Uhm Mind if I use this song in a tribute for Zero since this is his best theme and I love the MMZ(Mega Man Zero) series and I love your cover so I'd like to use it ?
The rhythm guitar is dominating waaaaay too much. Find a tone that is heavy but not so washed out that you can't pick apart individual parts. Dream Theater does this very well, as do almost every professional band... course, it helps having top of the line equipment, mixing/editing software, and mics.
YEAH,ROCK ON,MAN!!! It's ashamed that people don't get to hear your version of the original when they get to play zero in MVC3 once it came out next year..ARGGHH, SHAME ON YOU, CAPCOM
This sounds like Iron Maiden!!! Really cool remix. The quality is just fine, it's just more of a live sound, which I like. I mean, you could adjust the mix here and there if you wanted to but really there's no need.
this is actually not bad... I would always tough that no one could've match the quality of the original Megaman soundtrack, but this is actually not bad
altough I personnally would've like it better if you would have keep shredding (idk the term, im not a musician like you :) ) instead of those breakdown part
but nonetheless
I give you props for doin this even tough I dont find it awsome, it is good work
@ProjectMegaMan Speaking of not being able to please everyone, I have an issue with this remix as well.
Don't get me wrong, the playing is superb. My complaint is the volume, it's difficult to hear the lead over the 2nd guitar. If that wasn't an issue, this would get extreme props from me. As is, it only gets regular props.
@ProjectMegaMan um are you using a program to metalize" these themes? cause if you are can you pm me the programs? cause this guy right here wants to remix =D
@ProjectMegaMan It sounds a bit off key for me, but this laptop has shitty speakers, and I'm not overly familiar with the music, is it just me or are you part way off key?
This is kind of hard to listen to - you really need to EQ the guitars and make them much less muddy, and also cut out the "wall of rhythm" guitar thing. It's like Metallica acted as your stand-in sound engineer. There's a LOT of low mid here that doesn't need to be here, and the lead guitars are really overshadowed by the rhythm. Hard to hear the drums, too - actually, redo the entire mix.
This may be a good composition, but the recording does it no justice.
Zero has a different theme for every x game, this is number two but most people like or only know number one. u might be thinking of number one.... if ur not that go back and play the game again -.-
I think this is pretty fantastic. I love the way the guitar flows along. Only problem is that it sounds too noisy and needs to be cleaned up a bit. Maybe higher bit rate? I know nothing of audio so I don't know how you'd go about improving it, but it's still really solid man. I had this on my Zune a few months back and I'd listen to this on my way to work everyday. Very good stuff.
I completely agree. This song is way too cluttered. it just sounds like a bunch of guitars shoved together. I cant really hear them playing so much as it sounds like theres alot of noise going on. The guitars are too similar to each other to make them stand out from one another. I could replicate the same thing by just strumming a bunch of notes together with a couple of my friends.
Did you even bother to check the high-quality version on NG? Cause YouTube sucks for audio compression.
But if you're so confident about your and your friends skillz then please, do me the favor and set something up for me to critique. I would love a comparison in playing, composing and sound. :)
the whole "my friends" thing was merely an example. As the original poster said "in before hurr go make your own." I knew it was coming sooner or later...CCrockyourass might have been blunt about it, and I suppose I was too, but honestly, the guitars in this are so muttled I can barely tell them apart. And yes, I have heard the NG version and the "change" in quality isnt vast enough to make any difference. If the composition is bad, it wont sound good no matter where/how you play it.
And I knew that somebody would ride on it till I post it. :)
That's something new that the guitars are "muttled" since I was using two different tones for rhythm and lead. Never recieved this point of critique really and I do work with a lot of musicians. Well, I guess you just can't please them all, right?
If you don't like it, that's ok. Everybody is entitled to his own opinion. :)
well no offense to you but from what i gather, most of your "critique" is usually along the lines of OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME MAKE THIS SONG NEXT UR SO COOL!! I dont think many people actually "listen" to the song so much as they hear a live version of their favorite themesong in guitars and fall to pieces regardless of how good it actually is. Im a huge megaman fan and something about some of these fall short. I think youve gotten alot of praise due to popularity rather than quality.
I get my critique from elsewhere. I mean, it's more than clear that this is no site to discuss recording related matters. I get my critique from professional/labeled artist so I do think I'm all ok there. As for the quality, I have to disagree. I'm a huge Mega Man fan myself since I was 5 so if I wouldn't put everything in it I wouldn't even do this in the first place.
But like mentioned in my other response, those are "older" songs and things were just the way they were at that time. :)
Which artists? Is there any place I could see their critique? I'd like to compare it to my own an see where we agree and disagree. If you wouldnt mind that is.
B0unC3 and MaestroRage for example but there are a lot more. Their critique is given to me through private mail so I don't share this kind of information with the public.
@Gileum I'm with you man. I'm not particularly a fan of these overly symphonic-esque arrangements, but it's certainly not bad. It just follows the traditional SSH sound too strictly for my tastes.
@PrimalLight2323 Thank you. Its not every day I meet someone willing to have an opinion AGAINST something that's popular. After all, just because something is popular, means it is also good, like Hannah Montannah! And if you dont like it, you'll be ridiculed and strung up by your neck for it by the rabid, mindless fans who cant look at something from a neutral perspective.
@VoidDragon77 Most video game music runs together, though. If you listen to any video game soundtrack, you will notice that very seldom will you come across one that actually has a noticeable cadence. It's because of the continuity of having that missing cadence that allows the game to be played by the person without noticing that the song is repeating.

