I fell yesterday and got my back stepped on by my horse, clue I think I'm ok now but I just remember seeing a flash of green and my friends pony galloping
Dont worry, everone falls, 7 times and you become a rider ;), im 16 an experienced rider, and i cant remember falling off atleast twice, once i fell of in a full speed gallop, horse turned corner and boomed feet went under and he rolled on top of my arm, the true curage is getting back on!
Ouch! I had the same thing schooling in the paddock on my boy, and it wasn't a big jump (three foot six or so) but he just got the completely wrong distance and his hind leg ended up bent under his body and my mum thought he'd broken a hip or something ... He was alright after a bit of physio though :)
It isn't your fault if you had an accident so don't beat yourself up about it :)
Yeahhh My sister was riding o an englesh saddle my dad put a girl on the horses back.... They both fell off little girl went to the ambulance... I was terrified. Got hugged by a hot gut tho ;) I feel ur pain! lol

It wasn't your fault neither a horse. It just every rider has a bad days, bad times and bad things happened to them. the good thing is, you and your horsey alive. That you survive that day.
I hope your ok. Don't feel bad, it's not like you purposely did it, it was just a bad distance and your horse wasn't sure about taking it, don't blame yourself just be glad neither you nor your horse was seriously injured.
@kbrown1012004 doesn't nessecarily mean anything. i have a haflinger, wich is also a breed said to be a bad jumper, but i recently jumped 3 feet with her.
I've seen this happen to finer types as well... breed doesn't mean anything, I know cobs that will eagerly jump anything you put in front of them no matter how big or wide, my little 13.2hh cob jumped a 1m10 spread easily and I have seen videos of heavyweight cobs jumping bigger. They may not be as agile as a warmblood etc but they can definitely jump!
i had a bad fall today training my horse and he spooked at some cones which he has seen sooo many times before....... all i remember is i was on top then my teacher is saying don't move ! lol

tht sorta happend to me and i cant remember my fall i hurt my shoulder too but i ride western. the horse took off and i apparently thought it was smart to swing my leg over and jusmp off with she was running..... not very smart
That is the exact pose my horse landed. but i was jumping a tiny cross-rale and she stumbled on the pole and fell...and i was falling but luckily i was okay.
ha i had a fall just like tht a few days ago!!! the horse landed on my leg and my side went 100% numb. the babys allright now just cut his lip. its amazxing how accidental these falls can be, it was an amazing canter until he fell over his own feet!!! its not bad though

I have actually done grand prix's around the country and its funny how dumb you've just made yourself look cus if you haven't flipped its coming. I flipped when I was at a show and they had just redone the footing, not giving it time to set it, and my horse's hind end gave out on take of so we couldn't clear the oxer. But really I hope your the exception and don't flip, good luck!
@jumpersax well unless you can afford a horse that is good nature is isnt a complete nut (im guessing thats your case) then your posiblitys are higher, But flipping is the ultimate and good riders wont put up with it. Ive only ever seen one horse flip and it was a ott tb.
@ChloeRosie14 I know I wasn't at all trying to say that flipping should be a norm in your riding career but rather if it happens dont let it ruin riding for you. To be honest I actually hate the horse world with all the politics and rich snobs that run it and and am joining the army to get away from it for a couple years since i have done it my whole life. Seriously good luck with your riding, be careful!
@jumpersax I agree with you :) my horse hasn't flipped over a fence, but one did flip (rear) over backwards, down a bank, and into blackberry bushes... :/

