  • I don't mean this in a gross way but I hope this wasn't pg 13 I wish that they talked about "adult" stuff cause isn't it technically when the kids are asleep hence not here to hear the naughty stuff

  • I like when they get a little inappropriate. . . I mean this podcast is called "When They Kids Go To Sleep", isn't it specifically for adults... Just my opinion..

  • SHAY! You are wearing the same yellow shirt in like 5 podcast. Not that I care.. Just think its funny :) lucky yellow podcasting shirt!

  • Get Married Quick Shay is promoting super insperational

  • I am 14 and like I said only want a credit card for a house and maybe a car but a debit card or paper bill is my ideal money source

  • hey this is very good financial advice, could you continue talking about this stuff?

  • I have seen EVERY vlog you have made

  • hey, im from germany and 18 yrs old,

1st do people in America and especially in the US usually buy things with their creditcards ? because in germany you just dont do it, some do but not the majority.

2nd shaycarl you got sliced down to the half by a chainsaw i think... :D

    sry for bad english :X

  • @eckemanable yes, a lot of people buy things with credit cards. especially around Christmas. i don't understand why people just don't save their money encase of an emergency or unforeseen event. it just seems like it is not talked about that much and children don't learn how to save. it is just irresponsible but it seems really common. and the whole credit score thing and thinking you have to borrow money is never questioned. people just want to believe the bank is safe and good

  • I LOVE Colette's shirt. I wonder where she got it

  • I checked my credit score a few months ago and it was really good. I'm 20, 2nd year in college, and no bills in my name...ever. I pay my parents for my car and cell. I found out later that I have good credit because I have student loans, and I don't have to pay them back until I graduate. I have one credit card, but it's locked up in a lock box. They told me it will build credit, but I won't have to pay anything if I don't use it. My parents live on Dave Ramsey, so I hear the same story 24/7. :)

  • This podcast really gave me the push I needed to get TMMO going. I logged onto my bank account, did a little budgeting and found out that if I didn't withdraw any money from my checking account, I could PAY OFF my CC with the lowest balance! And then next month, if I did the same, I could pay off my next CC with the lowest balance because I could add the minimum payment I was making on January's CC pay off. SNOWBALLIN' IT BABY! This podcast give me strength and I listen to it everyday!

  • I have notice that u guys wear the same cloths for every 2 videos of WTKGTS thumbs up if u notice too!

  • @GavinMyra Shay has a different shirt.

  • Good advice

  • Shay and Colette you are a inspiration and have changed the way I am going to look at money in 2012

  • I have her necklace!!!! :D

  • As I was listening to this I have $304 in my checking account. I'm 18 with no expenses still in high school. I put $100 into my savings because I felt good to save it. I don't need $300 at my fingertips. My savings account is worth $2,100 and I am so happy. Thanks!

  • I listen to the podcast rather than watch the videos, but I wanted to leave a comment. I'm really hoping I can take your advice - especially after watching my parents with their bills and debt.

But what on earth do you do when you're too mentally ill to work. I'm determined to one day push my art work to be able to support myself. Until then I'm living with parents unable to pay my way (I do the cleaning to try 'pay' my way).

Listening to you guys really helps me keep going, thanks guys <3

  • @GavinMyra if you look back over the videos majority are done like this. they film 2 in one day and put them on youtube on different days.

  • @glimmerrush96 shut up and don't be so mean! sry that I'm saying something about me... and yes I'm proud of myself and i wasn't bragging i was just saying okay? so leave me alone and take care of your life!

  • My name is Mandy, according to my memory... you owe me £1000.

  • So you were talking about how your going to get your kids only like 2 or 3 things so is that why they got 20 gifts each face it you can not stop giving your kids stuff

  • Wedding story pleaaaase.

  • @tfmuggleblood with vids and pictures!!!

  • I have one credit card on which I purchase a $20 item every month and then I pay it back before the grace period ends. BOOM! Building credit, no interest paid.

  • I agree guys. Lucky my mom and dad don't have credit cards :) and hopefully I wouldn't wanna get a credit card in 2 years time :3

  • Tell us the story of your wedding!!! That would be so fun:)

  • Have $200 000 000 in the bank and poof, good credit score.

