  • That's just awesome!!!

  • Do dentists use something similar or not?

  • @Squarerig No. Dentists will not use anything this powerful!

No offense, but your comment made me laugh :-)

  • Thanks for all the views and posts.

    To answer a few questions:

    - The water jet machine is made by WardJet and costs around $100,000.

    - The pumps do all the work; 48K is a lot of pressure!

    - The steel is virtually unaffected by the water jet.

    - The wire mesh below the material does get cut away, slowly; we have to replace it every couple of years.

  • How do you get the water up to 48K psi?

  • That is awesome. Great idea!

  • Wow that's a cool machine. How do you see what you're cutting with all the water sloshing around? Is it computer controlled?

  • @pooh1234567890 if hes paying 100 grand for it I'm sure its computer controlled there isn't many waterjet or plasma cutting tables that aren't computer controlled

  • @pooh1234567890 Ludacrisjr7 is right. It is a CNC machine; Computer Numerical Control

  • Great video! How much cost to cut out a blades with water jet?

  • @Ivarsday I have never run a cost analysis for any of my little projects. Most of these machines pay for themselves withing a few years if they are in the manufacturing industry, or mass production. However, this little guy only does small, one-of-a-kind projects. :-)

  • What is the alloy of that blade? L-6 or 5160 maybe?

  • @thewelderdude I do not know. Most of the labeling had worn off when I got the blade.

  • Does this effect the quality of the steel in any way? And where do you get such a machine?

  • @jalobeaulieu1 The quality of the steel is not effected. (Perhaps some oxide build up due to the moisture).

    Contact WardJet to buy one.

  • cool

  • cool!!

  • I think you could use the already sharp edges of the disc!!!

Corect if i am wrong !!

  • How come the water doesn't cut through the mesh table that the workpiece is on?

  • Yeah, the water cutter must make it a lot easier. I use an angle grinder. :)