I was asking a horse named Feather to canter, and she just didn't feel rite so I was gonna stop but it got out of control. remeber that I started sliding up and my feel were out,then I couldnt see anything for like 4 minutes,and I remember I opened my eyes and I saw my friends mom shaking me trying to get me to get up, it was so scary,but I remebered that I have to keep my confidince!!!these r wat help us the most at the end of the book though
my first fall ever was kinda similar to this except we wernt jumping-just a casual trot and his back leg hit his front and he tripped, all i remember was seeing his head go down and i looked at his withers and his neck was all bent, i went head first into the wall with a helmet that didnt fit, i slid down and couldnt move the horse was pawing infront of my chest my coach was screaming get up, long story short i got a concussion and a new helmet :/
Well i fell off a green horse while riding it, and he made a huge jump and after that i clashed with my back right into the wooden fence, which of course, was broken.
I have had a fall like this once, also at jumping, but i fell and rolled and nothing was broken, just a slight headache...
one time at my camp we were riding and i was like 4 or 5 feet off to the side of the horse then one of my friends took out her lunch in a plastic bag.the horse was scared and jumped sideways a few feet i was next to him so i ran sideway not forward considering i couldve been seriously injured i still got hit and flew 4 feet sidways. my instructer said that i was smart to run to the side not forward she said since i was small if i was to run orwardthat i wouldve been trampled and mightve died
Weh! Not gunna lie I laughed a little, not cause the fall but cause your heels were down almost the whole way until your poor horse toppled :/ glad you're okay !
I lost cout how many times i have fell doing dressage with all the corbetts and that. I am luck to of never hurt my self I used tolaugh when I fell off I wpnt laugh again becouse now I know what can happen
i had a fall like that too. i was riding a trail at the stable and fell off. i must have hit my head on a rock cause the helmet i was wearing was scraped up and damaged in the back. i dont remember much but thankfully i was able to call for help. my horse stayed by my side the whole time and thats how my family was able to find me quick. i was told i lead my horse back and took care of him before i went to the ER. i still have a scar from it, but no matter what, i will never stop rideing :"3

Don't be sorry! I'm sure Zeb understood that it hurt you as much as it hurt him. It wasn't your fault and it certainly wasn't Zeb's :-) Like Kashii007 said we all have our falls and so do our horses :-)
my horse reard and fell on me i blacked out and almost broke my back but the horse was nice enough to roll off of me right away to get off of me and left leg. i got back on the horse. reared again but this time i stayed on. i will never forget that. my parents werent there. if they were i would never ride again bc they would worry to much.
this same thing happened to me over the jumps on my old horse and my mumm came rushing over and said that i should sit down but i just told her to calm down we were both fine xxxxx

