Very nice and detailed tutorial and tips on your really cute crafts. I made dough craft candy canes using wheat flour for the dark stripes and bleached flour for the light stripes. I rolled the dough into 1/4 inch rolls and braided them. I cut and bent paper clip wire into a U shape and pushed it into the top of the ornaments before putting them into the oven. They turned out really nice.
Hehehe. I was rewatching this vid and noticed Ethan in your wrap but thought "who is that baby she's holding" cuz Ethan is all grown up. It took a second to remember that this vid if from last year. LOL.
@QueenofCraft1 I noticed they don't shrink as much but the dry time varies depending on the thickness. The santa hat ended up falling apart from gravity. It was a mess lol
i tried to make theses today...lol and my dough dont come out like urs......i dont know what i am doing wrong....lol....can u email me the recipe please and instructions please.......
my 4yr old daughter and i made these and she gave them for Christmas gifts to her aunt and her grand parents we had a blast thanks for sharing i love trying your recipes as well!!
what do u do with the scraps..after u use the cookie cutter i saw u put the scrap on the side and start a new batch can u use the scraps for ordiments too or have to start over with new batch?
well its STILL drying lol I thought it would take awhile :) it also looks like it might be cracking a little.....I will have to do an update on it as soon it dries :)
I haven't made them since I was in kindergarten!!! I think I am gonna make some for my tree. I don't like glass bulbs so this is a good alternative, plus it gives me something to do while little man is sleeping lol Thanks for sharing Sasha!!!
hey love this idea its pretty kol. was wondering how did you do the heartlike ornaments i like those the most. where do i get all types of cookie cutters at excluding the xmas ones???
I got them at a yard sale, but you should be able to find cookie cutter at most stores in the baking area. A craft store is a good place to check, like Michael's. for the heart I just cut out two heart shapes and pushed them together. The dough is very easy to stack or mold shapes together :)
you could use anything to mold the shapes you want its just like playdough. for sugar cookies you need more ingredients then just flour and salt. there are several different ways to make sugar cookies though :) I have been thinking about doing a how to video on sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies but you cant type in sugar cookie recipe and find one that sounds good to you :)
I really love this I am wondering how long can you them being a food item of sorts can you use them year after year? If you stor them right? i am not saying I have them but with rats mice or bugs does the sealer help?? I really love this idea can't wait to do it .
once they are dry you can use them year after year :) we just place them in ziplock bags with foam so they dont break. you can use moth balls or cedar chips to keep the bugs and mice away I think....you may want to look more into that lol
