First of all, the translation in the part when Susana calls Marcelina a "bitch" is inaccurate. That vulgar word was never written by Da Ponte in the Figaro libretto. This opera ws handled carefully due to it's being a banned play in the period just before the French Revolution so I doubt profanity was used at all. The exact translation is "what a tongue! What a liar!, Thank God no one believes her". Second, Palmer is the best Marcelina, although the pacing here is too fast
Not sure i agree with you 100%. First of all, compared to some of the tempos that have come out on Mozart recording in the past 10 years, this tempo seems perfectly acceptable. 2nd, we have 2 queens reading each other and throwing insults with a smile, I think the tempo is fantastic to keep the spirit of the piece. it is after all a comic moment, not a serious one.
The spirit of the opera is to be found in Mozart`s music, not in the conductor`s wish to finish the piece in double quick time. He quickened the tempo throughout the opera right from the start of the overture. It`s a comedy yes, but a race it`s not.

I don`t know who the conductor was for this version of Nozze , but he must have had a train to catch.