Very very well sat. Just got the striding wrong. Have you ever tried canter poles into jumps or connoting strides out loud. It really helps to get a feel for your stride so you can tell when that sort of thing is going to happen so you adjust it before it's too late. It really helped with me xxx
I don't remember a few falls xD supposively I fell off while racing a friend and did a faceplant and nearly dislocated my shoulder from sliding into a barbed wire fence. My horse ran off into the woods, and I don't really remember falling or the day after
my friend was galloping in my "saddle of death" the horse slipped and knocked her off ballence she fell and slid on her head and couldn't remember the last 2 days the next morning.
NOW I GET IT!! I ride this big horse named Topsider, he's 25 but he bolted on me and I fell off in front of my mom. He's my fav horse but she tells me I shouldn't ride him. I'm like "Why?" And now I know because of this video..
OUCH... ive seen videos like this :( why do the horse legs collapse under them? is it like they are stumbling or somthing? When i had my first fall i was 10 and my dad didnt help me and i cried because i really like that horse and it turned out the people we got him from lied and he wasnt right for a beginner and he bucked me off :( hate that memory but we all have our REALLY bad days :/
Think of it this way. My trainer just told me this cause i recently fell off my hirse really badly but she said "if you never fall you dont know how to stay strong. If you never stay strong you wint get through life" my friend also said " everytime you fall you get ten times better as a rider because then you know what you need to do to prevent yourself from falling again"
Nice fall by the way. :) Glad your okay. I fell off my horse at fair bc he got spooked and i sprained my shoulder and got a mild concustion but i dont remeber falling off. Ahaha and yes its possible to sprain a shoulder.
I have a bad one, the horse almost looked like a draft horse he was that big and had arthritis (or so we thought), we picked up a canter during a course, we picked up the wrong lead going into a turn, I tried to slow him down and change it quickly, but he was already tripping. His went down and I fell over his head. His nose in the dirt, his rump flew up and over, landing on me. He was stuck and had to roll a few times to get up, but was sweet, didn't freak. I was scared for his safety, not mine
there happened something similar to me, too, but i could never find out what was the mistake.. now, watching yours, i think our horses made the same "mistake"...take a look at "Rudah caiu", karina4everliving...check if there was or not just the same thing!
Scary! last summer I was Jumping and I shouldn't have been Jumping my old guy well he Jumped and he fell on me He is a sweet boy and tryed to see if I was ok ;) he hurried and got up and tryed getting me up my mom was keeping it cool but my dad was so worried he was screaming at me I am now not aloud to Jump but I do it anyways I fell off a couple of weeks ago he started screaming at me but i'm going to a Jumping clinic soon. Jumping is my life I have to say! so glad your alright!
wow i am soooo glad that u r better! i know how it feels not to be able to remeber a fall, i cant remember one of my falls and now my shoulders and back will give me problems for the rest of my life. and the bone in my upper left arm is cut open permanently. i am sooo happy u and ur horse r ok!
@kaeso100 the bone has a slight opening in it and they cant fix it. yeah nasty i kno. i sprained it in that spot in one fall and went riding two weeks later and i didnt know that my arm wasnt healed all the way and i fell again and landed on it. sorry for confusing you...
@showjumperluvr4 I'm sure the bone will heal just fine, so don't worry about it. Sounds like a mild avulsion fracture or a stress/hairline fracture, depending on your age and the fracture site. Often fractures like this don't need interference/surgery so don't let it hold you back. However sprains or other soft/connective tissue damage may need some care during the recovery process/aftercare. I'm sure you will be in tip-top riding form soon, if not already! Good luck!
@showjumperluvr4 Very rarely, fracture sites won't 'heal', your doctors mean that the opening in the bone has been replaced by scar tissue rather than a (bone) callous. So glad you've been back riding, I wish you every success.
ey at least your mom cares at all. I was going over a jump and the horse and i fell, he fell on both my legs and it changed my life for ever. I have knee problems now but when i fell off and got back on even though I broke my foot. THE GLORY OF ADRENALINE! :D
i've never gone down WITH the horse! my horse bronc bucked when i TOTALLY did not expect it, and i feel literally ON my head and cracked my helmet. i was alone &blacked out probably. i went to the ER and it was a grade 3 concussion... 2 months later i fell again. i was alone at the time, and i have NO clue what happened..i might not have fallen, because my horse was already untacked when i called my mom..another grade 3 concussion.. i was out of reality until the next morning! glad you're ok!
a few months ago i was practicing barrels and my latigo strap broke why i was runnin home, well i got a concussion and blacked out for like an hour but i'm fine
i know how you feel......seriously....... i was riding with my friend a few years ago now,... we were running in a field along the tree line, she was riding her pony and i was riding her 16 hand quarter horse, her horse kind of shyde away from something ran in front of mine cutting it off so my horse mov ed over and a tree branch wacked me in the face, i was hanging onto the saddle, and i was like, hey ill let myself fall, i let go and now i dont remeber what happened after that... it was scary.
you did a darn good job staying on his center and trying to let him catch himself, and staying on him when he was down! i have photos of a friends having a very similar fall, scary!

The same thing happend to me this summer but i was barrel racing and my horse flipped over head first on top of me i broke my nose, shoulder and F uped my hip and didnt remember a thing about! I think we are two lucky people!!
thatz y you jump movable jumpz so when the horse tripz and falls it wont break itz neck trying to get itz feet off the ground so at least you jumped a moveable jump!!
Thats when I will stop riding - when I am gone. See, my mom wont let me jump (even though I am going to do it anyway) but she doesn't undersand that accidents can happen anywhere. and it's not even about the fall. Its about the flight when you jump. Its about the freedom, and so much more...
anyway, My horse's feet came out from under him a couple weekends ago. Luckily I was bareback, so I was just very sore the next day. But I know how you feel...
You just feel so guilty about endangering your horse, and I remember cantering around a turn, and next thing I know, I'm on the ground, and I know you shouldn't do this, but I jumped up and made sure my horse was ok. Unfortunately, no one caught it on camera, so I couldn't see how epic it was in slo-mo lol.
Neither of us were hurt, just a little shaken. but I'm glad you two are ok!

