I really like your work. But I do have to say that on this one, the resemblence could've been better. The way the picture turned out it could also be some other actress. I'd say the eyes are completely Kirsten, but either the nose or mouth or the combination of both, is not, and kind of takes away from the likeness. It's almost as if I see a little Reese Witherspoon on the bottom half of the face xD

I have a question is there a large gap in terms of value between digital paintings and an original ones, both can be made to look identical and in similar styles, i just if one to be on auction which would be more appreciated, hand-made or digital? I'm guessing hand-made just because the paints used make it more authentic , still the difference shouldn't be much if its a one of a kind piece.

uhm... this way of painting is called layering, and it's really hard to make it good, it takes practise o learn where to put the highlights sure you can retouch faster than normal paints... but normal paints can also blend so much easier and it's way easirer to mix the colors on the canvas.

i think i'm pretty close to reaching this level now and i will maybe try it someday

1) it is hard ... painting in general is hard

2)painting skills have nothing to do with photoshop ... digital is just a painting medium just like oil colors , water colors , pencils etc ...

but painting skills have nothing to do with photoshop ... if you can't paint you won't be able to paint no matter what medium

Ok maybe Im a bit exaggerating but it is entirely seemly that digital painting is easier.

For example if you get proportions wrong i.e. eye at wrong place you can just drag it to desired location :P With traditional mediums it's not possible of coarse. Furthermore it's easier to 'rub out' anything you don't like.

You know what I mean?

I know painting is hard but with practice (a lot of it) I believe many can do it. It's just that most people are lazy...

because while correcting mistakes is faster a good painter would want to reach a level where he can avoid these mistakes in the first place

about practice ... to be honest while practice is important to be able to paint you need to learn to think in a certian way

for example iv'e made a lot of progress since this video and i barely practiced ( all my videos are actually all the paintings iv'e done last year )