  • Why not just buy one thing on credit, and then pay it back and after that you can buy another thing on credit...? I'm 15 and so don't completely understand how the system works yet but it seems that would be a good way to build up your credit score and get the thing's you wan't without worrying about Debt

  • Shay, lenders aren't doing manual underwriting anymore. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac or investors on Wall St certainly not buying that. Only a lender willing to hold the loan in their portfolio may be willing to manually underwrite, but then the price adjustment on the interest rate would be really expensive to the borrower. All casue someone doesn't have credit. It not hard to build credit and avoid interest. Pay off what you borrower at the end of the month. There are perfect borrowers out there.

  • Yes please do a class! I guess the first assignment is for everyone to get a savings account and put money in it? I'm 16, but I still make money by babysitting, I'm going to get a savings account & put money in it.

  • If you were to choose 1 of his books to suggest to someone who is just starting to get out of debt, which would it be? please thumbs up guys need an answer

  • 1. Get a $500 credit card (hopefully with a grocery store or some other establishment that gives you money back)

    2. Use the card to pay for groceries

    3. Pay your bills in full each month

3b. Do not carry a balance

Simple as that. I don't know why Patricia thinks she has to pay interest to build credit. You can also have credit if you pay any bills.. hydro, gas, heat, insurance

  • i know this has absolutely nothing to do with this video but i just saw this news thing about a two headed baby being born in brazil and because there's only 1 set of organs they're going to have to cut off one of the heads! both brains in both heads are working perfectly there's 2 backbones its just 2 people joined togethor with 1 set of organs so they're gonna have to take a life just so one of the heads can live! :(

  • Really inspiring. Love you guys. I'm a full-time college student with my only income being student loans and I'm so scared about my future financially, but thank you guys for giving me some hope.

  • this was amazing!

  • Shay..Just shut up.. for 5 minutes!

  • Whatever happened to just not having kids if you don't have money??

  • my parents throw newspapers BUT they NEVER had a credit card. only Debit

  • I will sign up to your class please come to Mass...

  • i think its eye opening to hear about the credit card/debt experiences theyve had, learn from other peoples mistakes right?

i love shay and collete, theyre so inspirational

  • ive never missed a showww:D !!

  • I am convinced that a credit card is a fine way to build a credit score assuming the person using it has some will power or if you don't have the bank cap it at $100. Use it just for paying for gas or some small thing a couple times a month. Something you know you can afford. As soon as the bill shows up online you pay it off right away. This way you won't have to pay interest and you will slowly build credit. My point is you don't have to get yourself in any trouble to build credit.

  • hey shay if you reading this. you know how your renting in LA, why dont you buy a house, take out a loan and the money that you used to pay for rent, pay that off your house loan, because if you work it out, say if your rent was $800/week (or what ever) that X 52 is $41,000 you could have payed off the loan and at the end you will have a house and not just be jumping from rental to rental :) . thats what i always got told and have never rented in my life.

just something i thought i would share

  • @micksick16 If you have watched the podcasts and vlogs then you should know that he actually offered to buy the house they are currently in but was turned down. They have owned their own house since pretty much they have been married. They already own two houses. Shay and Colette always talk about good financial practices and follow Dave Ramsey's "financial guides" I'm pretty sure Shay doesn't need any advice. They are debt free.!

  • There is no way to go through life without debt! Unless you do not have a home or you are born rich. To be looked at in this society you need a credit score and that is by proving you are capable of paying bills. (having credit cards)

  • "Oh would you look at this"

  • 13 and 14 you guys are wearing the same outfit too. I was wondering if you guys filmed two episodes in one day?

  • EXCELLENT ADVICE! :D

  • awwwwwwwww, it's cute that you can see shay trying his best to let mommytard talk, hahaha (:

  • ahhh im in espanol1 and i know what u r saying! haha nah conjagation for me isnt that hard just o as amos an or o es emos en doy das da damos dan and so on! haha :)

  • I would love for you to teach a Dave Ramsey class on podcast. It's kinda a catch 22. Someone like me who needs this the most, is the most likely to not have an extra $20 to buy his book or even more to take the course at church. So I would SO love to be able to learn about it in your podcast. Or maybe one of the signed books he gave you. Hint hint! :)

  • I don't believe in marriage. Why do I need a legally binding document to prove my love and commitment? If anything, I think it shows that you really are commited to someone if you DON'T get married. Then you are trusting them to stick with you. I also refuse to get married until everyone can. It's unfair that gay and lesbian people cannot marry. That's just my opinion, but I totally respect your guys' marriage. It's very beautiful and you guys are great people :)

  • @salrun07 Damn, anger management

  • wow shay&colette! my sister and new brother-in-law just got married the 14th but they where not waiting for financial things.