To be honest I actually hate the horse world with all the politics and rich snobs that run it and and am joining the army to get away from it for a couple years since i have done it my whole life. Seriously good luck with your riding, be careful!

@jumpersax I agree with you :) my horse hasn't flipped over a fence, but one did flip (rear) over backwards, down a bank, and into blackberry bushes... :/

I was asking a horse named Feather to canter, and she just didn't feel rite so I was gonna stop but it got out of control. remeber that I started sliding up and my feel were out,then I couldnt see anything for like 4 minutes,and I remember I opened my eyes and I saw my friends mom shaking me trying to get me to get up, it was so scary,but I remebered that I have to keep my confidince!!!these r wat help us the most at the end of the book though

my first fall ever was kinda similar to this except we wernt jumping-just a casual trot and his back leg hit his front and he tripped, all i remember was seeing his head go down and i looked at his withers and his neck was all bent, i went head first into the wall with a helmet that didnt fit, i slid down and couldnt move the horse was pawing infront of my chest my coach was screaming get up, long story short i got a concussion and a new helmet :/

Well i fell off a green horse while riding it, and he made a huge jump and after that i clashed with my back right into the wooden fence, which of course, was broken.
I have had a fall like this once, also at jumping, but i fell and rolled and nothing was broken, just a slight headache...

one time at my camp we were riding and i was like 4 or 5 feet off to the side of the horse then one of my friends took out her lunch in a plastic bag.the horse was scared and jumped sideways a few feet i was next to him so i ran sideway not forward considering i couldve been seriously injured i still got hit and flew 4 feet sidways. my instructer said that i was smart to run to the side not forward she said since i was small if i was to run orwardthat i wouldve been trampled and mightve died

I lost cout how many times i have fell doing dressage with all the corbetts and that. I am luck to of never hurt my self I used tolaugh when I fell off I wpnt laugh again becouse now I know what can happen

i had a fall like that too. i was riding a trail at the stable and fell off. i must have hit my head on a rock cause the helmet i was wearing was scraped up and damaged in the back. i dont remember much but thankfully i was able to call for help. my horse stayed by my side the whole time and thats how my family was able to find me quick. i was told i lead my horse back and took care of him before i went to the ER. i still have a scar from it, but no matter what, i will never stop rideing :"3

my horse reard and fell on me i blacked out and almost broke my back but the horse was nice enough to roll off of me right away to get off of me and left leg. i got back on the horse. reared again but this time i stayed on. i will never forget that. my parents werent there. if they were i would never ride again bc they would worry to much.

Very very well sat. Just got the striding wrong. Have you ever tried canter poles into jumps or connoting strides out loud. It really helps to get a feel for your stride so you can tell when that sort of thing is going to happen so you adjust it before it's too late. It really helped with me xxx

I don't remember a few falls xD supposively I fell off while racing a friend and did a faceplant and nearly dislocated my shoulder from sliding into a barbed wire fence. My horse ran off into the woods, and I don't really remember falling or the day after

my friend was galloping in my "saddle of death" the horse slipped and knocked her off ballence she fell and slid on her head and couldn't remember the last 2 days the next morning.

OUCH... ive seen videos like this :( why do the horse legs collapse under them? is it like they are stumbling or somthing? When i had my first fall i was 10 and my dad didnt help me and i cried because i really like that horse and it turned out the people we got him from lied and he wasnt right for a beginner and he bucked me off :( hate that memory but we all have our REALLY bad days :/

Think of it this way. My trainer just told me this cause i recently fell off my hirse really badly but she said "if you never fall you dont know how to stay strong. If you never stay strong you wint get through life" my friend also said " everytime you fall you get ten times better as a rider because then you know what you need to do to prevent yourself from falling again"

Nice fall by the way. :) Glad your okay. I fell off my horse at fair bc he got spooked and i sprained my shoulder and got a mild concustion but i dont remeber falling off. Ahaha and yes its possible to sprain a shoulder.