the first 2 games were the best, 3 was ok, after that it went down hill fast. the only good songs that came out of the later games was Zero's theme (opening of X5) and the X vs Zero theme in the 5th/6th games.
Any chance you could do a metal mix of The Fighting of the Spirit in the tale series? I found a clip of an guitar player who put made one that rocked, but didn't have it in a downloadable format.
Also, in X5, so many allusions are made to Wily its not funny. Especially in Zeros ending, where we see a silhoutte that looks just like Wily, big hair and all.
Ah, you mean the Shoryuken? I drilled him with it plenty of times. You just need to catch him when he's briefly off guard after doing his ground flash move.
Which Game Do You Find Out About Dr. Wily Making Zero? I Beat "Mega Man 1-7" And "Mega Man X 1-6" And I Don't Remember Anything About Zero Being Made By Wily. I'm Not Saying He Wasn't. I've Just Been Looking For A While And Can't Find Anything About Him
Play Bass and Megaman on the SNES, at the end of Bass ending Dr. Wily says he used Bass information to make the plans for a new Reploid, and that he will call it Zero.
I think the doctor, cant recall hs name atm, doppler maybe? was perverted... he gave zero boobs, im an extreme zero fan and all, but ive always wondered about those...
ah yes. And then some time before the Zero games he got a new body but then his AI was put into a new body while Omega took his old one and.......screw it, a wizard made him. there.
great work here, but i have one constructive criticism to think about in the future
I think you got a little carried away with the drums, and it lost the original rhythmic aspect that made it so exciting, namely the syncopated natured of the main theme. the double bass kind of smears everything together.
Having a love for the metal genre of music, AND being a Megaman fan, I fell in love with this. I've listened to it twice now. And since Zero's my favorite character...yeah. XD Hey, the guy's a badass.
dude the song itself is awsome.. but that info there of you telling what i should be imagining makes the thing, ulgly & nerd... now i think i dont like this song anymore.. its strang , but its true..
but anyway fuck that im gonna vote it for 5 stars anyway. ,cuz of the good song.. may knowledge fill your life.bye
The "story" is not what you should imagen. It's just my view on it to describe my song a bit better. A lot of people actually found it very helpful. Of course you can imagen your own for it or just enjoy the song as what it is. :)
Also, isn't it a bit ugly & nerdy that 24 year guitarist like myself still plays the games AND the music? ;)
I could send it to you, if I find it on my comp again. It's just a simple self-written tab for the main melody. Don't think I tabbed the remix parts as well so don't expect much. : /
That was pretty damn good. I like how you gave the theme some of your originality. I'm working on covers myself but unfortunately have no way of recording it.
It sounds like most of the rhythm guitar is tracked dead center, which is causing a high loss of clarity for the overall track. Even when listening in stereo, I can't really discern the melodic leads.
Not to presume your level of production knowledge, but panning rhythm tracks to the left and right and leave the leads to the center.
If you'd like an example, check out any of my remixes (including my Megaman 2 one), or if you just want to chat production shoot me a message.
Nothing wrong with the playing or the construction of the song at all, so don't let people tell you that it doesn't sound right because it doesn't follow the original track, that's not the point of remixing. Keep at it!
As you may have noticed, this is a pretty "old" track from me by now, so of some things I'm already aware. ;)
You're right though about the rhyhtm. I still was searching for a right balance. I made it a bit louder and more up front in this tune, some like it, some don't. :)
I guess I'm in the minority when I say I dislike the song, even after checking the high-res version.
Something about it just seems like it rubs the wrong way, maybe it just seems to heavy for Zero to me. Not sure, I've never been very good at describing why something bothers me.
Either way though, I won't knock the effort. It does sound like you put a lot of work into the song since it's not just the notes re-pitched or sped up or whatever some people try to claim as "original work."
Well, as I wrote many times before...You can't please them all. I can understand your pointers though. The tune doesn't sound heavy in it's original state, which may be your main problem with my version.
Furthermore, I did go out of the original melody and created my own "original" parts. I guess that could be another point.
Anyweays, I'm glad you were constructive about it and not like other people who just made a stupid comment without much sence behind it.
I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with everyone. This is kind of butchered. Its too convoluted and doesn't sound like the song it claims to be a cover of.
Alright, if you say so. You do know that you're a little alone with your opion there right? But, what's the saying again? You can please them all, right?
Thanks for checking anyways. Oh and btw...it's not a cover, it's a remix.
Maybe you shouldn't listen to the MONO version of this...reading a description is usually something one should do...That's why it's there...
I love critique that isn't really critique! <3
Also...you can hear everything out. There are tons of people telling me that this version has more than enough "soul" to it and that it's more than just a "tribute" to zero's theme...
Copy and paste for the win...What's the saying again? You can please them all, right?
You are very talented and I am a huge fan of the games. I have a request if it hasn't already been done by you. Sky Lagoon from X4 for Zero! You are the only one who will ever do it justice! please, for the good of all us fans! Say it with me guys! Sky Lagoon! Sky Lagoon! Sky Lagoon!
Alright, if you say so. You do know that you're a little alone with your opion there right? But, what's the saying again? You can please them all, right?
I don't suppose you could do a METAL version of his theme from UMvC3????