  • ugh shay ,..i have been with my bf for almost 3years next month and we want to get married but like you said where waiting till where financially ready,..but hearing everything your saying its like man,..it scares me if we took that step of getting married right now.

  • Hey guys. Remember during Rocktard's birth in June 2010, Shay told us how Rocktard's birth was the easiest compared to the other kids' and that you'd tell us that story sometime. Well it's been 1.5 years and you haven't told us yet so now would be a good time to share that. Xo. :)

  • @Mssamgirl15 probably becuz mommytards gotten wider and looser

  • WOW were have i been SHAY YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!

  • I were painting my nails and this 27:32 almost made me screw the hwole thing up, I laughed so much!

  • AND WHERES HIS BEARD

  • @MsPinkyPuppy She said, My dress were 300

  • @MsPinkyPuppy if she did have one they definitely didnt cost 300. unless she went to mexico. They cost way more than that

  • @MsPinkyPuppy she said dress lol

  • @OCamillaVanillaO REALLY ? LoL, im so embarrassed right now xD

  • @MsPinkyPuppy she said dress not breast

  • @dnoah88 Yeah, i know, my bad :)

  • I promise I've never missed a vlog. Been here since day one! love you guys :D

  • Why does Shay wear that red bracelet? Is it for that religion, all the famous people believe...Kabala?

  • It's perfectly fine to borrow money as long as you do it in the right way. The problem is, most people don't have any financial education and end up doing stupid things and getting themselves into trouble. I'm glad my school requires you to take at least 1 financing class.

  • Give 10% to your religion, which religion is it where they have to give 25% of what they make... is it scientology or jehovah withnesses? i forget but i think that's ridiculous... like the catholic church does fine with just donations but that's because it's a big religion... the reason why these guys ask for these donations is to make it bigger... imo that's making a religion look more of a business than a place of worship.

  • Thats funny. I'm watching this on my Dell Inspiron... but it's a 2010 notebook. so iit's a bit different :P

  • I like Shay's opinions, but uggghhh, I didn't come on the podcasts to listen to Shay preach financial advice. I came here for the humor, quite absent in this video.

  • Ive just started saving and this was a great help, thank you guys

  • i have NEVER missed a vlog! love you guys!

  • Now I want to work and save money :)

  • my question is "Shay do you miss the beard"?

  • hey guys, been a fan of your youtube videos for a couple of year, nice to hear you doing a podcast

  • soooo borrow the banks money and pay more money then you borrowed. in order to borrow more money...wow....

  • you should tell that to jesse P:

  • Oh a better idea is to tell us all the best wa y to find a great car even if it`s not brand new. X fingers

  • See i'm only 17 and i know pretty soon i'll be faced with the options of credit cards and financing and having to keep track of my own money. i really like everything Shay and Colette say because it makes sense. My parents have very good credit scores and have never had debt and they've taught me the same principals, but it's still cool to hear a different perspective. i'm definitely take into account everything they say.

  • This was SUCH a good idea for a show/podcast, we really get to hear what you wouldn't be able to sit and discuss in a normal video for any of your channels so this is great Thanks so much <3

  • Wheen the kiiiids areee countinggg sheeeep, When the kids go to sleep, Dreammss and meemmoriess, When the kids go to sleep! LOVE IT!

  • Just Torrent Rosetta Stone

  • lol im 14 and i can speak french english german spanish and my motherlanguage and spanish is not that hard its pretty easy XD

  • @iiris700 good jobb you can speak 5 languages, you have way too much time on your handssss my friend.... but thanks for bragging! we know who to find if we ever need a translator for those languagesss

  • Be smart about your credit card. You don't have to use it if you have one. Only put on it what you can pay off at the end of the month. Payment history is the biggest part of your credit score. So if you put $20 on your card every month and pay it off at the end of that month you will increase your score greatly.

  • This should be *required viewing* (in a non-Socialist way, lol) for engaged couples, heck, ALL adults!