I have a bad one, the horse almost looked like a draft horse he was that big and had arthritis (or so we thought), we picked up a canter during a course, we picked up the wrong lead going into a turn, I tried to slow him down and change it quickly, but he was already tripping. His went down and I fell over his head. His nose in the dirt, his rump flew up and over, landing on me. He was stuck and had to roll a few times to get up, but was sweet, didn't freak. I was scared for his safety, not mine

Scary! last summer I was Jumping and I shouldn't have been Jumping my old guy well he Jumped and he fell on me He is a sweet boy and tryed to see if I was ok ;) he hurried and got up and tryed getting me up my mom was keeping it cool but my dad was so worried he was screaming at me I am now not aloud to Jump but I do it anyways I fell off a couple of weeks ago he started screaming at me but i'm going to a Jumping clinic soon. Jumping is my life I have to say! so glad your alright!

@kaeso100 the bone has a slight opening in it and they cant fix it. yeah nasty i kno. i sprained it in that spot in one fall and went riding two weeks later and i didnt know that my arm wasnt healed all the way and i fell again and landed on it. sorry for confusing you...

@showjumperluvr4 I'm sure the bone will heal just fine, so don't worry about it. Sounds like a mild avulsion fracture or a stress/hairline fracture, depending on your age and the fracture site. Often fractures like this don't need interference/surgery so don't let it hold you back. However sprains or other soft/connective tissue damage may need some care during the recovery process/aftercare. I'm sure you will be in tip-top riding form soon, if not already! Good luck!

@showjumperluvr4 Very rarely, fracture sites won't 'heal', your doctors mean that the opening in the bone has been replaced by scar tissue rather than a (bone) callous. So glad you've been back riding, I wish you every success.

ey at least your mom cares at all. I was going over a jump and the horse and i fell, he fell on both my legs and it changed my life for ever. I have knee problems now but when i fell off and got back on even though I broke my foot. THE GLORY OF ADRENALINE! :D

i've never gone down WITH the horse! my horse bronc bucked when i TOTALLY did not expect it, and i feel literally ON my head and cracked my helmet. i was alone &blacked out probably. i went to the ER and it was a grade 3 concussion... 2 months later i fell again. i was alone at the time, and i have NO clue what happened..i might not have fallen, because my horse was already untacked when i called my mom..another grade 3 concussion.. i was out of reality until the next morning! glad you're ok!

i know how you feel......seriously....... i was riding with my friend a few years ago now,... we were running in a field along the tree line, she was riding her pony and i was riding her 16 hand quarter horse, her horse kind of shyde away from something ran in front of mine cutting it off so my horse mov ed over and a tree branch wacked me in the face, i was hanging onto the saddle, and i was like, hey ill let myself fall, i let go and now i dont remeber what happened after that... it was scary.

I don't remember my first fall. Some how came off at the canter out of a western saddle and got ran over. That was a fun trip to the hospital. :)

The same thing happend to me this summer but i was barrel racing and my horse flipped over head first on top of me i broke my nose, shoulder and F uped my hip and didnt remember a thing about! I think we are two lucky people!!

Thats when I will stop riding - when I am gone. See, my mom wont let me jump (even though I am going to do it anyway) but she doesn't undersand that accidents can happen anywhere. and it's not even about the fall. Its about the flight when you jump. Its about the freedom, and so much more...
anyway, My horse's feet came out from under him a couple weekends ago. Luckily I was bareback, so I was just very sore the next day. But I know how you feel...

You just feel so guilty about endangering your horse, and I remember cantering around a turn, and next thing I know, I'm on the ground, and I know you shouldn't do this, but I jumped up and made sure my horse was ok. Unfortunately, no one caught it on camera, so I couldn't see how epic it was in slo-mo lol.
Neither of us were hurt, just a little shaken. but I'm glad you two are ok!
