maybe its a good thing they arent that popular, contrary to what most people here commented, popular bands try to fit the audience instead of producing top quality stuff

If you watch an interview with agalloch, they have actually became very popular but they said no more how much fame or fortune comes to them, they will always stay kult and true to what they started the band for. If you see on my Play list on my channel you can watch the interview. Very amazing band Agalloch is, no need to worry about them selling out, i don't see the day =).

that's said very often, and it mostly isn't true.Rather, it's often the fans who are disappointed that their formerly 'unknown' band is now mainstream, as which they don't characterize themselves, so they stop listening to the band (I've seen this happen).Bands that become popular sometimes do change their style, but then, many bands do that at some point.And if popular bands would try to fit their audience, they would not change their style much.After all, that style is why they became popular.

It really is a shame that a band with this caliber and intensity, delivered through their music, is so little renowned.

But, in the end, it's those that "earn" it by searching through other significant bands that they find the leaders of this genre.