  • You should learn German! Then we could talk with each other. So fun :)

  • i still think you are wearing the same clothes, but now i think you are doing it on purpose :p

  • Each month I donate 10 euros to katimoe association, a private initiative that attracts the plight of stray cats. I am the godmother of Beauke, Beauke has epilepsy and needs regular medication. I know what it's like to be sick and not much money for medication and doctor visits.

    <3 from Belgium.

  • WAS LISTENING TO YOU PODCAST AT SCHOOL :)

  • Once again i'd like to refer anyone who is wondering what the mormon church uses God's tithing money for to check out the church's website mormon.org

No paid clergymen. Not a single one.

  • I've been watching you guys for a long, long time. I don't know what the difference is about this video compared to all the others when you talk about debt, but I've decided to completely cut myself off of my credit card after watching this one! Every other time, I always think it's a great idea, but never actually follow through, but this time I am. My twins and I want to thank you for everything you guys do! I love when you have videos like this one. Thank you so much! 3

  • And with the 10% to God thing, anyone who thought that was literal is an idiot. The money goes to the church/ and or the church's goals. Church communities of any denomination cannot magically survive without money. Churchs' collect money for charitable causes, general repairs and upkeep, as well other things such as salaries for clergymen. Churches have to survive economically like any other organization, or they wil be able to do nothing for its members.

  • No more financial advice please. It's so boring, and it's not why I watch you two. I'm 17 without a job or bills, but it must take a real "tard" to not understand this plan. Don't spend more than you have. Work hard, Save, save, save, and then be conservative with your income. You don't need a degree in youtubeology to figure out this crap.

  • i love saying WTKGTS

  • My husband and I don't have credit and we are currently screwed by getting a house. We're against credit cards, but we been trying to get one. Sadly, we been getting rejected.

  • i love listening to theses podcasts, listen to it like the radio when i'm doing general stuff :)

  • ahhh i LOVE katilette's top! so cute. does anyone know where it's from?

  • I wish the podcasts on itunes were on the same episode :/.

  • i love u colette and shay ibe neeb watching u guys since september 2 years ago like when u guys lived in calfornia the first time i was wondering if u guys can talk about princesstard getting lost? alright love u shaytards!<3

  • This is good advice because I am sixteen and my dad already has given me a credit card to start building my credit score

  • If you hate the banking system and dislike how interest can work against you, then you should not support the way that interest works for you, either.

That money that you make needs to come from somewhere, and part of that is from the people that the interest is working against. If you really want the banking system to change, then do not encourage it by self-centered greediness.

Look at the bigger picture and act how you want the general population to work together towards.

  • Shay i hope you read this...since about 2 months ago now you have motivated me to start getting fit and losing weight...i want to thank you for all your advice and i hope you know how many people you have helped to make a difference in their lives. I so far have lost 2 stone and am around 13 stone now..your advice continues to motivate me so keep it up! lifelong shaytards fan

  • Hahaha I actually noticed Shay's "different" outfit before he mentioned it!

  • I've watched all the vlogs too! All 1,034

  • please teach it on here im just starting off and could really use all the help i can get

  • Thank you Shay & Colette! I definitely learned a lot from this episode. I'm the person that has NO idea about anything finance, credit, credit scores, etc. But as a soon to be college grad, I need to kick start my knowledge in all these topics! And this was the perfect video to start with!!! I'm favorite-ing this video right now, and I would definitely watch a video of you guys teaching a class!

  • I would be interested in listening to the class. Count me in.

  • I LISTEN TO YOUR PODCAST JOGGING ON THE BEACH IN MUMBAI ,INDIA ........................YOU BOTH ARE AMAZING

  • @theyash63 watch?v=aowB5wNPvWQ

  • @theyash63 hey! i was just there for vacation! it's a really pretty place

  • @pencil977 THANKS : )

  • 10% to God????? God doesn't want your money.... OMG? WHat did you guys just say?!?!

  • @svveetkitten I believe they meant donation . God would want us to give a little to those less fortunate .

  • @svveetkitten they just mean that they donate money to their church. all churches take donations.

  • My boyfriend and I have a credit card, but we don't use it unless we HAVE the money. And I'm planning on getting a car in the spring, and I am going to get a loan for it, but I'm going to have the money sitting in the bank, just to build up my credit score. Mostly, its for my future. When I do need to buy a house. I think that you just have to find what works for you, and go with it. Just don't spend money that you don't have. That is the most important thing, I think.

