i have the renegade 800 (mine is the X package, though) and it's not the atv that can't make it up this hill, it's the operator. #1 use 4wd on an incline like this. #2 sit on the seat & lean forward. why do so many idiots try to climb with their foot on the grab bar and knee on the seat? i suppose they know they're going to fail & look for the easiest way to bail out. i'd rather bail to the side, but i don't climb something anticipating failure. #3 lo gear is better on the belt.

This belt issue you talk about is because people are not using them right.

Renegade has massive power and can do everything in high (drive or something) and some people think that is ok because it can, but in snow and uphill you MUST be in low.

And tell your mate it could help to be in four wheel drive and more speeeed

it has a locking diff u just dont understand how it works, its call visco lock when one of the front wheels spins the diff tranfers oil which takes a split second on the new version and gives traction to the other wheel.
