  • How Google works. Cool.

  • Sounds complicated for such a simple search engine :/

  • It would be nice if Google makes videos with subtitles for international fans.

  • bublepoof.blogspot.com

  • Wow! Amazing weight loss. :D

  • That is a good basic explanation of how Google works. Thanks.

  • Google rocks!!!!

  • 33 Bing workers disliked this video! :P

  • There is never enough of this kind or amazingly optimistic and wonderful work.

  • Nice TF2 2Fort ambient sound

  • @maxfan141

It's actually from a pretty public sound repository - it's been used by a lot of people for a lot of things before TF2 was released.

  • no one likes ads.its nice that they show up only on certain vague searches

  • Nice One

  • this got me a top grade on my ict thanx matt cuts:D lol xx

  • "The life span of a Google query is less then 1/2 second" - from description.

"Less then"? Seriously, this is my most hated language mistake.

    It's "less THAN"!!!!! THAAAAAAAN!!!!!

  • google doesn't decide very well! check out e - k i d s . t k it has to be kid friendly! to go on the site and there will be a one for older people 16+ that has only links that are no spamming cuz we all no that google isn't very good at filtering spam!

  • So now in 3:15 I can explain how Google works AND what steps a client would need to take to improve their ranking... all I can say is wow :-)

  • Do something about Cry Wolf Productions false flagging videos.

  • EXELENTE VIDEO SOBRE EL BUSCADOR DE GOOGLE YA QUÈ ESE BUSCADOR ES UNA MANERA DE BUSCAR PÀGINAS WEB EN EL BUSCADOR DE ESTA RED GOOGLE; YA QUÈ ES UTILISADO EN TODO EL MUNDO. LA VERDAD QUÈ ES UN BUEN VIDEO QUE AN SUBIDO A YOUTUBE. LUCAS DE ARGENTINA

  • Having worked as a web marketer for over 10 years, I've tried to explain this concept hundreds of times. One of my friends just showed me this video. Instead of fumbling through my attempts at diagramming how it all works, I can point them to this video now. Thanks Matt.

  • So google is storing a copy of each webpage their spider goes to? So they effectively have almost an entire copy of the internet stored in their data centers... huh

  • This very helpful specific info in my research of Google as a potential employer. Thank you!

  • thanks

  • I don't have to use my sad presentation anymore. This is very easy to understand. Thanks

  • Intresting ..

  • If i was searching for the running speed of a cheetah, i would expect to get a more accurate result then "over 60 mph" :)

  • @snatermans Every cheetah will run a slightly different speed, like how humans all run different speeds. "over 60 mph" or probably a more accurate result than any specific number.

  • @masterlink101 I don't realy want to go into an internet discussion, but i wil say this:

    1. There is a smiley, indicating that i was making a joke.

    2. I'm fairly positive that not EVERY cheeta's max runspeed, is more than 60 mph as you are stating.

    3. And I don't think your point is valid, because it is fine to say a specific number. If you're talking about top speed, i would say that you take the fastest of the bunch. but you could take the avarage.

search google youreself and be amazed...

  • some malware has hijacked your hosts file

  • No censure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi when i put youtube into google it comes up youtube (broadcast yourself) and when i click it it sends me to porn or cheap flights plz help it is doing it with everything i search

  • @50cliber Then you aren't using google's search engine.

  • @ixcaliber well i am so wham lol urmm

  • So many people do not even understand how complicated is to search one word out of billions of websites.

People just take it for granted, "of course there is search".

  • fuckin hell, no wonder google makes bucket loads of money

  • Thats alot of porn

  • looks like a mac ad

  • @tehJakeJones So that's why it looked so hipster and ugly

  • nice work.................

  • awesome

  • For anyone interested, you can read the initial paper describing Google written by Brin/Page online here ilpubs. stanford. edu:8090/361/ You could argue it's one of the most important docs of our generation! :)

  • @BboySoapy Thank you for sharing! I downloaded the doc and I will read it at some point this weekend.

  • i just typed cheetah running speed

i figured tha its speed is 70 mph

  • I think directly adjacent refers to Keyword proximity to the link, if not in the anchor adjacent to it. Matt?

  • What does "directly adjacent" mean?

  • @r8pal Words that are right next to each other. For example, in the sentence:

"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."

"quick" is directly adjacent to "the" and "brown", but not "lazy".

  • Matthew Cutts - You're the geekiest nerd in the history of geekiest nerds; that's my opinion.

  • Now it even helps me figure out what to search for to see even better results.

  • I just wish it were that simple.....as Matt puts it...lol

  • i know that they are geeks and that's the look they are supposed to have, but this guy should really shave! (i am also a geek and don't shave, but I am not the spokesman for a multinational company)

  • this dude lost weight

  • Comment removed

  • Great job Matt. You make a fantastic spokesman for Google.

  • Hi Matt,

I like your video, it is very clear and simply shows in a nutshell what is all about, thanks for sharing I will post it in my blog.

    Thanks!

  • Great simple explanation of an exceedingly complex matter. It boils down to an even simpler explanation: search rank = authority + relevance.

  • Brilliant!

