one of the soloists I cant stand watching and listen.. I dont like his movements at all and technical I also dont agree, its slow and it seems to fast for him at some places..!?

Allegro giocoso ma non troppo!!! You understand what that means?? You think i can't play fast?? This music is full of slav flavour and if played too fast all the details are LOST!! I wanted to make music and NOT show off my technique. And it is MORE difficult to play slower because you cannot hide anything! Hope that answers your question! Think of the music my friend and what the comnposer wanted!

First of all, I never said that you couldn't play fast, doubtless you are able too. Second, I know it is harder to play slower, I'm working on the concerto myself right now. However, it IS the slowest version I have heard, and you could probably play it a bit faster without losing the details. Thirdly, I did not mean to insult you; your technique and tone are great. That is all.

My translation of the tempo marking: Lively and playful, but not too fast. In my opinion, the performance is still a hair fast. The violin performance is amazing. I love it.

Hmm, I just wanted to add something - this movement is like the apotheosis of the Slavonic Dance. I think the reason that I want it to be slower is because... well, I wish the music would last forever =).

@StuderRevox fabulous show last sunday with you leading for the firebird. And in relation to your reply to alienet18 I agree with you, I think that perhaps the reason why some people feel this is too slow is that they heard it played fast first.
