  • I love your videos

  • your video is ALWAYS helpful, one. Two, may I know your setup when you shoot this video? i noticed you were holding a mic, and a cord leading to your partner shooting the video. I owned a Canon T2i, for taking Photos and also for Videos. I plan to shoot a street interview with my friend. I noticed your audio came out crisp.. :D

  • Love your personality! Great energy. Keep up the good work.

  • Hi! Another brill video. Can you just explain why you would set a wide aperture for shooting in the sun? Or did you mean in the shade? I understand if you mean in the shade but I'm confused if you mean not in the shade..?

    Thanks again!

  • thanks man, awesome videos

  • Tnx soo much buddy

  • Cheaper is better :)) Good Job bro! :)) I'm using your vids as a reviewer for my Photography Midterms tomorrow :)) Thanks bruh!

  • I am taking a photography class at Aiken Tech in SC. These videos are great for study and real and true understanding. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these tutorials.

  • Thank you so much. Your information is so so valuable to me. I was thinking about getting a Canon 5d mk ii but I think now it would be crazy to rush into that as I still don't have the money for it. I love photography and my Fuji Film Fine Pix died on me from a fall in a Singapore nightclub in 08' when I was traveling. I still haven't gotten it fixed but think I will now. It is a focus error. You have saved me mindlessly blowing money prematurely. I'll get it when I have the money. :)

  • My left ear is lonely... :'(

  • THX very useful Info :o)

  • just wana say thanks so much. this is so helpful & means alot for those who want to learn just like me... all the best.

  • i never understood what ISO does till i saw your video..i am a beginner...and it motivated me when you saw shoot fearlessly ...i could relate to it coz i am so hesitant to approach people.. thank you :)

  • i just started serious w/ photography i actually have a Canon XT i like it i am gettin the 60d or 7d this summer because i also do video and to have a 18mp camera would be awesom but like i tell ppl aswell you can get amazing quality shoots still with older cameras i love my canon xt BE SMART dont go spending Thousands of dollars if your a beginner becuz it may not be for you then you'll be sitting on a $1800 camera so be smart

First time Watching your videos im getting a lot from you THANK YOU

  • Hello sir, I want to be a good photographer too. I'm a beginner. I watched so many videos on intro to photographies too here in youtube. You have many good stuffs to say there. I am really thankful for people like you who have made videos like this for beginners like me. I want to ask, what camera can you suggest for me to buy. I'm thinking of Nikon D3100. What do you think? I asked one of my friends' friend too. I got no answer from him. He's too good to help folks like me. Great videos sir.

  • I love you man!

  • Your videos are helpful. I was wondering if your photos in this video were touched up afterwards? I'm new at this and I just bought an Olympus E PL-1. Its my first camera and I'm alittle intimidated.

  • hi, thanks for your videos. i'm learning lots of things from you. I finally got how i can manipulate the depth of field on my photos, until now i always got it by luck (changing parameters blindly until I got the photo or loose my chance T_T) but with other of your videos I finally shove that to my mind.

I still don't have a SLR, i'm using a bridge cam (a sx30IS by the way) and even if it's a P&S cam, with your advice i'm building my own technique and taking amazing photos. thanks again!

  • @setsunaes Thanks, I am glad the videos are helping you out. There are a lot of concepts that apply to photography in general and a lot that are thought of as strictly SLR photography, but can used just the same on many cameras. Best wishes in your photography adventures.

    Peace

  • Hi!!

i viewd all your tutorials recently. and those r grt!!

i just wntd to knw dt, wont it be a problem to the camera, i mean wen shooting in the direct sunlight, with all the ultra violet and many many rays frm da sun..??

will it be ok to the camra or do we hv to take care of dt...??

    ThanX!!

    gd luk!! :)

  • @rajeewarox It should be fine. Todays cameras are built to deal with the ever present sun. Be careful with your eyes if you are shooting directly into the sun though. You don't want to mess those up.

    Peace

  • Hi Robert! great tutorials i always learn lots! :D

i just recently baught my first canon DSLR and i just wanted to know what the settings were on your camera when you took the pictures of the lady and child, was it set on manual? or....

    thankyou for your time

  • the photograph u r showing in the video.. is it color corrected later?? or exactly as u shooted.. very nice !!

  • hey mate, lens did you use here?

    Cheers..

  • @ervinbee He used a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens.

