  • YO WRITERSSUCK . COM

  • THE WGA IS DONE! LOL!!!!!!

they're union is going to literally collapse due to the fact some of them are striking and some are working! what kind of solidarity does that show!

  • Director Guild already made and agreement with AMPTP....near six months before the contra expires for them.....lets see if wga can do the same!!! DGA,org to see details of deal made

  • This video is good until it makes the claim of "no health plan" "no pension fund." With that it takes on the same credibility issues as a Roger Moore "film."

  • I guess the writers have given up since obviously they know they're losing alotta ground daily.

  • Have you noticed that Chris Crocker asking the media to leave Britianny alone has gotten more than 10 times as many views as all 93 WGA videos combined? There is a reason for this, I'll let you figure it out.

  • Um... that the average person tends to be superficial and run away from anything that's not a train wreck or a skiing monkey? That would be my take on it...

  • IATSE crew doesnt get benefits if they don't meet the required hours which they can't because their production and job is being held hostage by a striking writers guild.

    Writers are Terrorists.

  • I SORT OF see what they're saying in this video, but I think it's a bit simplistic and not totally convincing, especially considering writers get Motion Picture Health benefits AND actual residuals for their work. The reality is as pjohnson52 states: if we don't make our hours in a 6 month period, we lose our benefits.

  • "Writers are Terrorists"

If people know the nature of the business when they enter, how can they complain that ALL of the unions are interdependent? If another union went on strike, the writers would be dependent upon them in another way. Your argument is a failure in logic.

  • The WGA sucks, you line up IATSE vs WGA and put us in the ring, WE WILL TAKE U DOWN!!! buncha pencil neck hoes

  • You mean like a smack down? Oh pj...you're such a card!

  • Go WGA. I hope you guys get what you deserve. Life is boring without what your hard work produces. Thanks for this video, I am an IATSE member (Seattle) and this helped a lot

  • Great explanation. Go WGA!

  • If writers are so concerned with the crew members where were they during the Strike a Deal march last weekend?

  • I don't work in Hollywood, but I do belong to the Teamsters union. I have been to enough meetings in my many years to know that this videos doesn't even begin to explain all the ways this strike will help all unions in this industry. Why else are they fighting them so hard on a pathetic 4 cents? The reason is that this is about more than just the four cents the Writers Guild is asking for. GO WGA! Your fans understand why you do this.

  • Haha, thumbing me down is your only defense. I have no idea that you are now regretting this little stunt of yours. Way to go on allowing your contract to expire. Hope many opportunists 'scab' to fill the jobs you people left behind.

  • How can you be expected to understand workers fighting for fair compensation and contributions to union health and pension plans? You're probably still covered by Daddy's health insurance plan.

  • No, I earn my health insurance every week. My 'daddy' doesn't have health insurance. He's fighting for disability which he earned through back breaking work, something most of these people (and probably you) know NOTHING about. So don't presume to know me. I don't put myself out in the public eye like these people do and expect us to support a cause that has nothing to DO with us, fuckhead!!!

  • Nah...I don't believe it. Trolls don't earn benefits! Nice try for the fake poor little proletariat girl who is into world suffering. :)

  • Nah, just thought you liked Sara. Go eat your dinner you hungry little troll.

  • Maybe, but at least we're not scorned by Sara...

Didn't you say you were going to stop "deigning". Boo! troll!

  • Ah, back from your coffee break, troll? Still bitter that you weren't able to sell your own screenplay, I suspect. The troll life looms large in your future.

  • All of the above. But you weren't rejected by the WGA, you never got that close. Have to be hired for your writing's value, originality and worth firs to become a member. Being an internet troll doesn't count. :)

  • Are you sure that your boss is OK with this? Wasting all of your valuable troll time on lil ole me while you ignore all those other pro-WGA youtube sites?

  • Prison Break? :)

Crew member's health and pension fund contributions are directly tied to the percentage of residuals WGA members receive. It's in their contract. The writers get stiffed, so do they. I'm sure they appreciate your concern:)

  • you remind me of my insecure, conservative (by indoctrination) ex girlfriend.

  • And I'm supposed to care because...?

  • Sara. I don't think you are any of those things. But maybe you might think about the connections we all have to each other. No one likes to miss a favorite program. But, many of us think supporting economic fairness and justice, in the long run, is important for the common good. The need for health care and retirement benefits are common needs. To me, these writers are doing that--not just for themselves but for other union members and for all of us.

  • Again, my name is not Sara. I'm the one who was scorned by her. I have to question the reading comprehension of anyone else posting here when they call me that.

  • I hear you and agree with you. As an out of work member of local 600 I'd say the writers have behaved irresponsibly. You are exchanging blows with 3rd rate junior writers. I can tell you that the writers I worked with are all on vacation someplace nice. They are not exactly worried about pay their mortgage.

  • What the....Do I smell fumes? You may need to go outside a bit and get some fresh air.

  • I love it... Scorned has some of the most writer-driven pieces of art in his/her interests, but doesn't want them paid.

Carlito's Way, Mulholland Drive, Do the Right Thing, Fire in the Sky, Oldboy Prison Break, The Sopranos, Squidbillies, The Boondocks, The Simpsons, Twin Peaks

  • What does 'art' have to do with it? These people don't care about their art. They've clearly demonstrated it's just a business to them.

  • And don't tell us what we deserve or not deserve to be. Or that we're in it for the money. We didn't invest a good 10 years of our lives so that we can break in an industry where we won't get paid.

The American economy is only affected by unfair business practises, by racketeer and corrupt organisations and stupid government choices (like going into war).

  • So don't support it. Your clever reasoning wouldn't be much of a help.

  • By saying you and the studios are both the problem doesn't mean we don't know you're posting on the studio's behalf ShitheadSara.

So stop crying for the foley artist....

  • I just don't understand how anyone could be on the studio's side on this one. The writers (many of whom work very hard to support their families) just want their fair share of internet revenue. They aren't asking for much - pennies, actually. And they certainly deserve it. The studios are not negotiating in good faith. Those are the facts. What's the problem, Scorned?

  • Well maybe Scorned you aren't a shill. The writer has to sell a spec script first? So what did they do prior to 1988 when spec scripts weren't as prevalently written?

  • I'm not on the side of the studios or the writers. I have no interest in even being involved with what should be settled behind closed doors, but WGA expects us viewers to treat this as our battle too, which is ridiculous. I didn't take away your residuals, so why the fuck should I have to go without Prison Break? Why should the crew members have to go without JOBS during the holidays? This entire thing was done for selfish reasons.

  • I think the Prison Break comment is the real crux for you Scornyboy. Crying for BTL over a video explaining how the strike effects these unions is even more precious.

  • Yeah Scorned, who needs to pay the rent if you're doing what you love. And food? Pffft!

  • well said

  • We must hang together or we will all certainly hang separately!

  • This vid is very informative, all who dont know much about the strike should see this

  • Great vid. Thanks.

  • Very good info.. I didn't know that at all!

  • lot of good this does after they've already been layed off :/

  • did you send this to the other unions so that at least someone for sure looks at it?

  • get info on the residuals breakdown

  • Please share this with any IA members!

  • i heard they're building a new video sharing site geared towards complete tools and general dumbasses. you should look into it.

  • Fuck off, tool.