  • What a LIAR! Google absolutely favors those who employ Google AdWords and other services! They called our business and asked if we were willing to pay extra to have our site ranked on Google's "top ten." "Impartial" my ass

  • @rBuck50Suck I guarantee you that it was not Google calling you. These are knock off "seo" companies that cold call businesses and disguise themselves as Google. Need proof? Just go on Craiglist in the Jobs section and look for SEO Sales jobs. These companies are all over metro cities.

  • @rBuck50Suck

Google doesn't call extorting people for money. I work for one of the Top SEO companies on the planet and You would not begin to believe some of the crap that I hear from prospective clients. They are lied to, intentionally mis-informed and just abused.

I have a sales/marketing background as well as 8 years of professional SEO experience and I completely believe what you were pitched some B.S.....but it was not Google.

  • What is the page ranking you are talking about. What is that used for??

  • New google world order shit !!! we are doommmmedd !!

  • @takeitonemoretime123 we wouldnt be doomed, the world be fun!

  • Superb

  • para los que no saben , asi es como funciona google .

  • I don't want to see any ads at all... Why are they still visible?

  • @ionplgr becasuse millions of servers to store web pages = a LOT of money. Lots of advertising = lots of money :)

  • Hang on, hasn't BP just paid google to place its OWN pages higher?

  • @virtualpilot45 That would be an advert, and it's shown in yellow at the top of search reults to tell you it's a paid-for ad.

  • @badmanners411 Oh those ads! thanks!

  • @virtualpilot45

    ya i heard about that

  • great video - thumb up!

  • Great video, thanks to Google.

  • This video was great, thanks for the explanation, it was very interesting.

  • i dont get it you seem like a non fat person yet you have that fat under the chin LOL i guess all day behind a computer makes that

  • @system0system0 thats very smart. wow. nobel prize to yoo my good sir.

  • Yet, none of this explains why men have nipples...

  • Thanks. This was interesting! :-)

  • The computer sounds like team fortress 2 :D

  • Getting fancy with the new vids guys!

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • Is this a new video (did your hair grow back)? Or did you film it before you got 'bic'ed?

  • One Word - WOW.

  • This type of video presentation... helping the user community understand how Google works will assist you in remaining number one in search I think!

Thank you, and please consider doing more like presentations.

  • google rocks

  • there's nothing sexier than answers

  • Many ask me how google works and why their sites aren't on google.

Now I can show them this and I think that they'll understand.

    Thank you very much !

  • Google is the best

  • @ZHMagic Lol, very funny

  • google on

  • google on

  • thanks, very simple and crisp.

  • really really nice intuitive video..Please can any tell how this video is created? is there a software for creating such a video, thanks in advance for any type of help.

  • the harware behind it all must be fucking phenomenal

  • @judoisoww Linux

  • @lakshmereyou mean it's a linux or unix firmware/os running it? wow 32 thumbs up that's a first for me

  • @judoisoww Google reached 1 million server in the middle of 2007....

  • @judoisoww who is phenomenal?

  • @gavhenrad no one the machines behind the whole process

  • @judoisoww Actually, the hardware is cheap.

  • @judoisoww Yeah. Seriously it's amazing! Google has an INCREDIBLE amount of supercomputers.

  • @judoisoww Yes, I saw this video today in a Google headhunting audience and was stunned by how awesome their computing power must be.

  • @judoisoww

It started out with shit they found in a dumpster

  • Is it just me or did the sounds at 3:13 resemble sounds that also appeared in Team Fortress 2?

  • That's what I thought

  • the add's at the top of the search results are very unfair. I see lots of unexperienced web users click those links assuming its part of the search result and thus a page they might find their answer (and not a company that says they have the answer because they payed google for a few words, like @unrealgogetr says)

  • at 2:33 turn transcribe audio on and it says "at the top on CNN" lol

  • nice video~!! thanks

  • IS this for real? LOL They have really lost track..

Great company but not a search engine any more. Only a matter of time..

  • i found this guy really nice ,

    thanks for the video.

  • You say you only put ads that are useful...but when i search t-mobile i get a verizon ad....

  • At 2:33 in the caption "ads" is spelled wrong - adds.

  • high IQ but boring gits stuck in dull jobs

  • got that right

  • When are you going to write Matts Google for Dummies?

  • take one of the t out from the tts and add a n

  • @mrfisherrman uh cutns

  • How can i get spanish subs (not google spanish autosubs)

  • @aidanciyo hola yo agregue la traduccion en forma atomatica

  • Great Explanation for people who did not care what happens "behind".

  • Nice to see the stubble. If google gets into participatory deliberation (Go ahead ... google "participatory deliberation" ... you'll find me ... up near the top.) I will every day shave to a socially acceptable stubble.

Right now I have 66% of my full beard. see @bentrem ... the MIL-SPEC tech_doc anarcho-buddhist/activist. heh. (I didn't say VRML ethologist, or SigInt airborne-infantry, gimme credit!)

  • do the same thing that you recommend

  • the link in the video description returns 404.

  • "We only show ads that we think will help you to find what you're looking for."

In other words, "We only show ads if enough people pay us to show them."

  • Google montre ici sa capacité à réagir aux allégations de la Commission Européenne sur leur manque de transparence supposée quant aux conditions de positionnement dun site dans les pages de résultats.

  • nice animated graphic presentation

    How Google made it?

  • Yaaa, me too. Unlimited funds is handy.