  • I wanted to ask you, when I put my shutter speed in ANY number, even like 1/20 the picture is really really dark, and when I get to like 1/500 its completely dark. Is it because im not using flash? Please answer, and thx for the videos.

  • @PIMikeProd Its possible that your aperture is not adjusted properly. If you have a small aperture (high f-stop digits), it will lessen the light that is passing through the lens. You have to open up your aperture a bit to accomodate your faster shutter speeds. Also check if you have appropriate lighting.

  • For the headshots (especially the first one in the beginning) did you crop the photos or were they naturally framed like that with the 50mm lens?

  • im going to college for photography this fall an im planing on buying a nikon d5000 with your tips i should be able to take amazing pictures thanks i greatly appreciate your videos

  • Dude I love your tuts. Its great. Makes it so easier to understand the fundamentals!

  • boooobie

  • cheap cam but expensive lense?

  • @chingoycute $99 lens... as cheap as they come =o)

  • Hi! Great videos!!! Do you have any advice with product photography? What settings to have in your camera. I have a nikonD200 but im a begginner

  • you know what i wonder is. who is your camera man / woman :P

  • @MangaMontana My brother is my cameraman. I am teaching him to photograph as well but video game development is his real study. =o)

  • @FontanaKnowledge video games ave a lot of the same concepts, especially with lighting, i know when i render inside 3d modeling tools it has settings for aperture exposure and even iso in some

  • thanks man help alot!

  • Thanks for this tutorials and the time you take Robert, great pieces of advice.

I just bought a Sony A550 and I am able to get the most of it with your tips.

    Thanks

  • @lballina Thanks, It is good to know I am helping. Keep learning and I will keep teaching .ºo)

  • Hello Mr. Vasques, first of all my salute to you for your simplified, direct, clear explanation about its fundamentals and techniques in photography. I am a painter and a photographer, in short we belong to the same specie, an Artist. I like your style of approach, I applied some of the techniques you mentioned and so far it's such an effective tool. Thank you and more power to you!

  • Thanks a bunch. Your tips on shooting outdoors helped me a lot this past weekend. Kudos!! you're a cool mentor!

  • Just what I was looking for - a clear speaking teacher who puts thought into his lessons.

I got the Tiffen Dfx software and need a lot of the words explained - like gamma, etc. I cant use their software when I dont know what does what . YIKES...

    Thank you for your work!

  • im using an 30 year old camera pentax p30n

  • Dude You Awesome..

  • The lesson here is to learn how to work with those basic settings. The first step in going from "amateur" to "amateur-enthusiast" is letting go of the smiley-face auto-setting training wheels.

  • Ei Man! YOu dont know how much youve HYPED me up!!! Here where I reside, people buy 7Ds, 5Ds and 1Ds saying it creates better pictures. I really dont believe that! Thats why i bought a 550D(the store told me i wont get great pics coz its an "entry level"). But seeing this video, I told myself.."FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME". its not the camera...its YOU! Thanks man! Your vids help me alot!

  • @acevedre The 550D is a great camera some people call it the baby 5D

  • what lense did you ues in this vid?

  • @yoloop93 It is the 50mm f/1.8 from Canon. It is the least expensive lens on the market at $109.00 USD. You can find it at Samys =o)

  • thank for the tutorial

  • great video very helpful for a beginer like me!

  • fantastic tutorials dude.. good knowledge and chilled styles. learnt alot and glad I found you.

  • very informative! the best!

  • nice model!

  • Great video, I like the fact that you are not just pushing the most expensive camera, good tips on lighting.

  • like ur tutorial dude..really cool.thaxxx a lot..

  • Your tutorials are excellent!

I'm watching them as I read through the instructions (as you suggested) to my D5000. <<<outstanding DSLR btw, would highly recommend it. ;)

Your passionate method of teaching really compliments the "jargon overload" from the manual and makes it far easier to understand!

Looking forward to the rest of your tutorials and ty for the help. ;)

  • VEry enjoying. I really like how you showed the goof photos as well. will keep watching

  • you have beutiful wifey and baby

  • @LyraPink This is not my wife and baby......... but I do have a beautiful wife and two babies =o)

  • great! thanks!

