Cat's was sleep on this cut, it was 1 of my fav's of this album, i wish i could only find the Cd along with in a special way and Gemini my Debarge and El collection'll be complete, so who's selling?
this is the thang el is a true dissapointment but atleast he new he couldnt keep lettin down his fans and fought that shit and came back instead of being another music industrial desaster
i forgot all about this take me back makes me realize just how much time has gone by never thought they would get el but they did but think god hes back 2011 and he still got that debarge sound which is why its timeless
I am 47, white, and I can say this with total sincerity: De Barge was one of the very few, and I mean VERY FEW "new" artist that I listened to during the early to mid-1980s. When I think back during that time period, and all of the CRAP that the music industry was trying to peddle off as talent, De Barge was a much needed breath of fresh air. Their music was well written, impeccably produced and their stage act played second fiddle to no one.
I've only come across DeBarge recently. This stuff is great. I think they must have had a big influence on Steely Dan's later recordings as I can hear echoes of this in many Steely Dan songs.
Oh man! You know when you hear a track you've never previously heard and you can't believe how great it sounds the first time! I only just happened upon this sweet tune and I can't believe how awesome it is! I'm bopping away like crazy with headphones in front of my laptop here, lol. :D
Get's A LIttle Bit Stronger AHAH AS THE DAYS GO BY AHAH!!!! Love the outro of this SONG!!! Bunny, El and the gang ARE IN TOP FORM on this track. Should have been released as a single.
I loved this song back in the day and I almost forgot about it! This song will get anyone moving to a positive day! We need something to uplift us in the world nowadays! The music itself is really motivating! Thanks for the post on one of the greatest family groups of our time! Peace!
true Bunny is op thur as a lyric soprano with Deniece Williams and Syreetha adn Fern Kinley....I love those voices...they sound like angels from heaven to my ears!
Yes I've Heard That Too They Were Supposed To Come Back Doing Gospel Which I've Heard One Already They've Done Together I Mean The Whole Group!! I Think The Song Was Called "We Need You Lord" What Was Mesmerizing About It Was That They Still Sounded The Same & Same Vocal & Musical Style They're Known For Except It's Gospel But I've Heard It Which Was About A Year Ago But Yeah I Heard It Also Too They Were Comming Back With A Gospel CD Supposely This Year.
This is one of my faves on the cd. I always play this on my way to School in the morning and the sun rising... It is so beautiful. Beautiful music in the most beautiful part of the day.
I don't know whether to cut a step off of this one or give a praise show out...LOL! I guess by them having a christian background it's comin out in the secular music world back then....
Man I use to be IN LOVE WITH BUNNY DeBARGE!!!! You could not TELL me I wasn't gonna marry her!!! She is now 54, has gotten a little chubby and has grandkids now...DAMN!!!!!
Some of the songs on this album were better than some of the newer ones. I don't know why this one didn't make it. Some of the beats in this song almost sounds like it could have been a "church song." Despite the addiction, EL is classy all around. He'll come out a winner i believe!
I remember when I was in jr high and I was tryna get a little group together with my friends at school. This was one of our practice songs. We used to sit around the table in the cafeteria and just harmonize to a few DeBarge songs, including "Share My World". I always did El's part lol.
I like the pace of this song, but Bunny always sounded like a chipmunk to me. Even Eldra varies between his normal voice and his falsetto. But I love to hear the two of them harmonize.
LOL yea...Bunny's voice falls in the category as a lyric soprano which is the highest soprano voice. It's really light and angelic. And I actually like when El sings in his chest voice. Sounds just as good as his falsetto.
Whoever that was on the bass was killing it!

One great thing about their songs was their arrangements. They really knew how to jazz things up in their songs, I gotta hand it to them,

It does kind of have that Andre Crouch 80's gospel feel. Love me in a special way has a very churchy sound though.