I think the doctor, cant recall hs name atm, doppler maybe? was perverted... he gave zero boobs, im an extreme zero fan and all, but ive always wondered about those...
MePlease2211 2 years ago
actually it was Dr. Wily that created Zero. It was his last robot, hinted at in Megaman the Power Fighters, the arcade game.
hellmo64 2 years ago
yes, but in mmx 2, or possibly 3, dr. doppler remakes zero with better armor, and his z-zaber
MePlease2211 2 years ago
ah yes. And then some time before the Zero games he got a new body but then his AI was put into a new body while Omega took his old one and.......screw it, a wizard made him. there.
hellmo64 2 years ago 5
I'd believe the wizard thing.
redchakra1 2 years ago
And also hinted at the end of MMX2.

MDthornton83 2 years ago
great work here, but i have one constructive criticism to think about in the future
I think you got a little carried away with the drums, and it lost the original rhythmic aspect that made it so exciting, namely the syncopated natured of the main theme. the double bass kind of smears everything together.
mrHUG3 2 years ago
Having a love for the metal genre of music, AND being a Megaman fan, I fell in love with this. I've listened to it twice now. And since Zero's my favorite character...yeah. XD Hey, the guy's a badass.
Very nice work, you've got some talent there. =D

dude the song itself is awsome.. but that info there of you telling what i should be imagining makes the thing, ulgly & nerd... now i think i dont like this song anymore.. its strang , but its true..
but anyway fuck that im gonna vote it for 5 stars anyway. ,cuz of the good song.. may knowledge fill your life.bye
MangaRED 2 years ago
The "story" is not what you should imagen. It's just my view on it to describe my song a bit better. A lot of people actually found it very helpful. Of course you can imagen your own for it or just enjoy the song as what it is. :)
Also, isn't it a bit ugly & nerdy that 24 year guitarist like myself still plays the games AND the music? ;)

no its not, its cool!