  • "Comes from the heart"...I like that! I've been poking around on youtube, looking for something on composition and visual interest. Seems to me, once you plod through all the technology, that's where the action is. After all, a photograph could be technically perfect and still be a snore. I'm seeing lots of videos on how to use your camera, but not seeing anything on how to really USE your camera expressively. Maybe that's just intuition and can't be taught?

  • Hey, I've been watching your tutorial! I loved it so far, and I'm thinking i will like the rest of your tutorial. It is super easy to understand and photo examples at each situation are awesome! Great Job!

  • Your a great teacher man. As a beginning photojournalist, your really helping me nail down the basics

  • aww this made me feel better! i only have sony a300 and 50mm lens..thanks and im really learning alot!

  • amazing video i learned so much most of my pics r in sunlight..but i had 2 watch the video twice cause firstt time i was looking at the beautiful woman .but second time i really learned

  • It sucks that I can't hear anything :(

  • I haven't bought a camera yet...My other teacher recomends the Nikon D90 but I want a Canon. Which canon should I get?

  • im looking at the canon rebel XSi or its also known as 450D i think

  • get a 550d.... i hve a nikon.. but canon's great too..

  • Hey great videos!! I really learned alot from this one.!!

  • love your videos, you have now become my photography teacher.... Thanks

  • i get no sound with this video

  • The video only plays sound on one channel. If for some reason you use only the other channel you will not hear it =o(

  • wait i dont get it.. u said wide aperture and low ISO..?

why wider aperture..? i thought a wider aperture would be more helpful in dimmer lights.. im a little confused there..

  • because any way you have low iso..which is correct if you are getting too much ligh, so they compensate somehow..

  • its ok to have wider aperture because he uses faster shutter speed where it only allows light to enter in a short period of time.

u use wide aperture and and a slower shutter speed in a dimmer light.

  • @Sean2Z He's making "portrait shots". He chose to use a wider aperture to "blur" the backgound to make the subject stand out... But since he's using a wider aperture, this means more light comes in. In order to counter that, he's using a faster shutter speed & lower ISO.

  • thanks for your videos , they are super cool man, hey people out dere have some respect for the mode!!!!!

  • Hey were the pictures touched up in photoshop?

  • Just a little color correction and of course making B&W but not really " touched up " =o)

  • @moesnuts They don't look like it. DSLRs are that good :)

  • what happned to your hair?...its gone? ...are you hiding it?

  • It is just tied up. Worry not friend, It is still going strong

  • i just bought Sony alpha 230. Trying to learn how to shoot on manual and how to shoot in general. It is not easy but I will one day take pictures that i want :) I wish you had free classes in Oklahoma - I would definitely attend!

  • Love your videos that's ive seen

but i guess since you were on that mic I couldn't hear a thing even when i turned my sound all the way up but the other videos work. :)

  • Thank you for your video,

  • Even the freakin baby was LooKin at dem babies! :o

  • i HATE this!!!! no HAIR?!! lay down your hair bra... :) j/k good job!

  • i'm still trying to learn basic photography and your vids help alot :) thank you very much, am planning on buying a nikon d3000 by the end of the month

  • @BeWrong666 same here, do know some stuff and I own a Nikon d5000. Great camera :)

  • I was really looking forward to this tutorial but the sound on it is really bad, is it possible you re-post it?

  • Th sound is only in one speaker when I am on the mike, My apologies. And there is not much I can do with the camera mounted audio at this point. =o( This is one of my earlier attempts at this so I shouldn't have this sort of problem any more. =o)

  • Photography on action, really helpful.

  • thanks!

    Good job! keep it up!

  • great videos from you! Hope to see more of which coming in

  • once again...good vid

  • it seems u edited some of the pix to get the proper flesh tones. did u edit? and wut did u use/how did u use it?

  • Just bought my Olympus DSLR E-420, your vids are awesome and very helpful for a newbie likeme...

  • Did you use the flash? I didn't notice it going on??

  • It appears as though there is no sound?!!

  • Sound only comes through on one speaker. I am not sure which one but the mike I used only uses one channel. =o(

  • you're AMAZING

  • once again great video man. keep it up!!!

  • Thanks a lot dude!!

    keep up the great stuff!

  • There's the Fontana winds we all know and love lol. Thanks for the videos.

After viewing your turorials for 2 days I was able to go out confidently and shoot some great shots. I still have a lot of tweaking to learn but wouldnt be able to do it with out your vids thanks again. I wish you much success in the future.

  • same here!
