and the commentator on the loudspeakers was shouting at the guy too! Fortunately, the guy was okay, and as dangerous as it looks, the drivers are amazingly skillfull. Glad you liked the vid!

i have a silvia at home in the states...but its the american version 240sx..with a front end silvia conversion..excellent for drifting with the rear wheel drive and multi link suspension..very well balanced car

Wow, dude, sounds serious. On a personal level, I actually prefer the 180SX (which I am presuming is the Japan version of the 240SX in the States - it was the 200SX in NZ), but getting the front end conversion to get it authentic shows a guy who is serious about his cars. Respect dude!

haha those Mercedes were out of control. I love the new skylines though. I saw one in Tokyo flanked by two Mercedes S550's while walking past a massage parlor and my friend who lives their said it was a yakuza guys car...so I didnt touch it : )

The GTRs are total beasts. Closest I've driven was a GTS-t once, and even that felt like you were being catapulted.

Haha, well, I guess it comes down to taste, you can tell with some of the old or more run of the mill cars that are done up that a lot of love (and cash) has gone into them. That music is a part of life in Japan. I worked at a gift shop in NZ and we used it when we wanted customers to leave, so I think of it as the "Get The F*#$ Outta Here" music :)
