Agree with Snakevenom56; we're seeing about 90% gameplay in this trailer in this well-put-together video and regardless if the apache is doing a barrel roll or the Mig slamming on the air brakes (which I think we're well aware that would induce horrendous injuries in pilots each time) the game itself is still very intense and a lot of fun to play as are all Ace Combat games. Sure they're a little arcadey and the story can be "questionable" in regards to realism but it's still very enjoyable :D

let's be clear that this is the trailer and no gameplay. especially the helicopter mission is very unrealistic (I want to see an Apache hovering, then doing a barrel roll, then again hovering motionless and immediately firing air-to-ground missiles). Regardless of the great graphics, sound and the possibility to choose from a lot of different planes, most of the maneuvers you can fly would immediately break your neck. and this annoys me.

@razgrizghost1 While the camera action plays a big part in the immersion (I liked it a lot, others didn't), there is a much bigger focus on story (IMO) than there was in 6. Frankly, all AC stories are wonky (5 included), but they ALL get the job done and manage to be pretty cool in the process. The story in this one is not as ridiculous as those in the past, and has no anime influence, but it still has the Ace flavor.

@razgrizghost1 I didn't think so. Some people do. However, when most people complain about it, they never talk about what makes it good. It really adds a whole new level to the gameplay. When you're in it, you have a lot of options as to what you want to do. The main complaint is that -some- enemies NEED to be killed with it, but there aren't that many, and you can cancel DFM and kill them normally anyway. It's also exhilarating in multiplayer.

@razgrizghost1 Did you read the Gamespot review? Because that's one of the -very- few negative ones out there. Their reviewer was very biased, as are some of the "fans" (or "purists.") I'm an Ace fan myself, and I love the game. And yeah, the graphics and cutscenes are just brilliant! The great part of AH, is that you can play exactly like the older titles, firing missiles from afar, but when you get in close, you have the option to DFM. It's a whole new layer to the gameplay!

My blood-pressure was rising just reading that scribble of a review, lol. However, most other reviews were very positive and much more objective. His was like a baby crying into the night, lol.

It's pretty much nostalgia for the Cold War, plus the Russians are the only nation (not allied with the US) capable of using it's forces offensively. Many of the hostile nations (Iran / NK) don't have the kind of military to be a threat beyond their borders and having China as the bad guys would piss off the Chinese (they are a HUGE market for games these days).

i have no misconceptions, i never considered myself a pilot because i could play ace combat well. if i wanted to try and live that sort of fantasy i would go and play lock on modern air combat. but i really enjoyed the old ace combat games despite their lack of realism. but this new one just looks ridicules. it looks like ace combat fucked time crysis in chernobyl and had a tragically deformed child. im sure many will love this game but theres no way i can play it and take it seriously

1) Chengdu, the J-10 & J-20 manufacturer, didn't want to work with Project ACES.

2) Project ACES didn't want to work with Chengdu because "it is hard to ask a Chinese company to cooperate with them".
