This performance is not bad, and her voice is not struggling to reach the notes, that just the way she always sings her belts live, and people keep and keep saying that she's struggling. It's just a matter of technique. Christina has an amazing voice but a poor technique, or at least not as good as other like Celine or Mariah.
The problem lies when she gets to the "fall on your knees" part which was not well supported and I'm no music expert, but it sounded off key. Everything after that sounded forced and struggled. Esp the belts. And it's clear she's trying to emulate the way MC sang this since that is her idol but fails unfortunately. One of her worst performances and I'm not a CA hater.

Xtina's 2007 Grammy performance voted 3rd best of all-time. Mariah didn't even place. I've elicited quite a reaction here, I'm honored. But as always, delusion reigns in MC land.

Well I think the runs are a little crazy. lolol But I listened to it "The Voice" style. Not watching her, just listening. She still blows everyone on The Voice away. It wasn't too high. She goes a little under the note and a little over the note all the time, that's what we call bad intonation. If you have a good ear, the shitty intonation should be very clear. A good singer should be able to hit a difficult note right in the center of pitch.

Look who came in about 20 notches higher on Rolling Stones greatest vocalists of all-time list, and she's been in the biz about 9 yrs less. (M's placing was undoubtedly based on her *early* quality work, far more than her later work. If her later work was all there was to go on, she wouldn't have made the list.) Xtina's 2007 Grammy performance voted 3rd best of all-time. Mariah didn't even place. I've elicited quite a reaction here, I'm honored. But as always, delusion reigns in MC land.

Well I think the runs are a little crazy. lolol But I listened to it "The Voice" style. Not watching her, just listening. She still blows everyone on The Voice away. It wasn't too high. She can definitely handle the higher octave. Just too many runs and not connecting to the song's meaning, like other posters have said. But Christina herself admits that back when she first started, she really did a lot of runs an riffs to prove she could sing, because she felt stifled as a "teen queen."

She goes a little under the note and a little over the note all the time, that's what we call bad intonation. If you have a good ear, the shitty intonation should be very clear. A good singer should be able to hit a difficult note right in the center of pitch.

I like most of her song and she is very talented. But I tell it as it is.
