I feel physically sick that I got so far and it looked amazing until 2:20 when I attempt to drop my text into the emitter controls image source and it decides not to fit as particles of the text and appears above the particles just look shit all of a sudden....help plz ANYONE!:!:!:!
@newprminds Are you sure you set it to random fill and dropped the right layer in the image well? If you post an image of what you had just before and just after I might be able to guess what the mistake is but need more info.
@monkeybrainsmediauk I think I might have the same problem - (Not sure what you meant when responding to "newprminds" - My Shards appear to explode over the the Shared glass image - only the outline of the shard was moving, but its content looked like it was static.Image a that you cut a hole in a piece of paper - and hold it over an image of broken glass - as you move the paper (while looking through the hole - the base image doesn't move - that is what is happening to me. Can you help me? Thx
Where do you get your sound effects from? Should have went one step further and showed me how to add the sound effects...other than that, was with you the whole way and it worked perfect...Thank-you very much...
@JustForYouToSee123 Good suggestion. I do sound work also and am about to put together a website for people wanting to learn sound editing and recording. Might take a few months before it is live though.
Took too long! You seem like you didn't know what you were saying yourself which made me didn't want to watch this whole thing! Next time start from scratch!
@bbllaakkee5460 Thanks for the positivity ;) If you had followed comments and stuff you might have realised that I had to reconstruct things differently many times because of bugs and crashes in motion ruining the tutorial as I was recording. This confused me immensely and I nearly didn't bother finishing it at all. I didn't need to do a free tutorial. No one paid me to go through the agro.
@MrJoshua778 You don't put the emitter in the image source. You can put an image or text layer. I haven't got time to check now but I think its the text layer close to the emitter that goes in there. Try that.
@DualShock1080P Hard to tell without see what you have but depends how big each particle is. You may have used a different size image from me. You can adjust the scale of each particle in the emitter cell controls. See if that helps.
@tomcoomer24 watch?v=1MBvsTlimAQ There is no tutorial but I was experimenting on that magnifying glass video with linking different objects on different layers. I had to do that to make the magnifying glass image appear to do something to a layer underneath (make it brighter and bigger). The link parameter behavior allows you to say link the position of one object to mask on a different object etc. I should have done this in the original ice text project.
@tomcoomer24 No tutorial yet but may do at some point. I did use linking layers though in my magnifying glass. I linked different layers using the link parameter behavior so different effects and an image on different layers all moved in sync with each other.
@tomcoomer24 Yes but you need to link layers using link parameter behaviors. If I built it again I would do it in a slightly different way and make things more linked from the beginning so its easier to change one part.
@tomcoomer24 No tutorial yet but may do at some point. I did use linking layers though in my magnifying glass video, take a look. I linked different layers using the link parameter behavior so that different effects and an image on different layers all moved in sync with each other. You could do this with a text layer and its clones.
Dude your tutorial was hard to follow. sort out your camera. please! I had to hit a wall because you didn't go into enough detail, I did it eventually but after like 10 replays!
@bennyos1 Yeah, sorry its not an easy one. I had to assume people knew a bit already or it would have ended up hours long! Other tutorials will be a lot simpler so I can include all steps.
@monkeybrainsmediauk No, actually I apologise, I was too harsh and just frustrated at the time because I couldn't get it right :') i started again and it all managed to come together in the end...
Understand making tutorials is hard so thanks for the upload :) I ended up with a really cool title!
@mickomalley68 That's because it not in your library! I built the effect from scratch and the tutorial is on how to do that. Its not really for beginners though and about 40 mins long. If you are new to motion try the simpler one, shorter on I did on sequence replicators, thats only 6 mins long. Once you have built a new effect you can add it to your library.
FOR SOME REASON WHEN I TRY TO MAKE MY IMAGE TEXT IT DOESNT WORK I THINK I DID EVERYTHING CORRECT I DIDNT USE THE SAME IMAGE U USED COULD THAT BE WHY???
@leparis57 yes scale etc is going to make things look different and you need to adjust some parts accordingly. Post an image of what you did get somewhere and I might be able to guess. I can't really help without more info.
@expressmotionproduct I need more information to know what your problem is. In what way doesn't it fit? Is the scale wrong? are the particles in the wrong position relative to the text etc? If you put a screen shot of what you have somewhere I might be able to guess. You may have missed a step also.
Bunch of video clips I'm talking more like a transition type like the video would be playing and it would explode into pieces pretty much same as your ice cold video
But with a video exploding into pieces if u have a idea of what I was talking
Bunch of video clips I'm talking more like a transition type like the video would be playing and it would explode into pieces pretty much same as your ice cold video
But with a video exploding into pieces if u have a idea of what I was talking
@XxJD1RTYxX You could do that but its complex and am unlikely to have time to do a tutorial on it for quite a while. I did an experiment today though that may give you a clue.. watch?v=ChBh224HZ0g
@JD1RTY Yes. The particles can be anything you like. I masked a still image to create my particle cell which I called a "shard" but you could mask a video clip instead. A particle emitter can also emit different cell types from same starting point so could have it throw out multiple video clips in sequence. Processing hundreds of video clips will take more juice though and be slower to work with than using still images until you render it.
why does it take 4000 initial shards to barely cover my text, (and it only looks like 300) when yours only requires about 2000? Does the size of the cell or text matter?
@yujirocks not sure but I imagine its a scale thing. most may be so small they are invisible. use a large hires image as possible. I scaled my cell down a lot but you may not need to. I got my large image here mayang dot com slash textures
@yujirocks Yes the size of the shards is going to affect how many it takes to fill up the text. Remember if you chose a different image from the one I chose, it may be a very different size in pixels. Play with the scale and scale randomness on the cell controls.
@rouven4Roses6 The copied text layer that has been disabled (just above the emitter layer in timeline) , take that and drag it into the image source well I show before top right. Sorry, I didn't explain it well and it was around this point that I had crashing, so had to completely change mind about how to show it. So there is a bit of a continuity problem with my explanation style as I cut the 2 halves together. They were recorded at different times.
Sorry for a bit of continuity problems in the first part of this. This is where I was getting crashing an ended up having to cut together two different tutorial captures. Turns out motion has a total hissy fit and bombs if you try to dump a layer with a alpha blending mode into an image source well. Took me ages to work out why it was crashing. Making the blending mode normal stops it crashing!!
Cool but unfortunately the important beginning of the video I do not really understand. Some steps I can not reproduce. To fast... :-/
