  • I know Tom, I've seen him live many times, and I, hand on heart, have to say Tom Baxter is one of the best live performers I've ever seen. I was so pissed off when I saw that Shirley was singing it, not because it's Shirley because she is an icon, but because it's one of my favourite songs but take a second to look at Tom's face, sheer pride, quite rightly. Beautiful song.

  • La Bassey, one of the truly great artists of our time!Bravissima!

  • I look at this over and over and over and over again....it never gets old. What an amazing experience. Thank you Tegzee. Thank you so very much...

  • Absolutely breathtaking performance by one of the world's greatest singers ever! Vive Shirley!

  • So much better than the album, but then again, she is always better live. I think the actual band and the electricity of the crowd fuels her passions, hence the delivery is often staggering. Makes Kylie look like a realy budgie.

  • @toucheturtle300

We already know Shirley has a powerful and strong voice but when there is a live audience in front of her it's like the adrenline is going and she's in the moment and her vocals just soars. I always wanted to hear her live because there is just something about a song from one of her albums that you can't get as you do when you see and hear a live performance from her.

I hope she continues to sing this song in her future live concerts too because I love it alot!!

  • If you missed this, shame on you

  • hear the music alone----perfect!!! see her perform with all the emotions----the best!!! just perfect talent. i love you mam, for me your the best!

  • I honestly really prefer the Tom Baxter version

  • @benhammer11 that's fine. I may prefer his too, seeing as how as yet I'm not impressed by this song. Where can I find his version?

  • @Rosannasfriend Spotify!

  • @benhammer11 what's that mean?

  • goosebumps all over me. Fantastic

  • Fantastic!!!!!

  • ..."lown away.."....meant 'blown away!' Pardon typo.

  • Ok well for someone like me who's into hard rock...I was absolutely lown away by Dame Shirley Bassey new songs from this concert.

    Thanks for posting.

    :-)

  • The simply amazing Dame Shirley

  • what a song - what a VOICE!

  • this is such a beautiful song, gets me everytime lol xx

  • I can only imagine that he must be immensely proud to have his song given the full Bassey treatment, to such wonderful effect.

  • a beautiful song and performance

  • A living legend doing what she does best. Amazing!

  • wow just great. the power and emotion. good song writing and all credit to the musicians. what a delight to have your song sung by such an icon. gives me goose bumps i loved it when i saw it on telly i was glued to the telly.

  • ehm.........tears ....pfff no words

  • I have always liked Ms Bassey but her new CD has blown me away. I love this song, beautifully written and performed with emotional truth. Not many performers around that can convey lyrics in this way. x

  • This beautiful song was wriiten by an incredibly gifted guy whose star is yet to rise to its highest but soon will and performed by an equally incredible lady!

  • Par Excellence performance.

  • Tom is an extraordinary songwriter and performer, I've had the pleasure of seeing him live several times and there is so much emotion and power in his shows, hard to convey in words. He seemed happy with this collaboration and dame S.B. gives it her usual all. I hope Tom will be returning to a stage near me soon

  • this is one of my favourite songs on the new album. Simply beautiful and stirs great emotion.

  • Brilliant. You must be so proud. I prefer you singing the song but its fabulous to see a big Star singing your very own song. wow how must that feel? xxx

  • Absolutely breathtaking performance.

Watching this on BBC, earlier in the year, my youngest son commented that I'd stopped breathing, I was staring at the TV, and there were tears running down my cheeks.

Had me thinking of my late wife, and my son's mother.

    Soppy, I know.

  • @Limpandtotheleft tears can bear witness of a sincere heart, your son will remember this. Dame Shirley is superb/

  • I have loved this song ever since I first heard it live over 5 years ago. I've always thought it was a beautifully written song but to hear someone else sing it and it still take me breath away confirms just what a beautifully written song it is. I still love Tom's raw passion when he sings it as he takes me on a journey but am glad this has been posted so I could share the experience. Thankyou.

  • After listening to the new album is this one of my favorites. It´s so much soul in the lyrics that you close to start crying.

  • I've also loved Tom Baxter's music for years and saw him live a couple of times. This is just amazing. I appreciate both versions but Shirley takes it up to a higer level. Let's hope that Tom Baxter finally gets all the credit he deserves. He is an amazing songwriter.

  • I couldn't believe it when a friend pointed me to this song! I've loved Tom Baxter for years, and this is from his first album - the most heart breaking song ever. I agree, Shirley Bassey sounds as if this was written for her, and it gives the song a whole new lease of life as far as I'm concerned. Fantastic!

  • 3.12 magic, this lady is the our girl!!

    amazing...

    DAME SHIRLEY X X X X

  • Shirley Bassey! Well, what can I say? She was my grandmothers favourite, my Aunty Betty's favourite and has stood out amongst a host of fabulous singers.

    What a privelage!

Can anyone else put so much passion, feeling, interpretation into a song as Shirley? She has lived the lyric and knows what she is singing about.

Tom Baxter's beautiful song has been given the treatment he never dreamed of. I'm sure he will agree and no offence meant or implied. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

  • Shirley can sing!! LOve her!

  • I have to honestly say I was disappointed if not a tad underwhelmed with Dame Shirley's studio version of this fab Tom Baxer song. The live version is far superior, expressive.....

Typical Shirley delivering a fantastic version. Once again apologies for the audio being slightly out, however feel this does distract too much from the delivery!

  • Yes this live version exceeds the studio recording.. I think they should update it with this one in fact, I've listened to this video over and over again, thank you for that.

One little thing though is that her name is spelt wrong in the info you put in the top right corner..

  • This is stunning - words cannot express how I feel right now. Beautiful xx My heart hurts while listening to this.

  • I love this song and am a huge Tom Baxter fan. Im amazed by this performance though, because Shriley totaly "owns" this song when she sings it. Its as if it was written for her and that she had lived every moment of it. Wonderful!

  • i remember watching this performance on tv! gave me goosebumps and made me cry!

amazing voice and a beautiful song

    thanks for sharing

  • WOW !!!!!

  • Stunning spine tingling version. You guys should also check out Tom Baxter's albums 'Feather and Son' and 'Skybound' - the original of this song is on Tom's 1st album. Also check out his live performances - esp. 'Half a Man'. Thanks for the upload.

  • Errrr, "Feather and Stone"

  • Hi Folk's... sorry the audio is slightly out. Will try and upload a cleaner version

  • Thanks for this.....Very haunting in a way,

I keep listening and ....love it !

  • I agree. It's hauntingly beautiful. I can't find it on itunes though :-(
