I love both aspects but we need to remember the difference between the Sport of competetive fighting... and Fighting for your life.. both are effective but both train to different standards.
Pro fighters have a lot of skill, technique, and endurance.. but lack many of the qualities needed in a life or death situation.. like how to use most weapons, or a weapon of opportunity, or even just bitting the throat of your damn enemy or pushing an enemies eye ball to the back of his skull which most men wouldnt do in the heat of the moment like most Marines would.. its the little things in life that count.. and keep you alive..

If they see you throwing Big Bombs, they can use multiple strategies to take you out. (Low Kicks, Thai Clinch, Takedown, GnP, Submission). The military does not need a lot of Hand to Hand combat. They won't be fist fighting in Iraq.

But truth be told, I don't think that the level of physical effort a marine undergoes surpasses that of a professional MMA fighter looking for a title shot. As for the mental aspect, the shit that marines go through seeing torn bodies of children takes INSANE resilience and mental power. Something people must realize is that "KNOWING" techinques and BEING ABLE TO USE techniques are two dimensions.

@TheDominionOfElites Yeah, a half assed watered down course in basic lethal techniques which are only visually absorbed by the soldiers. Seriously, you have to understand. The Marines don't have any combat techniques that Professional fighters haven't come across, plus the techniques that the Fighters have is MUCH more polished and applicable than that of the MCMAP trainees. This video is not MCMAP. It is two guys rolling like BJJ/Wrestling/Sambo practicioners.

@elmoskater While it's true that they can't hit punch like Ali or Kick like Buakaw, It's ignorant to say they are not that good. They have so many weapons. If they see you throwing Big Bombs, they can use multiple strategies to take you out. (Low Kicks, Thai Clinch, Takedown, GnP, Submission). The military does not need a lot of Hand to Hand combat. They won't be fist fighting in Iraq.