  • new drinking game every time they say Dave Ramsey you take a shot...

  • If you want to build a good credit score, get a credit card and pay the balance off immediately after purchasing something. Don't buy anything that you can't afford. Use it like a debit card, just with the added step of paying the bill.

  • shay, can you clone your DNA & i'll get some from charles and combine to make a husband for me?

  • @yunh09 clone one for me too with kassem too

  • You guys motivate me !

  • I'm a 20 years old full-time student (on a full-ride scholarship) & part-time employee (earning minimum wage) with a small limit credit card for the purpose of building up my credit. I don't even have much money on my credit card & it scares the crap out of me. I would TOTALY watch a class from you guys about debt, credit, & just life to learn the best way to start my own life. <3 Love you guys. You are always enriching my life weather its with laughter or knowledge.

  • I like wtkgts more with every new video. As a business owner & a 20 year old trying to work to get money for school I feel dumb sometimes for not getting a credit card or trying to get a good credit score or take out student loans that'll cost me a lot of money. Growing up in a family of 6 I know what it's like to always live on a small budget & shop at thrift stores and know I don't need much. So it's nice to know other people have the same views on credit that I do. Love ya shaytards :)

  • After yours guys last podcast, I kind of don't want to ask for anything for Christmas because I don't want to put my parents into debt. I don't really know their financial situation, but I have three other younger siblings that want a lot, so I feel that it won't cost my parent as much if I don't ask for anything. Plus, it's about time for me to get a job so I can help with paying bills! :)

  • Hey guys, I love the videos and I just wanted to ask you a question because you two seem good with your marriage and it's a problem I have with my relationships. I want to know if one or both of you are jealous of other people (of the opposite sex obviously) talking to one another, and what you think of jealousy in relationships. I personally am an extremely jealous man and I would like to have experienced people's take on it. Thanks :)

  • how many times would you view/rate your videos when you first started making you tube money?

  • OH MY GOD. Shay has lost sooo much weight. I haven't watched one of there videos in about a year or more! WOW.

  • please do an online class, im only 15 and dont know anything about how banks/money works and would love to know so i can have a bright future without debt!

  • So tired of people assuming others are idiots on here. Some of us have more education than you do with your retarded @ replies, so think before you say something to us.

  • You two were absolutely meant to be together. You were put on this earth to be an influence to anyone who is listening. Though I differ from you religiously, I am strong christian, I respect the commitment you have to your religion, to yourselves, and to helping anyone and everyone. I without a doubt love the influence you have on my life. With this moving podcast you have lit a fire under me to find a job, do better in college, and change my ways. I love you two with all of my heart.

  • Youtubers are not celebrities!! Good advice tho:)

  • Why do I live w/ my BF and not get married? Because if we got married, he would be legally responsible for my debts. I am currently in University and am pushing 60,000 in debt. If I suddenly died, he would be responsible for it. Why would I do that? He can help me without getting married (which he is). There is no point in making him responsible for debt that is not his. We will wait until I am out of debt, and then we'll get married. This does not imply that I am any less committed to him.

  • @o0Theresa0o From a financial perspective, it doesn't make sense to rush marriage. Like I said, it just makes the person you marry responsible for your debt. You can both work on paying it off, married or not, but don't take the chance of leaving them with all that debt. What if I got hit by a car tomorrow? If were married, I've just left him a HUGE amount of debt. Bad idea. Pay off as much debt as you can, and then get married. A marriage cert. doesn't change your relationship.

  • this made sense. thank you soooo much! I'm 21 and still living with my parents(mostly because it's cheaper and im scared to live by myself lol) and completely scared and mindblown about living on my own at some point in my life because of money issues and now I'm starting to understand it more because of this video. Thank you!!!

  • I'm going to take your advice instead of trying to get a car I'll save up....shay what's your take on debit cards

  • why aren't the last to podcasts up on iTunes yet?? I NEED THEM ON MY IPHONE hahahh:)

  • my goal is to be debt free within 5 years so my husband and I have been starting to "snowball" our debt since listening to your earlier podcasts...I was wondering if we should continue doing that..or go to one of those debt consolidating people..so we only have ONE payment as opposed to 4 different payments???

  • I'm not sure how, but we never have had a credit card and we just bought a house and found out we had a fantastic credit score. No idea how or what that was based on, but it's possible to do it by being totally debt free.
