I would be really mad if Allan Ball didn't follow the true story between Sookie and Eric from the books :( They actually have a really sweet relationship and the show doesn't really show all of that. Hopefully the third season will somehow go in that direction since she has to work with Eric to find Bill after his disappearance.

The fourth book, "Dead To The World" is my all-time favorite because of Eric and Sookie's blossoming relationship. It's just awesome. And yea, I agree, the ending is really sad!! I seriously got all teary-eyed :( So far I'm on the 6th book so I'm still in the process of reading =x
