@TunedPortZ28 Nothing but Respect to ya! The most rewarding time in my career "other than this" was in Iraq when an army unit came by to thank us for saving their ass when they were being ambushed!
How were you aloud to fly this fighter? Did you have any experience with any other type of aircraft? What kind of training did you have to complete before flying in the viper?
@WildBillHabiki That massive change in altitude you noted was editing. We spent the next 10 mins or so just climbing and flying straight and level out to the Military Training Area IE Warning Area 147D. So in the interist of keeping the video down to about an hour I cut out alot of boring parts! Did you really want to watch me sit at the end of the runway for 7 mins waiting for a helicopter to get out of the way???
@aflack lol dont pay that guy no attention. Lol but im supa jealous right now.lol I would walk naked at the superbowl if i was allowed to fly in one of these. Sweet mercy.lol
aflack thanks for replying to my comment on how that F16 accelerates.
I have a book that details fighter aircraft from 1914 to the present day and for the F16 it lists the plane as having a maximum speed of more than 2125 km/h (1320 mph), combat radius of 547 kilometres (340 miles) and a service ceiling of 15,240 metres (50,000 feet).
So that is one agile, powerful and maneuverable fighter aircraft.
Eat Bananas! They taste the same going up as they do going down!
LOL I really dont know that because I am an experienced pilot so the assult on my senses didnt overwhelm me too much.
My only regret is that I spent too much time documenting it and not enough enjoying it by actually getting on the stick!
You will be surprised at how little you move the stick and until you get used to it you will massively overcorrect. Hince my bouncing when I was flying!
wait correct me if im wrong , but did he /you get a go on the stick for a little while???? omg im so jealous like you dont even know!! lol but you deserved it , wow im still in wow mode. because i heard him say "you dont have to put much on this thing" like he was flying it for a minute , soooooo lucky!!!

i totally 100% understand that lol. man i love this video because you can hear everything that was said and every little grunt you made, it made it feel like POV , like im experiencing it with u, even tho i couldnt feel the G's your expression made it a little more understandable, i always wanted 2 b officer but my eyesight cut that dream short, i even had eye surgery and that still didnt help, so im happy for you that u got this opportunity, thanks for uploading this, best vid on youtube no BS!

coolest video ive ever seen, nice job. do u have the 3rd part? i should've gone to the air force. i always thought that it might be cool to be a fighter pilot.
This has got to be the coolest video I've seen. It's been my dream to fly/ride in any jet, really. I can't have that, tho because I don't have 20/20 vision and can't afford Lasik. It's a sad thing for me, but I'm so happy i got to see your video. Thanks for putting this up on youtube.
Thank you very much. I too couldnt become a pilot in the military for the same reasons. However you can still be a private pilot!!!! So dont think you cant achieve your dreams!
So an F-16 ride is a reward but an f16 pilot won't ask for an incentive ride on a Humvee?? No wonder ground forces crack so many jokes about these guys lol. But all jokes aside max respect

Very cool vids! I still remember my first ride like it was yesterday! Got to sit in the back seat on our way to Ramstein to have my jet painted. Best flight I've had!
LUCK PURE LUCK! Thats it really, yeah I could throw out three combat deployments helped too but 75% of it was pure luck! We didnt ever have a D model we had to borrow it from other units!
wow...thanks for sharing this...I have to smile every Time I watch that Movies...Man I think you felt like a litte Boy in front of a Giant Christmas Tree ;o)
I still watch this like crazy becuase it was the time of my life! I wouldnt believe it actually happened if I didnt have this becuase it felt like a dream!
lol yup thats exactly what it felt like! It felt like someone came up behind us and kicked us in the ass except I didnt fall to the ground, I just made sounds like I just had an orgasm! LOL
Great feeling, isn't it? I got a ride in June 84 in the former W. Germany. Did a vertical take-off out of a German base, aerobatics & 9Gs near Ramstein. Awesome. High speed low level to near Cochem on the Mosel, went up the river to the Rhine then down over Bitburg where we went DACT with two F-15s and got our asses kicked on the way. Got a certificate I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Flew in tail number 82-1031 with the 496th. ur video takes me back. Loved being a crew chief.
We were TDY to Incirlik and they let some local Wing weenie fly. The pilot recommended taking an air sickness back, which he refused. They taxied and took off. 20 minutes later they IFE in and the pilot opens the canopy. Mr. Incentive ride had a glove full of puke, was wearing it down the front of him and they wound up throwing away the oxygen mask. He got out and started walking away until my bud and I handed him a bottle of windex and a box of kimwipes.
Later that day when Turkey got really hot, we had a crew show and strapped them in. They closed the canopy and started the engine. Nobody said anything until after the air conditioning kicked in and even with oxygen masks, the guy in the back wanted to know what died, afterwhich they ground aborted expecting that they'd probably get sick, too because of the stench. Yes - you puke, you clean it up. The practice is still alive - amen to that.
Hey leave me alone I actually got on the stick unlike most who take a ride! I wasnt afraid to put it through some motions!
I got better the more I got on it! Just simply lack of experience! The non-moving pressure stick threw me off! Too much time on the sims and not in the real thing!
Also not having a hud in the back seat kind of sucked!
absolutely amazing. i couldnt stop smiling. im extremely jealous. i'd love to get an incentive but i havent been in long enough so it prolly wont happen for a while.
enjoy the ride and fly when the pilot allows me to do! This aircraft is a trainer for new f-16 pilots, since this is an incentive ride its all about rewarding faithful service!
Super cheeze, D! Loved it ya wingnut. Made me smile the entire ride, especially since you sounded like an old granny on O2 with a Percocet drip. "E" ticket ride...Congrats.
takes my breath away!!! this is truly america's finest doing what they do, and i'm thankful. glad that you got to participate in this, derek! you have worked with this aircraft so much, now to be able to be in the air with it does indeed bring a smile to my face.
Being handed the control of a F-16 would've given me the biggest chubby I've ever had in my life...haha!!

what is that extra altitude box (showing 1000 ft above the regular altitude indicator) with the R to the left of it?

@Nastafar Radar Altitude, doesnt have to be corrected for air pressure. It is the altitude above ground level.

That F16 accelerates off the runway like nothing I have ever seen.
I mean in several seconds you are at 200 mph then airborne at 250 mph and climbing and accelerating rapidly away.
JasonB1969 1 year ago
@JasonB1969 Also keep in mind that the speeds displayed are in knots not miles per hour. 200 knots = 230.15 mph 250 knots = 287.69
500 miles per hour = 434 knots!
This is why after experiencing this fast cars dont impress me at all!

Also not having a hud in the back seat kind of sucked!

enjoy the ride and fly when the pilot allows me to do!
