should i get a internal or external sound card, i mostly play metal, and whats the advantage over the internal 1 to the external, will the rec quality get better, i already rec. using my pod x3 PLS HELP!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU
hellow sir,it was a nice video of mixing,i am a bignner in sequencing and i have a small AudioTrack sound card.and i wish to buy good pro card for Gospal perpose...i have few questions for you i wud b thankfull if u spare yo precious time to answer them.
1) Does profire 26/26 and profire 6/10 gives same quality out put?
2) The Price of profire 26/26 is more compared to profire 6/10,is it just because it has more channels,or it gives better out put like better sterio or better 7.1 etc
3) Is Delta 10/10 fully external (MOBILE AudioInterface) or does it needs a Pci card too (hardware) to be connected to the CPU...
4) Does Profire6/10 gives any latency while recording or While recording MIDI (VST) i mean like do i have to connect any other hardware interface with it to start my recording session..?
5) Can i attach a recording studio mike to the sound card rather than dynamic live mikes.
6) can i do the mixing with a headphone if i dont wish to use the monitor speakers as i do not have a good Yamaha mixing/rec speakers.
7)I have herd tht the drivers of M-AUDIO does not load properly and if some one switches some plug on/off in the room the sound card gets disconnected and needs to be connected again and the drivers to load again(is it true or its just a rumour?),this complaint i herd for Fast Track Pro card.
well, in general you should forget about the master fader at all. Leave it on 0 all the time, but work with calibrated speakers. I mean calibrate your monitor gain to have certain SPL level at the listening position... and you will see that you never need to look at the peak dbFS meters of your daw.
p.s. for those who interested -- google for the Bob Katz articles.
The same rule also applies to the mixing stage, not only to the mastering level. The Main Out level should always stay at the 0 dB level in order to have a reference point as far as your overall level is concerned. So, yes, you're right.
well, in fact, we shoud aim not for the 0dB (cause we have dBFS scale there), but for 0dBu level at the ouput of your analog gear. And its up to you how much of a headroom you want to leave for your peaks reaching the full scale 0dB. There are number of Bob Katz articles about level practices on the web, use what serves you best.
you're right. what i meant is not for the level to stay at 0dB, but the FADER of the main out, that way you know that all the tracks are measured correctly in reference to the main out. of course you do not want your main out LEVEL to stay at 0dB because you want to have headroom=space for dynamics. the problem these days is that music is getting louder and louder and all the dynamics are being squashed, so there's a battle between loudness and dynamics.
Ive seen in your video that you are using a behringer tube preamp does that help with the vocals or not because when i record vocals they come out too thin so please tell me thanks
y0, Br0..as far as yo clipping woes + inserts. tell the fam that dey need b usin inserts *7 & 8* for dey Limiters and dither plugs, yo. deez are POST FADER inserts, designed for this for shizziLLiciousness...
No you said if some one brings in a cd you'll use that. Now what if it's a live band what kind of plug in would you use on mastering?

if your master clips -- bring down the tracks, NOT the master.
jazzuhead 2 years ago 13
Ur exactly right because that means one or more of the tracks is to loud. so turn your tracks down and then you can control the master.
