I love how easy it is to tell when Roger starts talking....
And I could Love Syd's voice, and how He just randomly starts explaining everything abou The Lights and The Visuals. I could listen to Him talk about Paints all Day....
Incredible news. The BFI has only unearthed some of those thought to be wiped and lost forever TOTP episodes from 1967, and yes one has Syd's PF on TOTP performing (lip-synch) See Emily Play. They are showing these at the South Bank in Jan. 2010 so hopefully they might get booted and this piece of treasure will be up on the internet soon.
"Replace The Beatles"? The Beatles themselves embraced the sound. There's a video of Paul McCartney talking at UFO after Pink Floyd finished performing.
"Sgt. Pepper..." perhaps wasn't out yet at the time of this interview, but the interviewer obviously hadn't listened to "Tomorrow Never Knows" and the rāga song "Love You To".
Hi, Paul McCartney wasn't talking at the UFO club. That was from a TV interview in probably a BBC studio. That UFO with Syd and the Floyd was filmed separate and has been spliced and edited together with happenings with Hoppie at Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. It is a documentary. McCartney would of met Pink Floyd at Abbey Road in May 1967 but probably not at the UFO Club. My cousin use to go there and Middle Earth. That piece you refer to is definitely Syd at the UFO with PF.
Pink Floyd is Syd, Roger, Rick & Nick. They should have changed there name after Syd was ousted. Pink Floyd died after syd was booted, & yes, they were destined to replace The Beatles.
I disagree. Syd was influential to the band LONG after he didn't play with them anymore. Albums like Darkside of the Moon, Wish you were here all feature heavy references to Syd and were, to a large degree inspired by the events of his departure.
Errm, no shit captian ovbious. I was merely stating that they should have changed their name after Syd was ousted. Im well aware of his influence on their lyrics. I was talking about their musical sound after Syd. Pink Floyd was Syd's sound, their sound was way different after that.
DragonTheArtist is correct, when such an important member and genius leaves the band the least thing u could do is change the band name. You cant compare; "piper at the gates of dawn" with any other album they release after.

I love how everyone in the '60s called them "THE Pink Floyd". There couldn't be a band name with "the" in it.

Hey, thank you for keeping me informed! I knew that the video was spliced, but I assumed that it jumped to a point after Pink Floyd's performance.

@minutegongcoughs There is a video here on youtube of Lennon, George and Yoko at one of the UFO shows.

@minutegongcoughs Ok, found it, I made a mistake, it's not the UFO club, but the famous 14 Hour Technicolor Dream at the Alexander Palace.
Search for Syd Barrett - Pink Floyd - Let's All Make Love In London pt2, it starts at about 8:23
Lennon is in part 3: Syd Barrett - Pink Floyd - Let's All Make Love In London pt3
