How can dogs go to "heaven or hell" of what we see is "right and wrong" if we are the ones that made up that notion? A dogs right and wrong is not ours so how can they go to heaven? Animals are not aware of the things we make up.

When you say hellenic, you are referring to the early greek civilization, correct? Nero314 is referring to the period of time after Alexander's death (323 BC is it?) during which Greek culture was spreading across the world. You're both correctly using the terms I believe, but referring to different definitions. But where is your evidence for 30,000 years old. There is no known recorded history that far back. The period called ancient Greece is < 1000 years BC, isn't it?

@Streichwurstable That really depends on your definition of a soul. I would say it is your consciousness, your memories, your personality, anything you are. Thus, people are not born with souls, but animals that are intelligent enough to be aware of their surroundings do have souls. But most importantly, sorry, your soul cannot survive your death. It is in your brain, so when your brain dies, you are gone forever. Sure, i would like an afterlife too, but just because i wish it, it wont be true.

Suppose the President were to propose that every homeless person be taken off the streets by the police, and kept in a hotel for 30 days. If, after those 30 days, a person could not find a home or someone to take him in, he would be killed. Would this be moral?
This happens every day in this country with dogs.
This video claims that people have nothing to make them special, so we are left with:
1. We're committing genocide now
2. The plan would be moral

The point is that if we accept the "reasoning" of this video, there is no significant difference between dogs and humans. You can replace the word "soul" in the rant for any difference you try to come up with to explain why we shouldn't euthanize homeless people as we do homeless dogs.
I doubt many would suggest that euthanizing homeless people is in any way acceptable, so think it through.

Without a moral code from an intelligent designer, our moral system would have developed as a way of survival. So although in theory there may be little difference between killing a person or an animal, there is also no strict rule against this and we have to use our own personal judgement..
It is contradictory, but mankind is imperfect. And I think the fact this is so imperfect is one of the points of the video.

What I mean by this is that without a designer, our morals have evolved as a way of keeping humanity alive. Clearly the euthanization of homeless people is not in the best interest of humanity. This is the difference between dogs and humans, not the possession of a soul, and it is still our judgement and not a distinction made by a higher power.

Thinking this video through to its logical conclusion takes us to a place most people, even atheists, don't accept as true.