I'm SO using this as a character theme... it's fucking kickass, and I'll give you credit if I ever use this in a video

The internet is full of dumb people! I don't mind comments like that at all. I do find them rather funny and enjoyable for me to respond to.
I think I have a basic tab of it lying around here somewhere but I don't know if I tabbed out the remix part as well. It's more or less improvised. :3
DarKsidE555
ProjectMegaMan 2 years ago
Sweet! If you don't mind telling me how to get that tab, that will be great.
Maybe I can do a little improvising myself :-}
Sparkie510hieu 2 years ago
I could send it to you, if I find it on my comp again. It's just a simple self-written tab for the main melody. Don't think I tabbed the remix parts as well so don't expect much. : /

That was pretty damn good. I like how you gave the theme some of your originality. I'm working on covers myself but unfortunately have no way of recording it.
ultramegamanx454 2 years ago
It sounds like most of the rhythm guitar is tracked dead center, which is causing a high loss of clarity for the overall track. Even when listening in stereo, I can't really discern the melodic leads.
Not to presume your level of production knowledge, but panning rhythm tracks to the left and right and leave the leads to the center.
If you'd like an example, check out any of my remixes (including my Megaman 2 one), or if you just want to chat production shoot me a message.
nekofrog 2 years ago
Nothing wrong with the playing or the construction of the song at all, so don't let people tell you that it doesn't sound right because it doesn't follow the original track, that's not the point of remixing. Keep at it!
nekofrog 2 years ago
Hey there!
As you may have noticed, this is a pretty "old" track from me by now, so of some things I'm already aware. ;)
You're right though about the rhyhtm. I still was searching for a right balance. I made it a bit louder and more up front in this tune, some like it, some don't. :)
With experience comes quality.
Production chat? I'm in! :)

Sorry for double posting,
But if are taking requests, An intresting song to hear (if you are to do it) is Blue's Whistle (AKA protomans theme.)
ProtoAlex2006 2 years ago
I must say, you are very talented.
Screw the haters, if actually listen the riffs match the song.
ProtoAlex2006 2 years ago
I guess I'm in the minority when I say I dislike the song, even after checking the high-res version.
Something about it just seems like it rubs the wrong way, maybe it just seems to heavy for Zero to me. Not sure, I've never been very good at describing why something bothers me.
Either way though, I won't knock the effort. It does sound like you put a lot of work into the song since it's not just the notes re-pitched or sped up or whatever some people try to claim as "original work."
SutaSafaia 2 years ago
Well, as I wrote many times before...You can't please them all. I can understand your pointers though. The tune doesn't sound heavy in it's original state, which may be your main problem with my version.
Furthermore, I did go out of the original melody and created my own "original" parts. I guess that could be another point.
Anyweays, I'm glad you were constructive about it and not like other people who just made a stupid comment without much sence behind it.

I see no real reason to just go "lol this sux and so do u." You obviously put effort into this, and as you say, you can't please us all :)
SutaSafaia 2 years ago
I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with everyone. This is kind of butchered. Its too convoluted and doesn't sound like the song it claims to be a cover of.
VandalSword 2 years ago
Alright, if you say so. You do know that you're a little alone with your opion there right? But, what's the saying again? You can please them all, right?
Thanks for checking anyways. Oh and btw...it's not a cover, it's a remix.

I totally agree with you. Just a Loud ass Rift. Cant hear the soul of the music.
meastro5491 2 years ago

Sky Lagoon! Sky Lagoon! Sky Lagoon!

I like this a lot.
It was made really well.
The only thing I don't like is that the lead guitar track sounds a little drowned out, but that's probably my speakers or something.
Either way no big deal.
Still great work. :3

The sound is overly scratchy...and it still sounds synthesized.
I'M SUCH A CRITIC

Not every comment is critique ya know. How about reading descriptions first and maybe checking out the high quality version of this?
Maybe you'll change your mind pretty quick then.
Also, synthesized? LOL...yeah, talking about musical knowledge...do'h.
DarKsidE555

It still sounds scratchy in stereo.
And when I say synthesized, I mean it sounds too much like it was made on the computer, as in only the bass sounds like a guitar to me.
