A better comparison would be the turbo or turbo s...which are both well into the 10's for a quarter mile and into the 2's to 60, so I'm not so sure you'd like the outcome, especially if it's a launch from rest (which Porsches can do over and over compared to a GTR which...I don't want to say can't, but....)

@ktosi11 I quite feel you :) But what does stock mean to you? As far as I know, it's a factory standard car with absolutely no mods whatsoever. GT2, GT2 RS, GT3, GT3 RS, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4S, etc are all 997 trim levels with varying degrees of performance and standard equipment installed. This could be quite confusing since there's been so much disagreement out there which is stock and which is not, just as much of a disagreement as to what defines a production car.

Not true, our 2000 Nissan Quest's interior is flawless, along with our 2003 Frontier. I think that GTR is a good car, but they have come out with this car like they are all alone in the motor industry saying that their car is capable of beat anything, and cheating like they did on the Nurburgring lap record. I completely agree with both your opinion and Porsche is a brand that requires and deserves RESPECT, specially if you take in count that 75% of all Porsches manufactured are still in the roads.
Actually no they did not cheat, they proved that by doing the lap again in front of porsche representitves and the press to show that they did it with stock components.
Porsche creates amazing cars thanks to 40 years of constant racing experience, but for a brand (that is finally free from 280 HP restriction from the government) to create something like this straight away(5 years), it deserves respect as well.

As far as I know that's a record from 2008 and I'm not aware of any new Attempt to honestly break the records set by other car manufacturers in presence of Porsche and the press.

Exotisk för oss, i Japan är Porsche exotisk....

It wouldn't matter much. People forget that the GTR is only fast up to about 80-90 MPH then it's acceleration sucks. 460 HP and 3,900 lbs? The Porsche in this vid has a better power to weight ratio! All the electronics, sticky tire,s and AWD in the world can't make up for a heavy underpowered car.

The Nissan GTR Nürburgring lap time was on race tires and the car used race fuel. Nissan even admitted it on TV. It also had the back seats removed to decrease the weight.

@ktosi11 I quite feel you :) But what does stock mean to you? As far as I know, it's a factory standard car with absolutely no mods whatsoever. GT2, GT2 RS, GT3, GT3 RS, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4S, etc are all 997 trim levels with varying degrees of performance and standard equipment installed. This could be quite confusing since there's been so much disagreement out there which is stock and which is not, just as much of a disagreement as to what defines a production car.

Has anyone watched Drivers Republic GT2 vs GTR comparison around the Nürburgring, with1 neutral driver (not Suzuki or Rohl), The result was - 7.49 porsche gt2 and 7.55 nissan gtr.
So, i think that Nissan gtr is very impressive car but it isn't Porsche killer. Even in this drag race.

Not true, our 2000 Nissan Quest's interior is flawless, along with our 2003 Frontier. On the other hand my 2002 z06 interior has numerous cuts, though poor seat design(sharp metal sticks out when i sit in) and the dashboard as crack a little from heat, same with my 1997 Camaro. I will not buy another American car again, unless it is the ACR or Zr1 of course.

yeah, the GT2 wins on a rolling start. 50 more hps and 300lbs lighter. But it also costs 70k more. Let's put 70k mods in a gtr and lets see how the GT2 stands a modded GTR. Let me take on that GT2, with the 10k mods I did to my GTR, I should be able to kill that GT2.

That's why we buy German cars. They don't need to be modified. Unlike Japanese cars can only keep up with the German ones if they are tuned. And most of the times, even so, they are still crap compared to German cars. ;)

I think that GTR is a good car, but they have come out with this car like they are all alone in the motor industry saying that their car is capable of beat anything, and cheating like they did on the Nurburgring lap record. I completely agree with both your opinion and Porsche is a brand that requires and deserves RESPECT, specially if you take in count that 75% of all Porsches manufactured are still in the roads.

Actually no they did not cheat, they proved that by doing the lap again in front of porsche representitves and the press to show that they did it with stock components.
Porsche creates amazing cars thanks to 40 years of constant racing experience, but for a brand (that is finally free from 280 HP restriction from the government) to create something like this straight away(5 years), it deserves respect as well.

I've never said that they do not require what they do not show for others! May I ask when that new lap that you refer to took place? As far as I know that's a record from 2008 and I'm not aware of any new Attempt to honestly break the records set by other car manufacturers in presence of Porsche and the press.

just google Nissan GTR 7:27 then you'll find that they did it again in April 2009. I even read a report about it in the magazine about their witness of the lap. And their interview with porsche about their accusation against Nissan. They only said that, there might be a little difference in the US spec. Then haters go "yeah Nissan cheated" No they did not!

men Nissan kan inte lura fysiken, Gtr är tyngre, större och med mindre effekt, har inget med märke eller pengar att göra. Nissan är snabb och hänger med det mesta på bana, men rakt fram är det bara fysik, i början vikt/effekt sen luftmotstånd/effekt. Vad Nissan skapat för bild är ju helt oväsentligt. Exotisk för oss, i Japan är Porsche exotisk....
